I take 4 busses to get to my high school everyday and life is really hard for me and my family financially. I'm a 4.0 GPA student and I'm taking an engineering class at school, and I hope I'll get to become an engineer one day
+Noob Prophet Haha Thanks! When I was in school I would look for these kind of videos. Back then no one was really making them, so I decided to share my Engineering experience on here.
I'd recommend that most people graduating into good paying jobs out of college not put a large sum of their income towards depreciating assets. I was lucky to land a job at about 110k/year out of college working in the nuclear industry and in the 3 years I've been in the field I've set aside 120,000 into savings. That money is making me roughly 7,000-8,000$/yr through investments on top of my earnings from work and it just keeps growing. Compound interest works wonders and can build a pretty massive nest egg with the right saving patterns. I totally understand the satisfaction of buying nice things for yourself and respect your decision to spend your money however you want though.
Kyle Link i agree, but if you do wanna buy something like a ferrari then it can work out to get something 10years old or older, because it depreciates very slowly at that point, or sometimes even increases in value. But there will be maintenance costs.
If you don't mind me asking, what did you major in and where do you invest your money? I'll be graduating soon and I'd like to make wise financial decisions like you.
KeyboardWarrior True, but buying a Ferrari is a huge investment. Buying a brand new or a few year old Ferrari is a lot better as to buying an older Ferrari model. They do depreciate like hell usually but then the maintenance bills and resell is hard af.
Thanks for your support! All my videos are for the students that sometimes wonder whether Engineering is worth it. Just like I wondered when I was a student.
This gave me even more hope and courage that I can take engineering, so far math hasn't been much of a challenge but I've had troubles with science I can fix that, after watching this I know I can , prove everyone wrong that I'm not a failure that I used to be, and show my mom that I'm better than what she thinks of me
Don’t do anything to prove yourself to others, you will end up chasing a life of discontent. Do things because they make you happy, at the end of the day thats all that matters.
Engineering can be very rewarding. Some of the things to take into account when we look at money, however, is the location, experience, industry, company, etc. A Civil Engineer in NYC won't get paid the same as one from Peora, IL. In general, assuming there are no loans, or big debts to pay off from attending school or living up the college lifestyle and you're responsible with your money, engineering salaries are good to lay the ground for a good future.
Dude. This was really inspiring to me. I want to try and become a mechanical engineer and work around cars when I’m older and I’m gonna try and take on these challenges. It will be so worth it once I finish I think
Wow the salary difference is huge from Norway and USA... Here we earn 65-70k$ a year as just en Electrician, and probably close to 100k a year as an engineer in the beginning...
I started CS but I've switched to Electrical Engineering. Now I'm at going to start the 4th semester. I'm married and have a kid. I have some apps the generate some revenue and my university pays me and my wife (A journalism student) some money. But we don't live the life we like to and sometimes I feel very guilty about that. I hope I get a good job after college. I'm from Brazil and really like your videos, they somehow inspire me to continue punching life when she says I'll fail. Thanks :)
This bothers me soo mush...because unlike european contries or america ,engineers in my country get payed around 600$....a month...that is if they were lucky enough and have enough connections to land a job...as a engineering student in a developing country i feel very discouraged that the best i can probebly do in life with any sort of mentality or effort will be almost the same as if i dont..just doing some lame job in some lame facility dreaming of what i couldv done if i was born in other countries. Its even really hard to go outside and living in a new country out of scratch and with no relations is semi impossible Niether the less instead of complaining i do love engineering both mecanical and software engineering ..and i do wish you the best of luck in the future! This turned out to be a longer text than i had anticipated..
Hi Kilua, When I made these videos, I didn't realize the huge gap in income between the US( and European Countries) and other parts of the world. I understand where you are coming from, as I myself spent some years in a different country. What I can tell you is that a lot of large US companies have sections all over the world(possibly your country as well) and I know several of my coworkers transferred to the US from other parts of the world because they worked hard where they were at. Managers recognized their hard work and they managed to move to the US and made as much as the average here. Another key point to keep in mind is that the cost of living here (silicon valley) is crazy expensive, so salary has to be adjusted. Otherwise everyone would move out of here. Don't think that your hard work won't be rewarded. Thanks for your support man! Good Luck!
RelearnMath you just mad not my day but probably my whole month..was running really low on determination to keep on trying hard but ill just keep doing it! Thank you soo mush man ^^
I am currently in my sophomore year of comp/electrical engineering, and I wanted to do comp science first but I changed it to engineering. My dream car is a Porsche Cayman S, and along with several other things you mentioned are the same with me. Your current status basically outlined my plan for the future lol.
I am thinking about studying engineering. after studying for 1 year to be an electrician I cannot find a job and colleagues that did find one had to work for 3 months for free to get hired (normal in New Zealand) I hope to be as successful as you are one day! Thanks for the video.
Love this video, I am in my senior year of high school and got accepted into the University of Pittsburgh for computer engineering and the co-ops there are really amazing! I also applied to Penn State and should hear back soon, once again awesome videos!
Im certainly going to leave a like on this video hermano! Came from nothing with many disadvantages and you carved your own path to success. As sexy and badass as that Porsche is though, Im hoping to hear your perspective on that beauty in 3-5 years. Was the interest and depreciation in value worth it?
Thank you for this video! I am in my fourth semester in electrical engineering. This video along with some of your other videos have made me push myself a bit harder💪🏻💪🏻
You need to mention you live in Cali. I have been told 70k in Cali is lousy for engineering, but here in the mid-west 70k is considered high. I think average for USA is about 65k... that include high cost areas like Cali, and low cost areas like somewhere in the middle of Oklahoma. On a lighter note, did you buy a new 911? nice
Thanks man. Fortunately I grew up with a family of bankers, so we had money for ourselves, but I feel that I’m pushing myself too much. I’m learning some of the cad softwares used with student license, but nothing related to the school program. I think from this video, I should just focus on school and learn this in college because I will need to take a class of cad regardless I would assume.
This is a very good motivation video, I'm barely starting into automotive engineering and it's pretty difficult, but at the end you'll be rewarded for all the effort and work, thanks man for your advices
in my country(iran) normal engineer roughly makes around 500$ a month and when i watch these videos i nearly cry because of the difference between two countries and i try too hard to get out of my country and live in another one but because of my country its hard to move out
Wow 80k offer before you got out of college! That is awesome! I'm a senior in Civil Engineering with no internships and I'll be happy to even make 60k when I get out. Or even get a job.
thanks bro it inspired me a lot i am also in your situation right now i am going to start my mechanical engineering bachelors this October can wait to prove the haters wrong
Im really interested in automotive engineering but the only problem is my country isn't a really big car industry.. i felt like moving out from my country after graduating but it needs alot of money..
Your right man go for it dam right I’m going to go for it I’ll do whatever it takes to become successful in life to show my family members to show my future kids when ever I have some that I wasn’t a disappointment in life
Nice. I really wish I saw this before! I just graduated engineering a year ago. I made it but grades aren't good for grad school and have no intern experience. I should of have taken an extra year maybe. Right now looking for a job and reading up on my interest about space, cfd, simulation and stuff.
im about to graduate high school this year and i really wanna become a mechanical engineer but i don’t know which engineering job i should go for, maybe you can give me some advice?if you see this comment And My dream car is a Dodge Challenger Hellcat 😈
It's about to be a year since I earned my Bachelors in Mechatronics and still no job. I also feel like I'm slowing forgetting everything I learned. Any tips?
An average engineer in italy is paid 11€ per hour and our cycle of engineering studies is way more complicated than in most of other countries. (I say this with respect to what foreign students says).
Well, unfortunately I ignored science and math classes during elementary and high school.I tried to catch up while in community college but it's not as easy as it seems. There's not enough hours in a day.So I guess I'm screwed.Good for you though.
@ReLearnMath Bro you sound just like me down to the T. Only difference is i'm construction management major. I've just started my junior year at university in the program and the company I interned for (general contractor, which also paid me 20 bucks an hour), just gave me a full time offer once i graduate and I still have 2 years left of school. You know the funniest thing? My dream car is a 981 porsche cayman S or GTS JUST like your picture xDDD
Hahaha nice! Congrats on your job offer! Yes the GTS is the perfect car, mid engine, luxury and not to powerful...so I can drive it to it's full potential!
Sorry didn't see this reply until now. The basics of construction management is exactly what it sounds like, management of time, money, and quality. The pay is really good, the hours are long though. I wanted to be an engineer at first but came to realize that I just suck at math, so construction management was the next best thing, and funny thing is i'd say 7/10 "design engineers" transfer into management engineers (which is what my title will be, "project engineer" *commercial construction market). You've gotta know how to estimate costs from the construction documents aka the plans and specs, schedule tasks, manage your subcontractors doing the work for you, write all inclusive scope contracts, be good at speaking and communicating in a team enviornment, and most importantly you gotta know how to solve problems, and i'm not talking about math problems, i'm talking about real world problems that you don't see coming that happen on a daily basis, ie: something breaks and you have to implement a mitigation plan, there is a delay and you have to figure out how to get back on schedule, the material delivery is not to spec, etc.
“Learn to work harder on yourself than you do on your job. If you work hard on your job you can make a living, but if you work hard on yourself you'll make a fortune.” Jim Rohn I see you're making more videos go all the way, go all the way. FN
I have been studying engineering since 2016 and I find the opportunities in engineering too little. Already trying to find a technical internship is going from difficult to impossible. The teachers refuse to make me an endorsement letter, give me a summer internship, ... Maybe my experience is different because my university is more oriented towards development instead of fundamental research. But I must say that most of these engineering videos are not promoting concrete arguments for becoming an engineer.
The channel is about my experience with Engineering, not really trying to make a claim. I talk about my experience and it’s up to people to decide what to do with the information.
@@RelearnMath Thanks a lot. I would like to express my comment does not target you but is intended to be a comment that might make some sense for viewers. But the thing is some things do not work out depending on the setting, the environment or the timing. Wish you luck in your career!

