  • I have seen a bunch of videos showing all the broken ball joints and problems people are having with trying to lift their Trailbosses higher without doing it the right way with a new upper arm and a nice coilovers. Well this is the real world and I fully understand why people do stuff on a budget especially seeing the prices of the Cognito, Mazulla, King setup costs. so here is my poor white boy way of making something look better on a budget. Buy a $100 Ready Lift lower strut spacer, install it, put some bigger tires on the truck and drive it for a couple hundred thousand miles without blowing out ball joints, front axles and no cupping mud terrains because we all know none of you all drive those pavement princesses in the mud anyhow!! I think this is the most budget friendly way to make a new chevy look a lot better. No more obnoxious 20" wheels and no trail boss 5 spokes with death spacers here. Just a clean affordable setup that should last for a long time. I guess if you have the money why not go big and I can appreciate that but man there sure are a lot of ugly central California, Hawaii looking new chevys out there!! So if you were curious about what it all costs and if it will all fit, here you go. It's all in the video. And if you're commenting about my comment on the 6.2 blowing up, you're probably thinking I'm just jealous. You're right I would have loved a 6.2 instead of the 5.3. I just wanted to irritate the rich or deep in debt bois on here!! But I did hear the 6.2 has its issues so that makes my broke ass sleep better knowing I have the old school 5.3. anyways ramble ramble hope you enjoy the video and it helped you on your STOCK SHIT SUCKS journey!!

    Cool setup. Im running 285 75 17 Toyo OC AT3 with some 17x8.5 wheels on my Bronco. Definitely a good size. Tall and narrowish wich is better for winter anyways.

    Looks good! I would wheel that. Perfect wheel and tire setup. Wheels 18 inches and above are just lame for wheeling.

    the xtra cab comes with a longer bed too! for the money, your truck is the best imo because you get 4x4, v8, a real key (not a button) 6 speed transmission and a usable bed, not a tiny bed you can't even sleep in with the tail gate up. They come with an R17 and 8" wide (i think) wheel though, which isn't that wide, so new wheels are nice upgrade. Still you're thousands ahead

    Your truck looks great. I'm about to buy the same size set up. Question, does it rub at all? Thanks

    Cool video and nice setup! Did you gear up and have any speedometer issues? Any rubbing or cutting inside the wheel well? Thanks for sharing!

      I didn't have to change gearing at all. The truck came with 20 inch wheels and the factory tires were very close to this same height. I haven't had to trim anything at all. I do get a very very minor scrub when backing up at full turn on the small factory mud flaps but it is so minor it's barely noticeable

    Did your MPG change by much after the new tires were installed?

    Lookin' clean . I'll have to check out those tires, they look good. Is the offset on those wheels the same as factory? I might just use my factory 17" alloys. Any more harshness in the ride with the E Rated tires? Thanks.

    • @mattlentz5107
      @mattlentz5107  Рік тому +1

      Offset is 0 and the wheels are 17x8.5. Not sure what stock is. My truck came with factory 20 inch wheels so they were completely different. So far the tires have been great. I have about 18k miles on them and they don't have any cupping or odd wear patterns. Run quiet down the road and seem to be great in the dirt sand and snow I have been in so far.

      @@mattlentz5107 Nice. Yea the added snow traction would be a big benefit to me being in the Midwest and only having 2wd. I like that these are tall, and not too wide with less sidewall knobs, so their MPG is probably pretty good among all the tires that are nearly 34". From a glance, the tires are almost a "sleeper". Like you've added some decent capability to your truck, but not everyone would notice. (By seeing the tires) I think I'm gonna do these, but with a 1.5" lift in the back too, since I'm getting a cap, and building a bed and adding solar batteries and stuff. (Budget overlander) By the time the rear sags a bit under the weight, it should sit about perfect IMO.

    Have you had any trouble with the lower block lift/leveling kit from ReadyLift?? I know some have reported problems with tearing axle boots?? Btw…. Love the setup. I’m looking to do the exact same!!

      I was just installing my lower block when I realized it’s eventually going to tear the boot. So now I’m looking into other options

    I have a similar truck but with the stock silver 17's and wondering with the offset of those stock I should stick with the 70 series instead of the 75. thoughts? I have a Moto-fab level kit same style as yours. Thanks for any info.

    • @mattlentz5107
      @mattlentz5107  9 місяців тому

      70s are a safe bet. My 75s just barely scrub when backing up. I mean just the lightest scrape sound so to be safe a 70 would be good. The 75s are hard to find too. Only a few options but when you get to the 70 series you'll find tons of options. The new gladiators run a 70 so sometimes you'll find falken take offs for dirt cheap.
