    It means that you are the default setting. It means when you work in a document on your device, you don't have to scroll through 100's of other fonts to find the one that you want. Your devices came from the factory with the software that suits your needs already loaded.

      @@KarenHunterShow Professor Hunter/Sister Karen, it is most definitely time for a factory re-set. Time to upgrade our entire operating system before the whole thing crashes.

      Race is not something that just exists on its own. People do it. So no, it’s not a default. It’s a reality created through actions.

    Whiteness means I am first seen as a human being and I am always given the benefit of doubt.

    Whiteness in my family was a ton of denial; parenting through " Do as I say, not as I do", and claiming to be Christian.

      Yes! And what makes it worse…many of them they will say things like “follow me as I follow Christ”, meanwhile…they also believe Jesus was “white”…so they don’t realize they’re really implying “follow me as I follow whiteness” 👀

    She may have struggled on her personal relationship to being white. However, in her book, Dr. Battalora dropped the hammer on the legal definition for what it is to "be white".

      I need to read that book. I have not yet read a legal definition of what “white” is. but it is mentioned in the naturalization act of 1790. It didn’t really give a definition though.

    It means not to be a minority. Not to worry about acceptance or the police. It means not having to worry about racism or prejudice. To be believed without proof against a person of color. To glide through life with little worry. To have an advantage over others, privilege.

  • @carlconnikie2013
    @carlconnikie2013 10 місяців тому +6

    Surely, that depends on who you ask. If you ask those inside the posh restaurant taking part in the banquet what the weather is like outside, or what it is like to be hungry they probably wouldn't be able to give you a good answer. However, those who are poor, hungry and cold would be able to provide you with an accurate response.

    A friend's brother in close with a white guy who owns arestaurant and he has a lot of republican photos on wall. They went to high school together and get into some deep political discussions. He asked his white friend flat out why do you support people who would want to erase me? His friend didn't even conceive of that point of view before that despite his Black friend of decades.
    A Black business owner I know told me she and her husband have been friends with a white couple for 20 years. They travel together. Under Trump the white husband admitted his fear is a Black man taking his job. His wife called them to apologize - basically for his honesty with their Black friends of 20 years.

    Yo Professor Karen Hunter remember when Jane Elliott was on your show and she broke this down explaining that there is no whiteness where all cousins 1 out of every 3 White people you see 1 on them can be traced through history/ancestry that they are your cousin through 2nd or 3rd generation 🤔 Plus if the original man & Woman came from Africa then we are all black it's when these tribes separated and went different places on earth is when there skin color and facial features changed because remember throughout those thousands of years they were having children also and living in different climates🤔

    Good Wednesday afternoon. Happy Holidays as well a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2024. Reply: I won't tongue wag on this one. Keeping it simple, I take the word and meaning of White to be preferred and standard. By which all other things are defined. I say that's more of a practice and a construct than it is true. Your video and subject today made me look up the definitions for "Toubaub, Phonetic and Genetic." One of the words you hear consistent in the epic television miniseries 'Roots.'

    I read the Great Black Master Teachers, as a historian of Black histories, everything started in the Nile Valley, the first Human, the first plant, the first rock, and the beginning of life on this planet as we know it today. The White race probably need to divide, because if they didn't, they probably wouldn't exist. Black people makes up 90% of this planet population, whereas, White people makes up 1% of the planet population. The Black gene is dominant. Black people were here when all other group arrived on this planet and Black people will be here when all other groups are gone from this planet, simply because, the Black people evolved, we are evolution. How can you fight evolution, you create concepts, and the West is a master of illusions.

    Could whiteness be MOST of the identity?There seems to be no place to go beyond this sort of apologizing for white privilege. The closest I have gotten to an answer to this is when I was describing behaviors of some whites , as I have experienced it, to my white friend, she said, “You do know that I am white “…That said it all.

    • @KarenHunterShow
      @KarenHunterShow  4 місяці тому

      there is no whiteness...only privilege attached to a thing that was constructed to create the chasm. you can either CHOOSE to cling to the made-up "identity" or grow and be a HUMAN. that's it.
