I'm really glad they brought this back, and with their new miniature quality. Can't wait to see some Van Saar and Delaque hitting the underhive.
I hold out hope we'll see a new Mordheim in a few years.
What did you think of the Delaque minis? I fell in love with them :) Van Saar, not so much.
@@kaibe5241 Definitely prefer the Delaque, but the Van Saar are alright. Loads better than their original versions, IMO. They even remind me of all the Infinity minis I could never afford, without straying into anime cyborg aesthetics.

That was a hell of a lot of fun! I just got the game this last week along with Gang War and the extra gang cards, and I'm super-keen to try it out. I was a huge fan of the original back in the day (I ran an Arbites force), and this looks like a cool improvement/update on it.
Also, thanks to both of you. You two are among my favourite UA-camrs.

I was a huge fan of the earlier 1995 edition. Use to have a copy but I won't get into it's faith (still a touchy subject) Actually decided to ask the misses to get it for me for Xmas after watching your vid. Looks like a fun game. I think I will also be paying Death Ray Designs a visit in the new year. Board looks amazing, their product really suits it (almost looks like it should come with it!)

Just not long ago got into this game I purchased Dark uprising was a little bit worried that the game might not be for me because it seems to have too many complex rules BUT after seeing this video I have more confidence in my understanding of the game and I have this channel to thank keep up the great work on this channel one of my favourites for Necromunda battle reports all the best with the future of your channel once again thanks and good luck I will be sure to share your videos with my friends
I really liked how the game went so fast. I mean, some of us don't have a whole lotta time for their hobbies and such quick games really benefit those people.
pg 61 of the basic rules: whenever you roll injury dice as the result of an attack, you always roll a number of dice equal to the damage of the weapon; the number of Wounds the target HAD does not modify the number of injury dice. Big weapons always hurt more!
A damage 2 weapon will always roll 2 Injury dice regardless of whether the target had 2, 1, or 0 Wounds when hit.
(it's also worth noting that models never regain Wounds; and, there is no functional difference between a model with 0 Wounds and a model with 1 Wounds)
That terrain is incredible
I totally get why they went Escher vs Goliath (the contrasting aesthetics are just spot on) but i feel like the how ever the balance works in the 3D 4x4 game in 2D on a table that size Goliath have a massive advantage, especially in tunnels were the shorter range on their weapons can't come into play. I feel like they should have used a different match up for a tunnel fight box
The bigger issue is the equipment bloat on the Escher crew... drop chem synths from them and then goliath doesn't get the tactic card and their more damaging members. I retooled my wife's Escher crew and it is very difficult to close now she beats me to the good cover and then I need the goliath better stats to stick in there. Also there is a shot gun in the Escher sprue, why did the basic cards go with two lasguns instead of a lasgun and the shotty? The balance is actually petty good except for a couple of aesthetic choices GW made
James Djinn I mean a match up I will honestly loose to a five year old sounds like a bad idea, right up till you have (or are expecting) kids.

You and Owen might have better return playing with the expanded full ruleset. Every batrep people watch seems to be an Esher execution with the smaller map and basic ruleset.

I think you played the bottle tests wrong.
You test against the total number of crew members you had at the begining of the battle not remaining in play. Therefore, if your gang size is 6 at the begining of the dcenario you would fail a bottle test on a 6 when you have 1 fighter seriously injured or out, on a 5 or 6 when you lose 2 fighters, and so on. Here is the text from the rulebook
"To make a bottle test, the player rolls a D6 and adds the nunber of fighters in their gang who are either Seriously Injured or Out of Action. If the result is higher than the total number of fighters in their crew (the number who were present at the start of the scenario, plus any that have been added since), the gang bottles out

at 14:25 you forgot to roll a dice if you hit your Nox the Ripper. You missed the shot for the Escher, but Nox laying within 1" of the straight shooting line, you have to test if you hit him instead.
I've watched a dozen new necromunda videos, yet to see escher win. Hopefully gang war proves to introduce balance to the game.
Iceni Wargames its the 2d teeny tiny boards that does it, Goliaths are way way better in that type of game.
Honestly think eschers with their pace n close combat stuff are the better gang when you play it properly...
Escher are just harder to play, they require an element of finesse that the Goliath don't require. You need to be better with group activations and make sure you use poison weapons at the right time.

