I'm already on the road, heading up to my writing retreat! Of course, hours of driving gives me tooooons of ideas and time to brainstorm. So I now have 2 more potential projects for NaNoWriMo! lolol. My tinkly skull dice are going to be put to good use to figure out which 2 projects to work on! ☠

I love this time of year! The writing communities just buds with discovery and new adventures (or for some, revisiting old adventures)! I just updated my profile last night!!
I always forget about NaNoWrimo or Camp NaNoWrimo until it's the day before the start where I then rush myself with a project, make a promising start and then flounder around the 5,000 word mark. So, seeing this video a month before I might this time actually do some proper preparation and make a healthy attempt!
I seriously don't understand how it is already October... where has the year gone? Absolutely loving your word count scarf idea, and those colours are beautiful. I still don't know what project I'll be working on, but it will probably be OSASAOIT, and maybe flipping with Beneath the Hawthorn Lies. I'm might be bad and not count words for NaNo because me and word count goals aren't friends right now.

Yes, I think totally lean into that! Sometimes the word counts really aren't our friends. I've enjoyed having it be not SUCH a focus or motivation this year. (Until Project Death where I now have to focus on much I'm writing to make sure I'm not going over lolol. It is not as fun bahaha.)
This year I am mostly editing one novel. It has grown to 100K which is a personal best. Working full-time, my 'none word count,' based measure is to complete ten hours each week This gives me the flexibility some days to say, "no, not today." Best of luck to y'all prepping.

I am working on first draft of the second book in my contemporary romance series, and my non-writing goal will be to add descriptive details now, rather than letting that be 100$% a revision me problem.

Same, but I decided to work on my very first story i ever wrote 15 years ago (which has grown up a lot since then) to get it out of the „constant-revision“ garbage can 😂 greetings from germany btw, your videos always help me stay motivated ❤

This is year 16 of Nanowrimo for me! I've been doing it every single year since 2007 and I'm so excited for another year. I'll be writing book 3 draft 1 in my contemporary small town romance series. It's set during fall so I'm excited for that. I'd really like to get the thirty day badge this year and maybe the on par badge too. I haven't gotten those in years because I try to reach 50K early and when I do that I'm too burnt out to write the rest of the month lol. Looking forward to your vlogs!
A temperature blanket nade for word counts sounds AMAZING.
I am a discovery writer, which doesn't mean the same to me as to some people -- I fill in an outline as I go, sometimes bits are filled in well ahead of time and sometimes not. I move stuff around and do two or three versions of a scene if I need them -- it works for me. But it means my preptober is mostly about planning my time and energy. What am I going to let go for the month? Do I have timeslots for social writing events? How can I reduce demands on my executive function? Etc.
I have a bullet journal spread for preptober and it is: rules for the rebellion (how I'm tracking, editing vs drafting, etc), a planning space for next monrh's bujo (probably just a graph, but worth thinking about), a small brainstorm zone for plot bunnies, a mini calendar for November event planning, a place to list other responsibilities I can't escape, and a place to list things that 'refill the well' (which is always good to have if I know I will be writing more than usual)

I’ve been procrastinating on writing for a while now so my main goal for this year’s Nanowrimo is to simply start writing & write something. 😂 I’ll try to not concern myself with hitting that 50k too much cuz that’s pretty daunting, as long as I get some words on the paper I’m gonna be happy! As of what I’ll be writing, I have this nice new idea for Dark Souls III inspired fantasy novel and I’m excited 👀
I knit a pair of socks in between sprints or when I need to shut my brain off from word things. I love your crochet project idea!

Oh my goodness, all of this is so exciting! I started crochet like two-ish weeks ago and I hope it’s something that brings you joy, I enjoy it so much trying out new stitches and things!! I'm really going to have to prep well this year to a dot. I'm taking pretty hard classes rn and have about 700 pages of reading a week, and have to write loads of papers. Only way I'm going to be able to do this is if I prep really really well lmaooo

I’m working on a project called “An Honest Betrayal” ! I’m hoping that it will be a quick, 50,000 words, since most of it takes place over a matter of days/ weeks.
I'm so excited for those daily vlogs~ I'm going to attempt to outline a fantasy project I've had at the back of my mind for a while now, dripping my toes back into writing so to speak after a nearly 2 year hiatus. I also have tons of beading projects I want to do (including goth Christmas tree earrings and tetris inspired, which I'm very excited about), so I'm very much looking forward to November!
I'll be doing NaNoWriMo for the first time ever this year. Not going to do a novel, so I'm going down the rebel path. I want to still continue on with my Level 3 Childcare coursework as my tutor told me i haven't got long to go before it is completed. What else i will be throwing in is poems, short stories and drabbles 😊

This is my first time trying Nanowrimo since 2019 and I'm very excited! I have been working on a novel since 2015 nanowrimo that I decided to completely redraft this year, my goal is to finish that draft by nov 1st and spend all of november working on a new idea I recently came up with! My passion for writing has really been reignited this year and I feel more confidant than ever. Can't wait to try nanowrimo again!

