What an absolutely fantastic talk! Just brilliant. I've written about this myself, specifically how women are under portrayed in film/tv, and how sexualised, masculinised and/or stereotyped they are. Its rather depressing seeing all the statistics and facts out there, but this video has given me more hope. Thank you so much! Keep spreading your message.

Everybody deserves to be represented. Love is Global and ubiquitous irrespective of status, gender and race

This is a fantastic point and I am so glad I watched. There is so little representation for women, men and women of colour and human beings that don't fit into the 'able-bodied' stereotype in all forms of media. Novels and magazines are just as bad. I fantastic example of the white-washing of Hollywood is the Hunger Games, and despite Jennifer Lawrence's fantastic performances she is still a white actress playing the role of a young woman described as black haired and olive skinned. In the book Peeta loses a leg and Katniss' hearing is permanantly damaged, both of which were left out of the films. In Avenger's canon Hawkeye has a hearing impairment and this was not included in the films - is never even mentioned. The majority of novels that are selected to be made into films have white male or female protagonists. It is so important for their to be representation in films - especially those aimed at young adults at a time of life where image is so important. Thank you for covering this!

Whenever you bring up the lack of female or non-Caucasian protagonists in games oyu just get an angry mob of male gamers going "Why would I want to play as a woman or a black dude?!?" "How dare you expect us to relate to a woman!" (actual quotes)
So I guess there's still many people who only want to hear stories about themselves and alas, that's pretty much the only group Hollywood, game companies and the like cater too.
But great talk, and I think it's starting to get better, slowly but surely.

So true about love - it's classic brainwashing.