Most of the time, they lose because they don't use the best guns and methods, and they get unlucky dice rolls. Also, if your opponent gets lucky, then you're done, regardless. What we should be talking about is if the game itself is a bit unbalanced. Other than that, it's mostly them being unlucky/bad players. To win with Escher, you need to be good. Goliaths are easier, it seems. Although, there is clearly some unbalance in the core game.
The trick is not to go for the dumb option and to use numbers. Avoid toxic weapons, and focus on just outmaneuvering and swarming over your enemies. Mov 5-6 is wasted if your stand still and shoot or wait for your enemy to come to you. Also , don 't play on small none vertical boards as it removes most of the benefits of playing esher.

A few innocemt errors that seem to have already been picked up in the comments below, but one additional - only active fighters take the cool check after you begin to bottle. 'Active fighters' does not include engaged models.

now i might have this wrong but i don't think unstoppable behemoth prevents all attacks - only a single one - by that I think one injury dice is discounted? not an entire round of combat.

What I really ought to do is review the big compendium hardcover rulebook, as it’s more what the old gamers expected at release
@@GuerrillaMiniatureGames Yeah, the YakTribe folks tend to frame it as Necromuda '18 (i.e. a new edition as opposed to the underhive box) so I think you're probably right. Book of Peril is a decent corollary to Outlanders.

Man , I really had hoped it was Necromunda by some other game company..
Having seen a couple of batreps from this game, it really does seem like goliath have an edge, between a save thats actually worth a damn and higher toughness, Escher usually bottle first.
Played my first game yesterday, same mission but made my own escher gang for my friend to use, Escher won. Melta trap basically blocked off the one doorway early on and funneled my guys into a fire lane of bolter and two plasma pistols. I rolled a 5 on my bottle with Goliaths and the game ended turn 4 with a 4-1 win to escher...
My wife absolutely kicked my ass as Escher ❤️
The key is not to use the pre-made Escher gang. The kit contains a shotgun - use it! On top of that, the Escher should be using their chem-synths every time they use a chem weapon or a stiletto. It negates the toughness difference.
I a playing with my old Orlock gang. The new rules mention mesh armour but dont clarify the saving throw, can someone help!

Doesnt the card Ash had ignore -1- of the 3 hits Owen did?
"play this card after an attack is made....the attack has no further effect." It does sound like it would just negate 1 attack.
Reading it again, a shooting attack is a single die roll in Necromunda; it can result in multiple HITS. Hit and attack are different things in a shooting attack. If it was melee it would cancel an attack, of which you can make multiple. So I suppose it depends on which is taking place!

You're getting a rule wrong. The bottle roll has to be d6+seriously injured and out of action fighters = higher than the number of fighters at the beginning of the game, not currently.
I played the first scenario with my escher gang and tabled the goliaths and only lost one of my girls. toxic weapons are deadly.
Where was the dice tray bought from? tried to find it on the Guerrilla page but didn't see anything I could buy

Hey Ash hate to be 'that' guy but I think you might be using Grendel wrong. His rivet cannon is unwieldy which means its a double action to shoot.

The base box Grendel doesn't have that skill, did they change some in the campaign?
Holy shit I just checked.. apologies dudes!! Grendal does not have Bulging Biceps... yet more proof that the base box characters are unplayable haha. Grendal becomes next to useless without that skill. Which, he can take freely....
I know right? Like why didnt they just give him that skill to begin with as an example of how to build a character. Like Tumala with sprint to make up for her chem-thrower's range.

They are but gas is different... toxin rolls as you said instead of rolling the injury die.

I bought the box set and gang war rulebook. Disappointing is the only words to describe it. It doesn't have the rules for all six original gangs. So only a 30% release with hopes to release the other 66%. I do however like the new skills and gang changes. The rulebook gang war isn't worth buying in my opinion, unless you like escher or goliath.

Guerrilla Miniature is it just me, or the rulebook seem randomly compiled compared to the originals? I keep reading them and still looking for rules that seem to belong in the section I'm reading but randomly elsewhere.

I was so excited for this miniatures, but the Escher ones just absolutely lack the character and charm of the originals. Goliaths aren't too bad.

This seems over-complicated and very limited - especially when compared to 1995 version. This is not really a new version of Necromunda, rather it feels like 40k on a board.
Gangs are so unbalanced. Not just the toughness disparity but also the cool. Dumb gang choice, especially in a 2D game. Kinda like the core mechanics though. Will see what the community does to smooth out the edges, especially the shallow progression, although the deal breaker for me is whether they release a compiled version of the rules. Until then, I'm out.
Toby Hall I've won lots of games with Eschers. The starting Gang is somewhat overcosted but even then they can win. A lot of people on the internet just don't play very well, that's all.
To be fair that electro whip would have done work without the spell card... I'm gonna play custom games without the spells

Mesh is in the Gang War Rulebook. 5+ save all the time.