I'm so damn excited for nanowrimo this year. I haven't participated in a traditional drafting-nano since 2016 and I really want to participate 'the normal way' this year (my 'nano' project for last year was literally a book-adjacent art project lmao).
I actually finished my (no-longer)-current WIP yesterday, so I can start planning my new project for prep-tober now! This is just meant as a fun pallet-cleanser project in between different books in my fantasy series, so the only real goal outside of the 50k is just to allow myself to enjoy it and have fun with it and not take it too seriously.
I've started outlining a project over the summer, so I'm leaning heavily towards using this project for NaNoWriMo this year, HOWEVER, I always deviate from my plans, and usually at the last minute, soooooo...I may also be brainstorming other projects for Preptober!! Not sure yet, but just having fun with all the community buzz and excitement!
I am knee deep in revising a post-apocalypse story I worked on for last year’s NaNo, so that will likely be my project to work on this year, but! I plan on using Preptober energy to help me sort out an idea I have for a fantasy novel. My notes for that are just hella messy and I wanted to figure out what sort of plotting work I’d need to start that project once I’ll ready to switch gears.
I'm hoping to work on an idea I got a couple years ago during my NaNoWriMo region's one Pretober meeting. One activity was to draw two titles/characters from different movies/shows/books, and brainstorm an idea from that. (Like how books are often described as Title x Title.) I drew Supernatural and Percy Jackson. That sounded awesome then, but couldn't come up with a story idea until this year. Still sounds awesome now, and little by little the ideas trickle in.
I can't believe it's already almost NaNo time again! I know what project I am working on this year but it needs So Much Work! I plan on doing weekly vlogs, I did them last year and I think it was the perfect amount of accountability to keep me motivated all month!
Preptober and NaNo combined make up one of my favorites times of year! I'm revisiting my project from last NaNo this year- the idea's changed enough to warrant a complete rewrite instead of just revisions. It's practically a completely different novel just set in the same world as before. I'm very excited to get back into it!
Also, I'm very hyped for the vlogs and potential streams! They're something to look forward to for sure.
Thinking about it, I absolutely adore the idea of a NaNo temperature blanket! I'm curious to see what kind of pattern you're planning on using for it
I thought your crochet idea was so great! I recently started crocheting as well (also by Woobles - I don't know for sure that's how you started, but I did see one in one of your videos). I just got the Impkins book by Megan Lapp, so I thought I'd make 4 Impkins (1 per week) during October and then in November, for every day I get my writing done (I'm going for 25 days - no Sundays and not on Thanksgiving), I get to pick an accessory for that week's Impkin. So the more I get done - the more extras that Impkin gets!

I’ll be working on a project I previously tried for camp nano which stars two side characters from my webcomic and how they got together. I have an outline but I think I keep second guessing myself.
My nano schedule that worked last year is actually a much less healthy way of doing things as I stayed up after midnight most days to complete the word goal for that day so any writing between waking up and midnight were bonus words 😅

I'm definitely not NaNoing this year, though I will be writing! Nothing has gone to plan in 2023 though so I'm not going to jinx myself. Can't wait to see which projects you pick and watch your videos!
Signed up to do NaNo last year and my computer died in last days of October. Have signed up again and am hoping that this time I really will get the chance to succeed at it. The word count scarf is a great idea and if I did not already have so many projects going I would totally go with this one too.
I'm diving into my very first preptober/nanowrimo experience and I'm so excited for this journey. Also I wanna do some vlogs (maybe 2-3) for preptober and some more for nano :D And I decided to do the whole preptober experience: I'm gonna brainstorm a new project. As I'm more of a pantser, my goal is to outline a little bit more than usual, so I won't get stuck during nano. And maybe I'll try 1st person...maybe xD I'm very excited for your daily vlogs :D

I also might have 2 projects for Nano. I’m not sure. I’m drafting a Gothic horror novel (not sure if it’s Adult or YA, need to write test chapters of both) and will probably be revising my PhD dissertation novel (4th draft) again if I get beta and critique partner feedback in October. It’s an Adult urban fantasy.
I don't like changing yarns enough to do that but you go!
First of all, tell me more about the crochet project! That kinda makes me want to do a crochet thing for nano, I already have so much yarn, I couild do stuffed animal or blanket or a scarf. Excuse me while m,y brain devlops crochet nano project.
I'm really hoping that by November I have my one book finished so that I can work on book two or my book one for my other project. That or my nano project will be something not related to either.

Part of my preptober includes collecting questions for the plot I need to answer using mini background short stories (500-1000 words) Things like "What does the camp really look like?" "What is this character's relationship to his brother like?" "Why is she like that?" Etc. At the end, I will have a trilogy outlined, I hope, that I can do a first draft of for part one.
i'm not a writer at all but i do make stuff with yarn... i don't know what i would track but i am a sucker for things like that and now i want to start some sort of trackable yarn project... ideas bubbling...
I have my 4 year (200k) book baby to write with that I do for most NaNoWriMos, but it's been super hard to get back into that book, probably because it's SOO long. So I shall be continuing on my Camp project that I got around 30k in. Hopefully another 50k and that book should be completely finished it's zero / first draft! Whoop!

