- Here's my opinion for a tier list of hoi4 formables.
Of course, my opinion is law, so no other opinions on the subject will be tolerated.

My only fear with Spain is that they won’t core their own darn territory
You actually get all their original cores for franco-spain even if they have not recored their lands!
@@hatless_spider Wow thanks so much for letting me know! For some reason I had it it my head that you only get the cores they have fought the guerrillas in or somn.
Maybe it was a previous version or maybe I just have so many hours I’m going insane 🤪
@John Galt at one point it was kinda spotty on what cores you would get. Someone at PDX must have watched my vids and put in for a fix 😀
I'm surprised that Qing China wasn't even on the honorable mentions.
I think it fits all three criteria pretty well and is very satisfying to achieve.
I did have fun with Qing China. But the industry really isn't there for any of the chinas, and fighting in Asia in general isn't as enjoyable for me at least.
But this list is subjective, so your personal opinion can trump mine for yourself, at the least!
@@hatless_spider I can definitely agree with the terrain and the frustration that comes with it.
Still, I have always liked both Qing China and Commie China because the fight with Japan can be quite intense.
Nice list, especially nice to include Franco-Spain. Ofc I'm missing Turan, but that one is usually quite late to form. Benelux, HRE, Gran Colombia could be on the list. And I believe I can resurrect Mahajapit (greater Indonesia) at some point. Good stuff!

That one is lowkey really fun and with good resources, factories, and manpower
Turkestan and Siberia as Sinkiang, unlike the others Sinkiang can core the rest of China. Paradox, please make Mongolian Empire and Yuan Dynasty formable by Mongolia and Mengkukuo.
Greater Indonesia as Malaya is nerfed to oblivion now, used to be very easy.
Kind of surprised the Imperial Federation/The Empire wasn't on the list
I think Alexander Empire is missing there is an achievement a high difficulty and a realy nice reward in Manpower and Industry its harder than byz has more core stronger industry
Macedonia is a good challenge, but considering you have to fight axis, allies, and Soviets, you have no one left to use all that industry and manpower against.

If you go for Italy in1938 and help Germany with allias and Sowjets then you can still fight germany

Poland-Lithuanian Commonwealth is so op especially as Lithuania
I like playing as Benelux. You can easily do it by going democratic Netherlands into lead minor democracies. After you do annex focuses you can dismantle the faction and still join Allies. The sad thing about it tho is the industry of it can't compete with majors, and if you somehow managed to form EU from it ( I did it with Order 66 France and UK after defeating Germany and Italy) you're basically too powerful for anyone to stop

I think the Imperial Federation as Fascist UK with all of commonwealth countries and the USA then doing the European Union might be the most impressive but most frustrating one. I've tried several times, but the problem is that whenever you release Canada in order to create your North American puppet, they instantly go independent meaning you need to reconquer them...
Move to secure the dominions >>> invading them later
pretty sad that THE EMPIRE (Brown UK forms EU+ Cores on all of North America possible) and The HRE are not on this list because, well, HRE is my favourite , they are both insanely OP and you can get them both done by 1938 or even earlier which is just nuts especially for the UK one.
UBF is my favorite formable nation. Even if there is no challenge to form it, it can be formed almost at the beginning of WW2 with any ideology. The industry and manpower are really decent, the industry focus for Bulgaria is good and therefore we can quickly expand our industry.
So there are plenty of possibilities for the rest of the game and I love the fact that you get all the generals!
Otherwise, there is also the European Union with France but as you mentioned, once you form the EU, there is not so much challenge for the rest of the game and unfortunately, the focus tree of France is not great on long games and does not have significant economic bonuses either.
I do think it can be fun, I just dislike the ease of formation mostly.
I feel like uniting the balkans should not be an easy task 😆
The harder part in this is forming the UBF as a communist Bulgaria with all cores at once (except the Italian ones). That's the only way I have tried to form it

Also for formable nations didn't mention Turan needs a rework. It is too late game formable nation. You should face with at least two major factions and you can core anything untill takes everything. They can add a stage mechanic like Roman Empire
to prevent the roman empire problem you can ally with Germany and use the London thing to get Doug participation, support the germans against he soviets and then declare a massive war against the axis

As ahistorical France, set Portugal to unite with Brazil, help the Carlists win the civil war.
In the end you gain cores on Angola, Mozambique, Brazil, Portugal, Spain, Algeria.

I once did the Rattanakosin Empire through defeating Vichy. That's definitely a formable that doesn't belong to this list, not even as an honorable mention^^
Any formable is greater than the nation you were playing as before you formed a new one.

What about Macedonian empire?
United Kingdom of Portugal Brazil after forming can get collab governments in Macau and Goa so you can get 2 puppets with large manpower pools and industry
i think aksum empire is up there as you have to survive as ethiopia take eritrea and invade yemen took me propably a month to get it

As Nordic empire with Denmark you can also make a navel blockade against Germany incredibly easy cause very ship built in the German east can't go out of the Baltic Sea what is stronger than most people think
Lets don't forget Poland-Romania. Easy to form at early game. Gives you time to prepare. If Germany choose non-aligned you can be ally with them. Also you can have good expand faction possiblities.

(Croatia forming Austria-Hungary) For a small boost you could demand Dalmatia from Yugoslavia then release Croatia then (as Italy) demand Tomislav becomes ruler (he gives a buff) after that you could demand Dalmatia again and release Croatia again (that makes them not your puppet)

What about Baltic Union? If you going by soviet puppet way , you can get Belarus cores from USSR and Poland .And then libirate from soviets and join to axis
Baltic union alone is still pretty low manpower although decent industry.
I was mainly aiming at singular formable nations here that can be strong on their own without any extras, although i did talk a little about combinations...i just couldn't help myself 😁
You don't need to become a puppet to take Belarus, you can do it while going independent and it's more fun that way
Fun fact is that in real life no one accepted the Spain annexation to France and we made fun with the "King" Napoleon's brother and we were the first to defeat Napoleon in battle with guerrillas😂
