Listen closely, Vlad is asking closed ended questions (can be answered with a yes/no) and not connecting with the subject so Jake is giving Vlad answers to what he’s asking. At 4:13, for example, he asks Jake an open ended question and gets solid response.
I repeat, his DCD with WWE was one of the best docs I've ever seen. Yes, he got short during this interview, but you're supposed to let guys talk when you ask them questions. I'm the same way, if someone keeps cutting me off, I either stop talking or get very short with them. I've seen many Jake interviews, and he's very open, and he will give you great soundbites if you shut up and let him talk. His Randy impression especially is hilarious.
For people to blame Vince for wrestlers deaths and what not is ludicrous. Vince built an industry that heavily relied on overly muscular and built bodies. Steroids were a way to keep up. Those wrestlers took the risk of doing steroids to make more money. One may argue If they didn’t use steroids, they wouldn’t be able to compete with the rest which would result in them being released, which is true, but this is not Vince’s fault. This is the business they were in at the time. They knew they would have to use steroids from the beginning in order to keep up. Nobody forced them into wrestling.
They were "encouraged" to do this and there were ringside doctors on payroll. They clearly would've had no way of knowing this going in because no one wanted wrestlers to look like Chippendales dancers until Vince came along. No one wouldve predicted him looting all the other territories of their best talent, then purchasing them to then squash them so there were no other territories-- not to take out competition, take away the possibility of being employed anywhere else, so you then have to do whatever crazy sh Vince wants you to-- which will include a humiliation phase, and a stint where you are removed from payroll in assurance you will act accordingly. Please don't spend your entire life being stupid.
Vlad is leading the conversation, Jake doesn't talk that much (he never has, unless it's a promo). I don't get much of this, since I have seen so many interviews from wrestlers about the early days of WWF, there's nothing new. New Jack was a real a**hole, but a real one also, so he didn't like most white mf'ers as he would say anyway. The title feels more about getting clicks (since Vince just got paid again recently), cause Jake has moved on and is ok with Vince now.
3:06 I respect Jake but him and New Jack are wrong. A lot of wrestlers did die but it was due to their bad habits (so to speak). Like Jim Ross said on Off The Record, the WWE aren't gonna follow the wrestlers, tuck them to bed and make sure they aren't taking drugs. The wrestlers aren't children, they are ADULTS. It's THEIR CHOICE!
@@kenterminateddq5311 By your logic, we should arrest drug addicts but not the dealers, because "these are grown men with choices"? If Vince was paying a herion dealer to show up at every event, while main eventing the guys on herion, he has no cupibility for what happens to these guys? Jim Ross is usually fairly level headed, but "tucking them into bed to make sure they're not on drugs" is probably the most CYA statement I've heard from him.
@@skepchica No, my logic is if you are offered drugs, all you have to say is two letters: N-O. It's not hard. If you are pressured by peers, you have to have the willpower to still say no. BTW, i can tell you have no logic by your misspelling of "herion".

Beeing on steroids is intense. I was a complete lunatic messing with the juice and i was only doing a small amount. It's no joke. Don't try to normalize Benoits psycho sh. Of course, you gotta make sure the dogs are okay. If this is relatable to you I'm any kind of way. Go check yourself in to somewhere that will put you in a straight jacket and give you a lobotomy because you have NO business being around other human beings.

Listen closely, Vlad is asking closed ended questions (can be answered with a yes/no) and not connecting with the subject so Jake is giving Vlad answers to what he’s asking. At 4:13, for example, he asks Jake an open ended question and gets solid response.
That's exactly what I noticed. It's a sales thing to never ask closed ended questions.
@@jonesjones3678Or any good interviewer. 😂😂
My respect for jake roberts what a life geez
Short answers. Reminds me of Barry Windham interviews.
Interview Kevin Nash
I repeat, his DCD with WWE was one of the best docs I've ever seen.
Yes, he got short during this interview, but you're supposed to let guys talk when you ask them questions.
I'm the same way, if someone keeps cutting me off, I either stop talking or get very short with them.
I've seen many Jake interviews, and he's very open, and he will give you great soundbites if you shut up and let him talk.
His Randy impression especially is hilarious.
One of jakes worst interview ever didn’t talk ALOT
Shut up wwe mark
God bless Jake!
