The pressure waiting to hear your score on the Calamari! Glad you enjoyed it, there's a reason this place is always busy with locals :) Málaga is one of our favourite cities and it felt like we were there with you, brilliant! Although with the WC sign on the inside of the door does that mean you can have a pee in the corridor?
Scott I spat out my coffee when you got into trouble in the market 🤣🤣🤣 I’ve been to Malaga a few times and it seems I missed a lot. It’s a beautiful place. Thanks for the laughs 😂
After living there in Málaga for almost two years and having to leave it almost forcefully because of covid I have to say I really miss it and your video took me back to memory lane. It's great to see the city is full of life again and looking forward to returning there soon
Other than our very own gods country 🏴🏴🏴🏴 Malaga and benelmadena are my favourite places , nice wee video keep up the good work 👍🏻
fair play for going up to la rosaleda, home of the best supported club in third tier spanish football. malagas a very under rated city that most tourists never visit on their holidays to the costa
Fabulous! I didn’t realise Malaga was so beautiful & interesting. The history, diverse culture, architecture and food! Love your sense of humour. Thank you.
If you’re still in Malaga, Scott, then a local recommendation for you. Check out an ice cream place called Casa Mira (located on Calle Larios) and an ice cream they sell called Turron. It has an almond flavour and is a local delicacy, often eaten around Christmas time (but sold all year). You know it’s a good place when you have to take a number and wait to be called to be served. Well worth any wait though.
Just had two nights in Malaga. Brilliant place and we will be back. It was made all the better as it was a bank holiday weekend, except as a result is was rammed! Malaga were also playing on Sunday against Almeria. The bar which was closed in the video was open and not far from our hotel but it was so busy with a very long queue so we never managed a drink. We decided the Spanish spend all day just eating!
Great video. Note in the station. You can't get on the Ave platforms, but you can get a really good view of them through a glass wall from the 1st floor of the shopping area.
Disneyland effect... I know exactly what you mean and it just never goes away. I always sleep terrible the day before travel. But once Im there and everything is sorted I completely crash and the next day I wake up fresh as a daisy and the adventure can truly begin! And cool, I think at 23:24 on the right you see a Canarian Dragon Tree! If something reminds me of summer holidays, its that!
Lovely city! I don't remember it being such a beautiful place and I love all the sculptures. I was in Malaga many years ago but staying on the outskirts. And we left from that railway station to go to Madrid, and from there to Gerona for the flight home. That ice cream looked the business, Scott!
Went to Malaga last May with the intention of mostly drinking lemonade, OJ and Fanta. Peach juice at the carrefour express was also amazing. But when I got a free drink with desert at Chiringuito Tropicana that changed everything! Agua de Valencia and Tinto de Verano were more refreshing than I could've thought was possible, but the flavour of Pacharan and Brandy de Jerez was an amazing unexpected surprise. I haven't consumed alcohol for 15yrs, but in Malaga I was having 3 drinks every evening and not getting drunk or getting hangover headaches/gut-rot, only good feelings. Spanish booze tastes great and doesn't hurt, booze isn't like this back home unless it's 100% authentic small-batch craft and that's just the starting point. Recipes and processes need to be good as well, but Spain has it all finely-tuned to perfection. Thanks for doing a second 'first' visit video, more exploring and more ideas is the best!
Brilliant video pal...Malaga sometimes gets bypassed as people land there and scoot down to the Costa Del Sol but well worth taking the time to explore. Cheers.
I had a trip out there a few years ago. Accommodation was through AirBnB & I got an apartment very close to the underpass near Hard Rock Cafe. When I was there Malaga FC were up in the top with Real Madrid & Barcelona!!! I want to go back
The Ferry to Malilla goes from Malaga, it's a great place to visit and worth it just for the Ferry crossing ! We had Dolphins accompanying us for most of the crossing there and back .
You managed to cover pretty much everything, except La Maguletta Beach. When I first visited it was the original Railway Station (Maria Zambrano since 2007), was big and empty, no shops and no English anywhere, that was about 30 years ago, it's a very changed place now but I still love it and you did it proud.
Hi Scott, I've also stayed in that hotel, although only for one night on my way to Melilla. I also thought it was very good. It was the tiny wee lift that reminded me of the place! I had a large balcony overlooking the street and it was very well priced.
Another great video Scott. I love this city so much and is one the most underrated in Europe. Great for walking dining and shopping too if that's your thing? I like to spend time at the beautiful port when there
I’ve booked to go to Malaga at the start of December. Was excited when I booked it…am even more excited now I’ve seen this video. Thanks very much Scott and keep up the good work!! 😀👏👏
I love Malaga - and all of Andalucia actually. Haven't been for a few years. Your video has whet my appetite for a return later in the year when its a bit cooler there.
