I see this as another language just as portuguese and spanish, very closer between them but two different languages. Why we cannot talk about "austrian, english, german..."? It's a different article, words with a different form but same meaning as eng. sea, ger. Meer, dan. hav or french mer, italian mare. Thank you for liking and subscribing. Speaking Standard German is enough for living in Austria. We Austrians speak Standard German in school, university or at work because its seen as more "polite" and its the official language of Austria. But at home or with friends most of us speak in dialect. All the austrian dialects are either bavarian or allemanic. We do have some loan words from our neighbour countries Italy, Slovenia, Hungary etc.
@@Ingestohter Well Austrian's own identity by its own language in quotidian life. Due a some movies I watched, I saw more about Austria and I liked more than Germany and Switzerland now. Generally speaking, people in Austria speak German! We are not talking of two different languages! Austrian German is mutually intelligible with Standard German, with some differences in terms of accent and vocabulary. However, German-speaking visitors might get tripped up by certain regional dialects in some parts of the country

"Deutsch" ist hier falsch. Steirisch ist auch deutsch, wie Sächsisch, Schwäbisch oder Berlinerisch.
Sie meinen wohl "Standard-Deutsch."
Eiland ? für mich war immer Insel klassisch Hochdeutsch. Glaube Eiland hört man eher im Platt.

@@miramare1378 Austro-Bavarian and Alemannic are classified as different languages btw.
The dialects in almost all of Austria are Bavarian - talking about language there's nothing called "Austrian".
