      You obviously don't understand the difference between private property and personal possessions. Private property refers to capital, not your precious toothbrush. You can see personal possessions turned into capital in capitalist USA when they take your possessions and charge you fines, fees and interest in order to get your possessions back. To the people possessing that capital, those fines, fees and interest is profit derived from capital. You could argue that this is socialist because it is the state that is seizing personal possessions, but it is done in a very capitalistic way, and the profit is probably going into certain involve state officials' pockets instead of the state in general, which is really just capitalism in the guise of state. All indicators point to the fascist stage of capitalism. But yes, keep bitching and moaning about other countries, like that's really going to improve your actual problems.

    • @ILikeFreedomYo
      @ILikeFreedomYo 4 роки тому +9

      @Vovin you need to look up the definition of socialism. And I don't mean Google's definition. I mean like classic dictionary definition from 20 years ago.
      It's state controlling the means of production.
      Your talking about Communism. The state owning all property. Which still doesn't justify your claim of taxes, fines and fees. There is still private ownership from where those fees are collected.

    • @ILikeFreedomYo
      @ILikeFreedomYo 4 роки тому +8

      @E 10 What I mean by Venezuela is the Venezuelan state is currently using any excuse or even no excuse to place private property into the States hands. In socialism there supposedly is still property. Venezuela has in managed like every other socialist dictatorship to cross the socialist boundary into Communism by seizure of not only means of production but property.

    Civil asset forfeiture is unconstitutional. It's simply government theft with zero due process. Not only that, but the Constitution guarantees the right to protection from undue or extreme punishment. Losing a vehicle, which many people work large portions of their life for, against a misdemeanor crime, is the very definition of why this clause was written. It's tyrannical government, plain & simple.

    Here in California I had my car stolen one night from in front of my house. I reported the incident to police; filed a report and left my information for them to contact me. Surprisingly enough my car was found about two days later. Car was in a tow yard for 3 days before police reached out to me about it being recovered. I arrive at the tow yard to recover my vehicle ; and to my surprise I was told I had to pay 300$ for a police recovered vehicle + 60$ per day in the tow yard. At that point I wasn’t going to accept those fees so I decided to forfeit ownership ; which also came with a fee, another 60$ fee to give them OWNERSHIP of my own vehicle. I learned of the scam that is tow yards that day ,and how the police isn’t here for the interest of the common working man or woman.

      Wonder if they straight up just towed it from you then tried to ransom it back to you. They probably do that all the time. Just straight up steal cars legally parked not in any violation and extort the owners. Disgusting. And they know either way they win.
      This is why all private tow yards should be illegal. It's outrageous crime. It's a car theft racket.
      Had a similar thing happen to me. Reported my car stolen, it was found, placed in a police tow yard and when I was able to pick it up was told I would have to pay. I should have fought it but I was desperate. I pray one day these criminals are stopped.

      I used to agree, but many Republican leaders support civil asset forfeiture laws as well. The southern states are the worst. It won’t stop until my fellow libertarians/those on the right, etc wake up and realize that the police ARE the government and by blindly supporting them, we’ve enabled big government control over us.

    Same thing that happened to the first lady's boyfriend, is the same thing that happened to me. 19 at the time, that's how I got my car impounded. Had to pay at least $1,700. I wish I had known my rights then like I do now. They were definitely violated that day.

    With me I went through a similar situation dealing with the corrupt police tow yard. Difference is I had the money, but what happened is my license is suspended. So I couldn't get a registration for the vehicle. I just wanted the car so I could tow it back to the leasing company since it was in an accident. I was going to take a hit, but it wouldn't have been as bad as not having the car at all. The tow place told me they only release it if I have title or registration. Now mind you the car had been impounded before totally unrelated situation and I got it out with a proof of lease document. This time however they decided not to budge and sold my car within a 2 week time frame. I was devastated and still dealing with the situation as far as trying to get a new vehicle years later.

    The disgusting tactic of civil asset forfeiture is never warranted and is without exception unconstitutional. Under no circumstances does the US Constitution allow any government entity to seize property from innocent people. Third party use of that property to commit crime never justifies an end run around the US Constitution.

    Ahhhh.. in America, it's a privilege to own a car, not a right.
    While her boyfriend was never charged with the crime of prostitution:
    1. Was he charged with anything else?
    2. Did your boyfriend have a current and valid DL?
    3. Did the car display current tags?
    4. Where there any outstanding parking tickets/violations on the vehicle?
    Moral of this story - Next time a friend asks for your car to "hang around" high crime/drug areas, tell them to find another idiot to ask. Owners can be held legally responsible for giving permissive use of their property for use in a crime.

    Civil asset forfeiture is unlawful under the 4th, and 8th amendments to the United States Constitution. Furthermost, it is a direct threat to the lives of law enforcement officers, as a Constitutional American will keep calm and fire back, giving as good as he/she gets. Theft is illegal in all forms. Under USC Title 18 section 241-242, any seizure of property without due process constitutes "deprivation of property" under this law. Being Federal, it applies in every state in the Union.

      I'm not sure if you watch much news, but all across this country there have people who have deliberately attacked police officers at random. This is especially true over the last 5 years or so. The point I am making is whether one feels it's right or wrong, things like this particular story are alot to do with it. The culture in general that police seem to have across the entire country is not one of "serving". Info not agree with people saying there is systemic racism but I wholeheartedly agree that the police in this country at every level need to be reigned in and held to at bare minimum the same standards we are. If this does not happen then there will continue to be a civil war between the public and the police, especially in inner cities. They have shown an unwillingness to have a dialogue of any kind, and those of us who believe in liberty and the Constitution will never back down.

My friend jokingly said yeah and when the dealer said ok let me call my connect my friend said I'm not interested and left. About 6 cops came on all sides and took his vehicle saying that he intended to transport illegal substances. This was before weed was made legal. Now mind you this wasn't even Detroit it was a suburb of Detroit. They offered his car initially at 700 when he got the car in the first place for only 1200.