I still haven’t graduated yet. I changed my major from EE to CS at the time of the comment. I really struggle with the academic system especially at my college. I speak regularly with most people such as the dean, student counsellor, etc.
Look into the cost of living...on paper 100k seems significantly better because you’re comparing it to what it can buy in your country. Look into high tech sector cities like San Jose and look at rents, food, etc
@@RelearnMath i have some questions. I'm a senior in highschool and I want to be a engineer, but idk what to choose from: electrical or mechanical. Also, i want to know if its hard, and if its worth it and, if its enjoyable?
In India civil engineer get 200$ per month as a fresher ... unfortunately 80$ engineers are unemployed in India ...engineers here now working job in call centres ..what a shame
I also find engineering interesting but I don't want to become one because the salary here in the UK is very low. I will be lucky to be earning $35K as a graduate. For most people their pay maxes out at $50K. I don't just want to do what I'm interested in because it would be a big downgrade from living in a $150K+ household
I am a truck driver for Office Max Office Depot and my major is civil engineering. I am still taking my GEC, but I was wondering if I can still apply to an internship.
Hi, I'm an engineering student, and I passionate about engineering, but recently I made friends working in insurancy industry that earn a 10k monthly salary in just 4years, 20k monthly salary in 7years and so on. So, it comes to my question that can engineer earns 30k monthly salary? How to achieve that?

