I tried to use my Verizon Sim and could not receive txt messages. I took it to Verizon and they said they don't support Microsoft so I'm out of luck. Guess I'll be switching to AT&T

I did what he said and i got a code from Microsoft i tried 4 times still no go
I saw a video my code ended with 0 and I saw a video where a guy got two codes one with a 0 from att and the other from Microsoft ended with a 5 that was the only difference.
So I tried Microsoft number 4 times and I tried to get a att code no luck so I change my last number to a 5 and it worked
so if you get a code that ends with a 0 and it don't work try a 5 instead last number only
Thanks much for this! I'm going through the same drill and I got the unlock from Microsoft. I put in my MintMobile SIM and it asked for the unlock code which it accepted. Then it asked for an unlock PIN which I didn't receive. I went back to MS and asked them and the guy didn't have any idea. Do you? I think I'm close but... Thanks again!
Unlock pin is the password to your device, not your unlock code from Microsoft. Someone put a lock on it.
I am thinking of buying a Surface Duo. I was trying to contact Microsoft Support to confirm that they will give me an unlock code. I can't find a phone number that doesn't refer me to online support and then hangs up. Can you provide a phone number?

Happy to report that my surface duo is now unlocked by following these steps. Requested unlock code from AT&T on Monday. Immediately afterwards created a ticket with Microsoft. AT&T got back to me this morning with the u lock code and MS this afternoon.

My unlock experience was very positive. I went directly to Microsoft support with the serial number and imie number. Four business days later, I had my code and I was up and running on t-mobile.
Sir, your videos and honesty are great and much appreciated. I have had several Surface products over the years, and the build quality is always phenomenal. Today, I ordered the locked 256 GB version from Amazon, new for about 450 dollars.
I am a big fan of multitasking on multiple screens and I think this will work out great. I will post late tomorrow after updating the device, with my initial impressions.

Got the AT&T Duo and it took me 7 days from when I got the Duo and contacted Microsoft that day to get the unlocked code. Thanks for the help.
Hey J in your opinion does the 256g run smoother than the 128g? I got the 128 and like it but im use to the everyday swiping and gestures being smooth coming from Apple.

Which case are you using with your Surface Duo? I saw a couple OtterBox ones on Amazon but not sure if they are just to slide the phone in for traveling. What about using the Microsoft Bumper, have you tried it? And if so did you like it? What about just putting a skin on? Sorry to pick your brain but I know you have a couple Surface Duos now, and you have all the answers 🤞😉. I just ordered my 256gb from Woot daily deal today for $469. Can't beat the price, I have to try a foldable 🥰.
I have the unlocked version of DUO, could not get Visible to work, it detected it as a Verizon SIM but would not register, I wasn't able to find a way to edit the APN's. Please share if you can get it to work.
My unlocked Duo works on Visible, that's crazy.

Update: After nearly 10 days, I get two emails from AT&T indicating (as expected) that they have no unlock codes to provide. Thankfully I took your advice and immediately contacted Microsoft. How can AT&T pawn off their locked phones to third party sellers and not offer unlock codes?!?

Thanks man, came in clutch with this one. You just bought yourself a subscriber. The surface duo isn't a highly underrated professional production device, but it's all the better for me since I can now get a 1400$ MSRP phone for 400$. Brilliant.
Got my unlock code today. Totally worth it.
So, I think att got on the ball because when I got my phone, I got the unlock code within 48 hours and I popped in my t-mobile sim to test it, works fine

Thank you for the information btw. I read online about part of it before I ordered. I'm with Cricket, that is owned by and runs off of AT&T so I'm hoping I don't have to go through too much red tape to get my Surface Duo up and running. I'm excited. Thanks again.

You sir have added another subscriber. Followed the steps and my Surface Duo is unlocked. Surface Duo on Verizon network as I type this comment. Took 5 days to get the unlock code from Microsoft. AT&T came back as "not found".

So I received my 256gb "locked to ATT" on Friday. I inboxed it and charged it. Next I contacted ATT on the unlock portal for an unlock code. I inserted my Cricket SIM and started it up, and went thru setup. Got done with a 200+ mb update and restarted.
Here is where it got interesting. My Cricket SIM works, and is fully functional, the phone works, no unlock...
Don't ask me why. It was advertised as carrier ATT locked.
Saturday, ATT emailed me to say the manufacturer doesn't have an unlock code for this device.
I'm going to follow up with Microsoft on Monday regarding the unlock code.

You don’t need an unlock if you use Cricket, that’s an ATT company.
I had read on a couple of sites that was not the case. Either way, I'm glad it's working. Im still going to get the code from Microsoft, just incase I should sell it down the road.