This is my first time attempting Nanowrimo, I have 2 projects too, a main one and a secondary one. Both are romances, one is a regency romance and thriller the second one is a british rom-com. Not decided if they are both novels or if the second one will be a screenplay. My preptober plans are to just really get the outlining and plotting done and just be ready to write the draft of either one or both of them.
I am debating on my NaNo project. Either I try again with the rough draft to Cheryl (aka Project Phantom) or the rewrite for Night's. I'm going to do the outline for Cheryl for Preptober because I need it either way. I'm hoping that will tell me if I'm ready but, worse case, I'll flip a coin come Halloween for what to start on the 1st.

I'm in a similar situation, I'm going to try to first draft two ideas because I'm a serious underwriter and last year I ran out of things to do when I wasn't prepared to revise.
I will be working on 3 Broken Wings, the sequel to my current WIP, 4 Doomed Queens. I have 40k words left of 4 Doomed Queens, which I have to finish this month before November, in order for me to write 50k words of 3 Broken Wings for NaNoWriMo. So I likely won't have much time to plot of prepare for NaNoWriMo as I try to get these last 40k words in (also with being in highschool with a sport and two clubs... idk how I find time lol).
This year is going to be my first NaNoWriMo attempt in years! I'm really hoping to win this one, because I never have before. I'm planning on trying to make daily vlogs (mostly to keep myself accountable), and my non-word count goal is going to be completing a certain amount of writing time each day-- probably an hour or so. I'm really looking forward to next month!!

I’m participating again this year. I have participated a total of five times, I think. I’m working on finishing up an outline this month to finish by the end of Nanowrimo. It’s a small town romance.
Okay, it’ll be that or my fantasy adventure WIP. I’m horrible at making decisions these days, ha ha
I can only work on one project at a time tho, so it’ll be fun to see how I do.
My non WC-goal is to do daily vlogs, and try to do daily walks as weather allows. I’ll be in south east Texas during November, so I’m hoping I’ll be able to do those walks.

I love the word count scarf idea! I’m taking a dictation course right now that should wrap up around the first week of November, so I’m hoping to dictate the majority of NaNo. I know I’m writing within this one universe of possible story ideas but I have 3-4 stories to choose from. I don’t know if I want to focus on one or two or do all of them since they are all set in the same fictional city. I plan on vlogging Preptober and NaNoWriMo but I’ve planned on vlogging before and it just hasn’t happened. 😂
I’ve decided to try and write my first ever novel for NaNoWriMo this year, but at the same time I have all my end of year exams so it’s going to be quite the challenge but I’m excited.

This year I am hoping to get the first draft done for my new adult fantasy novel! The working title is "Haunted Cruise Ship" and I am hoping that I can get the first draft done and on to beta readers! I have a contemporary romance novel that is also sitting at a good point to be edited, so I may also hop into that if I can.
I have a rough plan for a fantasy novel from last year. Currently working through tidying that up and trying to decide if Nanowrimo is feasible for me this year. Hope so!! 😃

Just picked them going in 500 word increments is 0-500 dark blue 501-999 light blue 1,000-1,499 creamclicle orange and the top of my expectations is purple for 1,500-2,000 and if I possibly go over that I have a yellow that doesn’t look too bad with the others
I failed HARD at camp nano but I think im going to try a consistency goal rather than word count this november!

Where did you get your skull dice? I think I’ll be dictating my cop horror this year; my shoulder burns when I’m typing. My non word count is thirty min a day. I’ve written up a reminder list for nano. I think my new channel is Neil k Patrick. I want to weekly vlog.

This will be my second year of participation (I'm the girl who had a broken leg the previous year, and I'll have to do other stuff now.) When an idea that I love came to me in August, I knew I would try again.
I called the project "Nobody's Woman". It's about Edith Cross, an orphan born in 19th century New York who we'll be following through the Roaring Twenties and more as she struggles to navigate the high society and dallies with a mysterious rich guy who may or may not doom her forevermore. I called it "Nobody's Woman" because (almost) no one accepts Edith despite her beauty, seeing her as boring and improper, and trying to become acceptable in the high society is the crux of her character.
I'll be uploading the chapters on Wattpad.
Are there any recommended IG photo challenges for Preptober?

I started preparing on September as I have to help my oldest do a History class paper on Contemporary History😅 But the plan is to finish my first draft (yes, reach the end😅) and then start the First Draft on my PC (Ive been handwriting my book) and Im confident I can reach the 50k with the word count I have on my Fast Draft, I just need to make a schedule to be able to have writing time around all the things I need to do for my kids hectic schedules🫠
In this NaNoWriMo, I want to overcome my perfectionism and finally start writing and knocking out sentences without immediately critiquing and correcting them. The story should come first, not my ability to write sophisticated sentences. I hope so much to find the joy of writing again. ᨐ ∫
