One hell of an instrumental Rock Piece! Sounds with the Power of a 1000 Sun's! The whole Album is an Inspiration, like MF's Dragons Kiss, JB's Perpetual Burn and VM's Mind's Eye! Great Times of Guitar Music. Miss those Times! Love it!!!
Amazing album, Deen Castronovo plays his ass off, particularly in this piece, where in the "chorus" or the main theme, follows the guitar rythm with the ride's bell, among all the other furious stuff he's playing.. just awesome.
I don't understand why Tony doesn't put his best songs on his channel. He should have a separate playlist of all of the songs of his album 'Maximum Security'. That's one of the greatest electric guitar albums of all time. He will have more people visit his channel that way.
@@illusion_of_your_delusion I feel that, however being locked at home in these times i have had an opportunity to dust off the old guitar and check out the music that inspired me in the first place! :)
I running on the wind every time I liste to.... The hurry of drumming, the rollin' bass carpet, the perfection of the Guitar... Losing myself in pleasure...
This album still remains one of my very favorite instrumental shred albums ever released. It has everything; melodies, feeling, coherent and strong songwriting (despite Tony's assertion that he'd given up on commercial viability by this time), complexity, and memorability. Tech bands these days need to listen to this and get a lesson in all those things, IMO.
Atma Anur is one of the most underrated drummers ever. I never hear anybody talk about him but he has such a massive catalog of incredible playing. massive influence on me when I was a developing drummer listening to all of this shrapnel stuff.
Tony MacAlpine: The most technical black guitarist ever, and one of the greatest guitarists to ever live. I definitely put him up there with the likes of Shawn Lane and Allan Holdsworth. This song is amazing, technically and musically.
Deen was so way ahead of his time. He had a band called the WILD DOGS......(a time when cassette tapes still existed ) ..and man I had never ever heard drumming of his caliber back then.............. shockingly gifted individual.
I like him because he not only rocks but does fusion jazz as well. Picked up the Cab Theatre de Marionnettes cd..... awesome. I'm checking out his earlier works. He's probably well known in the rock scene but until the live at the Astoria in London, I had never heard of him.
If the God Of Rock and his creation, the "Blue scale" Mr. Robert Johnson, were alive today, he would be extremely proud of all his kids and what they done with his creation. May G-D bless every shredder on this earth.
So, Tony’s lead part on the choruses sound like they are panned hard left and right. Do you think they just doubled them, or he duplicated them perfectly? My guess is he played them twice, almost identically.
I'm 19 and I've been playing since I was like 15 and I know that this type of music is never gonna be within my technical capabilities unless I start really taking sweep picking and all of that technical stuff seriously, I can play some jazzy stuff and I have a fair understanding of musical theory but getting stuff like this down requires not just being a good typical 'blues rock' guitar player who can improvise a good solo on spot, it really requires DISCIPLINE
Very true and I have followed the path of learning this kind of playing, and yet the usual guitar stuff like Blues, Funk and Jazz I am rubbish at. My forte is music like Tony's with fast single melodic lines and phrases, swept etc. It took me a year to be able to do a simple sweep arpeggio properly, but in hindsight I could have done it much sooner had I used a metronome and daily practice.
Petrucci can't hold a candle to Tony in his prime, or Vinnie, or any Shrapnel artist...he is good & I enjoy listening to him but maybe it's just my time frame, all this is the best....
This needs to be on Spotify already!!!! The people have spoken!! Like if you agree
I checked the playback speed to be sure. Awesome❤
Still amazes after all these years.
This album was , and still is FEROCIOUS. This is just beyond outstanding!!
This was my Motorola’s ringtone in the mid 2000’s. People would always stop and listen.

my favorite Tony macalpine song an artpiece
Killer, top drawer. the dogs etc - simply outstanding. PERIOD - so there! love ya tony mac n chee.
One of Tony Mac's all-time bests!
Amazing album, Deen Castronovo plays his ass off, particularly in this piece, where in the "chorus" or the main theme, follows the guitar rythm with the ride's bell, among all the other furious stuff he's playing.. just awesome.
The ride is one of my favorite parts of this piece
Tony is a Beast, I had all his records back in the 80's, He is AMAZING !!!
I don't understand why Tony doesn't put his best songs on his channel. He should have a separate playlist of all of the songs of his album 'Maximum Security'. That's one of the greatest electric guitar albums of all time. He will have more people visit his channel that way.
Must be copyright, it's not on Apple Music etc. either.
@@legatrix Even on his official channel, there are so many of his best songs missing.
I am learning to play this and believe me this man has major talent!
This piece is not only melodic but very demanding to play!
Lvl insane game mode to play, AND the most difficult Is the Chopin sonata in this masterpiece
...so did you learn to play the whole thing? :D
@@tmayne220 NO i do not even play guitar any longer. I stopped a while back due to personal reasons.
@@illusion_of_your_delusion I feel that, however being locked at home in these times i have had an opportunity to dust off the old guitar and check out the music that inspired me in the first place! :)
@@tmayne220 Good to hear. :) I may pick it back up as well bit for right now i am going through a really bad time.

His spirit has pulled me from the fire in so many ways.
AWESOME DEEN CASTRONOVO!!!
The drums are pretty top notch too!
The one and only Dean Castronovo.
This is as much a drummer's album as it is a guitarist's
Deen and Atma. Two of the best!!!
Absolutely
Atma Anur is one of the most underrated drummers ever. I never hear anybody talk about him but he has such a massive catalog of incredible playing. massive influence on me when I was a developing drummer listening to all of this shrapnel stuff.

you forgot jimi...
@@scottishyakr he is not technical lmao
I'd also put Greg Howe as one of the greatest black guitarists of all time. Vernon Reid is also great but kinda sloppy imo.
@@madden7732 lol 😂 😂
Jimi is amazing if you understand what he was doing :)) Greg is a beast also

Exelente para mí oido
Best ever Rock Guitarist?
Topppppp
When you want to argue racism, but then somebody mention Tony MacAlpine.
More like hundreds of thousands of notes
So, Tony’s lead part on the choruses sound like they are panned hard left and right. Do you think they just doubled them, or he duplicated them perfectly? My guess is he played them twice, almost identically.
It's very easy to spot when they are just doubled. This was played twice by Tony for sure.
@bob67578 what parts the solo?
*sarcasm*
brilliant comment this is.
Yeah Lol !
Atma Anur and Dean Castronovo
A legnagyobb.
Yeah, I know!
sik!!!
@WoWandMetalFTW Blame the recording quality. That is in fact a stunning fill.
macalpine good player he used to be with vai
Been playing for 26 years & still trying to get this together. I guess I'm too old school now. Speed just isn't my thing now

So there's good, and then there's Tony MacAlpine good.
Just saying.
how??
I Love 1:40-1:50 fucking awesome :)
@rcharding hhahah indeed
Yeah, it's just your time frame.
Dislikes... REALLY!!

Nothing compares to any from Shrapnel recors man, these guys had soul and vibrato. Petrucci forgot what vibrato is since Dream's second album.
Midas has nothing on Tony!!!
Petrucci is pretty good too!
iKILLEDFIDDYMEN brought me here
The mix is horrible. Brothers basement is better
