The song was written about heaven. Roberta was visiting with my great grandparents in Brazil when Grandma Quintanilla died. Roberta wanted to write a song about heaven because she knew Grandma Quintanilla was there.

Roberta Rubio and I wrote You Don't Knock, You Just Walk On In. The song was written in Buenos Aires in 1985. Roberta was raised Southern Baptist and didn't understand the need for purgatory yet. I was preparing for adult confirmation and Roberta visited with myself and Fr. O'Mieri and Bishop Regalio. They explained to Roberta why purgatory is necessary. The song was rewritten to explain the change in Roberta's viewpoint. I am upset that the copyright was stolen and it makes the song look inappropriate. Most people know not to barge into a bedroom when the door is shut. I am very offended that I lost copyright!! One of the co-writers became Pope Francis!!

I have been listening to Bill Gaither and his music for 65 years. I started Anderson College in 1956 and Bill was there at the same time. Got a lot of free concerts from Bill, Danny and Mary. Loved it and still do.