Mr. Crazy homie what type of engineer
Best of luck to you! I'm pretty much on the same boat in college. But knowing that you can do it, is a good feeling.
I really hope everything is coming along for you. All the best
u an engineer?
I cant wait! Not because of the money....but because how many people I got to prove wrong. Also tired of living the life I live

Are you a electronic engineer or a electric engineer?
Be in business and hire the engineers!!
Or become an engineer then build your own business.
Im really interested in automotive engineering but the only problem is my country isn't a really big car industry.. i felt like moving out from my country after graduating but it needs alot of money..
Your videos have showed me not to waste time I want to become a electrical engineer is that good for 2020
Go for it man!
¡Si se puede!
Your right man go for it dam right I’m going to go for it I’ll do whatever it takes to become successful in life to show my family members to show my future kids when ever I have some that I wasn’t a disappointment in life

Graduating with a 80k salary? Wild! Good job man. PS, is this USA currency?
US Dollars definitely
- Niilo Damn, in my country that would be near 100k salary then.
Lock JR where do you live?
Yes USA currency. Are you Singaporean? It's roughly around 100k in Singapore.
I live in Toronto, Canada. Your salary would be 96k which seems close to 100k. That's just the life of the Canadian dollar, I guess.
You just gave me hope man I was about to throw this semester, really thank you 👍
Hi Ben,
I understand! there was days where I wanted to quit Engineering School
But, I think loving your job is more important since you spend most of your whole life at work.
What about starting a business from scratch and following my dreams? I'm in school but I feel like it's a waste of time.
Raul villatoro you can do it :) don't ask about it to anyone else. People will discourage you.
im about to graduate high school this year and i really wanna become a mechanical engineer but i don’t know which engineering job i should go for, maybe you can give me some advice?if you see this comment And My dream car is a Dodge Challenger Hellcat 😈
Yeah anime motivates me too bro
Inspiring.

I see you're making more videos go all the way, go all the way. FN
this made me tear up bro, my situation is similar. Going for ME
Good luck man!
If I might help anyone with your career or that you are looking for a direction, you can ping me in the comment or any social networks even send me e-mails
I still haven’t graduated yet. I changed my major from EE to CS at the time of the comment. I really struggle with the academic system especially at my college. I speak regularly with most people such as the dean, student counsellor, etc.
This really.... I'm definitely going to be an engineer now
Good vid man :)
Hey man great story! Definitely motivating! I am a junior student
Inspiring!
Almost have my AS can't wait for the degrees!
Which university did you go to, and which university do you recommend for primary major in electrical engineering?
Goals
What type of engineer are you
Nice man
Do you think it is worth to move in usa because as mechatronic engineer in my country you earn 30 000 $ at best but in usa average is 100 000$
Look into the cost of living...on paper 100k seems significantly better because you’re comparing it to what it can buy in your country.
Which is that dream car?
It was amazing
Do you actually have a Porsche Cayman or was that just a way to show that you have a nice car.
I never said I had it, I said "I have the ability to buy my dream car" which happens to by the Cayman.
Inspirational Video!
How can you dislike his videos
bus > car
In India civil engineer get 200$ per month as a fresher ... unfortunately 80$ engineers are unemployed in India ...engineers here now working job in call centres ..what a shame
Man if I lived in California I would show you all of my inventions and things I can build with no instructions
Did you buy or lease the car?