I didn't get a lot from your video of Pizzara(?) because I'm definitely not a hiker...but I love Malaga and totally enjoyed this video. It's such a beautiful place. Good one❤❤
Had a short break in Malaga in April. It’s a lovely place. It was busy when the cruise ships were in port but less so when they left in the evening. The walk up to the Gibralfaro castle is brutal in the midday sun but you don’t half feel virtuous when you get there. You can get a combined ticket for the castle and the Alcazaba which is worth it as both are worth seeing from the inside. A walk along the beach to Malaga Este is worth the effort as there are a lot of tavernas and restaurants out there which are far less busy than the city that cater more for locals. You can also get the bus back for a couple of euros. That hotel though…
Now I want a plate of calamari. :) Great video, as always. And an excellent travel tip would be to avoid smelling fruit uninvited in Malaga unless you are seeking a personal tour of a prison cell. 😂
Another good tour, glad young Mr Marsh was able to point you in the right direction for food. Memo to self: Uphill walking walking should be avoided at all costs unless absolutely necessary. Keep up the good work!
I know what to call my onion rings now! Nice video, was glad to see you eating that ice cream as you look very thin, keep on knocking back the calories! I didn't realise Malaga was in division 3 either so thanks for an informative video.
Great viďeo mate you went before summer which can be very hot as in sevilla ,granada and cordoue among other places down there ,the quick look at the market fruit prices are as expensive as in France but looked tourists orientated maybe the reason for the high prices, looking forward to your next video
Beautiful tour, cheers! I was there exactly a year ago but only to catch a train to Granada for a couple of days, then Cordoba for a couple more days, then Sevilla for a day. So much beauty on that trip, it was overwhelming. I didn't even think to look around Malaga. looks great.
Really enjoyed that Scott, what a lovely place Malaga is, I was there recently but only the airport as I was staying at Benalmadena, but next time I will be sure to visit Malaga, another great vlog Scott 👍
In my experience calamari usually taste like eating the eraser off my pencil when at school. Best seafood experience was called espedata (I think), in Albufera in Portugal. It is a swordfish steak. Smells like fish but tastes like chicken. Shark tastes the same.
My memory of Malaga was flies. Las moscas. They're are a lot of lemon tress in Malaga, and this attracts the flies in the warmer weather. Hopefully you weren't bothered by them too much.
Try staying at the Ataranzanas hotel.. It's not expensive, but if you book it room only you will savefeven more then walk directly opposite the hotel in the morning to the Ataranzanas food market and eat there.. on the street... it's amazing.. 😂👍🏴
@@rosemarymee Steve appears to have the best of both worlds, a partner who works and feeds him, while he goes galavanting around the world, in comfort, may I say and at the expense of his Patreons who feed into his bank account ( Such Fools)
I have a feeling that the room was supposed to be a quad room when seeing a socket at the level of where the upper bunk bed would be.😅 I'm also interested to know whether that "external private toilet" is shared with other rooms as well. With the word "private" I would hope they won't, but on the other hand it may just mean the room is not shared with random people coming in the hotel.
I was getting renaissance / baroque from the churches likely because it was only captured from the Moors in the end of the fifteen century and may well have been a port used by the conquistadors The the bull ring and markets reeked of nineteenth century industrialisation. The combinations made it interesting.
I found myself unexpectedly spending (and greatly enjoying}) two days in Malaga just before Christmas because the cruise I was on was curtailed by bad weather. No-one really minded. The Christmas lights were spectacular and there are two switch-ons per night, which attract big crowds. The weather was like a sunny English spring day. If you go back, I'd definitely suggest the two sights you avoided because of the queues. You can get a combined ticket for the two but they're not connected internally. I felt a sense of achievement after that hill walk and I'd already paid my entry fee so I was determined to get my moneysworth. Afterwards, I discovered there's a lift. The cathedral is more impressive inside than outside and you can pay a bit extra to walk around the roof. The Picasso Museum (not his birthplace) is surprisingly big and impressive. The cube over the Centre Pompidou is mainly a skylight. The actual museum is underground. I'd only bother going in if there's an exhibition that interests you. I'd definitely revisit. I mainly stuck to the port and the historic centre of the city but your video and others show that there's more to see.

When are you and Alicja going to North Berwick? Scott's been very patient on that front... 😊

Turron is nougat in Spanish.
I'm thinking of trying a place like this over the winter months . A Scottish winter and chest infections aren't much fun !
Make sure you’re well insured if you do go. Some Spanish hospitals are awful.
I live an hour away from Malaga and thought I knew the city well. You introduced me to a couple of new places. Many thanks
Great video, Scott. The WC on the inside of the loo made me laugh. I guess they put it there to remind you were you are.