Jake and Cheryl Roberts together again. Beautiful!
The title feels more about getting clicks (since Vince just got paid again recently), cause Jake has moved on and is ok with Vince now.
i dont know of any job you can just take 3 months off lmmfao
Why didn't Vlad focus on Jake's "Resurrection" documentary? Jake is obviously not digging this interview.
The doctors were on Vince's payroll, ready and available with a spiel at every gathering from rehearsals to shows. Stop.
@@skepchica You stop.
These guys don't have to take 100 pills, right?
@@kenterminateddq5311 Okay, Nancy Regan. 🙄 These are UA-cam comments, not a dissertation. When you've spiraled down so low you're correcting the person's spelling instead of refuting their talking points, your argument is officially trash.
Thank you Vlad for this interview
Yes, yep, yeah, right.... this is a great interview.
One of my favorites growing up.. 🐍 Man
Glad Jake finally got sober and living the good life now.
Lol at Jakes responses. He’s either not into the questions, the interviewer, or both.
Jake doesn’t sound like a recovering drug addict here, he sounds like he still has some resentments and he needs to do his 4th and 5th steps
Jake smelled pork the entire interview
Kudos to him
😂😂
Happy to see you Jake! Beyond The Mat made me like him even more.
Jake Roberts 👑
DJVlad @ The next three wrestlers you need to interview are Konnan and Vampiro, who each have intriguing stories on being involved with various gangs,drugs,between-the-scenes wrestling on-goings,health issues(with Konnan having kidney ailments),and (in Vampiro's case)being kidnapped by a satanic cult, and Jesse Ventura on his wrestling, acting, and political careers,Truthers, and getting Donald Trump into politics in 2000(as a left leaning Independent[!!!!]).
too many moments in this clip. classic 😆😆😆
Jake know he went in smke that crack🤣🤣
Beeing on steroids is intense. I was a complete lunatic messing with the juice and i was only doing a small amount. It's no joke. I can see steroids causing Benoit going on a rampage, because he was a small guy naturally, and had to use a lot of juice to keep up with the bigger guys. It affects your mental health probably worse than doing cocaine everyday
anytime I take care of myself and stop smoking and drinking and get healthy and my test levels spike I always become more aggressive imagine if I was on the sauce, I think about taking them just so I can have an edge but watching Cali muscle shribble up makes me say no
Don't try to normalize Benoits psycho sh. If you can see how someone could go home, torture their wife to death, as in after her back snapped in half so all she could do was scream while you continue to wrap her up for hours and beat her with electrical cords and the cords you connect your cable with for hours with your 7 year old child in the house until you finally decide to choke her to death then roll her up in a rug, meanwhile keeping in touch with work, then a day later decide to shoot your 7 year old up with xanax then strangle him, then call your buddies at work and tell them your dead wife and now dead child have food poisoning and you had to take them to the hospital-- meanwhile STILL checking in with work and even googling flights to make sure you're at the next show- meanwhile your wife is starting to blow up and stink-- but you're okay with that, and still pack a bag then go grab knives and bibles so you can stage the bodies until 'oh sh-- I told somebody they were sick' so instead of facing this you go back and google the least painful way to die, and even do yourself the kindness of wrapping 2, twice as many as were recommended on line-- just to make sure you don't get pinched, then make arrangements for someone to get your f'n dogs-- which got a better treatment than his son. Of course, you gotta make sure the dogs are okay.
If this is relatable to you I'm any kind of way. Go check yourself in to somewhere that will put you in a straight jacket and give you a lobotomy because you have NO business being around other human beings.
After watching this Jake interview I'll admit it's the most awkward. So many questions in short time spans, lots of pauses on both ends, Jake made this odd.
Vlad isn't a great interviewer, he gets a lot of people with strong personalities that take it over. He asked New Jack a ton of "yes/ no" questions and got a yes or no.
Great interview
Of course, he'll bash Vince since he's receiving checks from Tony Khan.
Damn Jake, don’t help the interviewer out or anything.
WWF should have been ground zero for Mental health providers
Jakes Dad is also in the Beyond The Mat documentary
I think it's just how Jake is these days not Vlad in the interview . He just is that way now short and sweet
