he specifically targets octaves in 2 string patterns… so he just skips to get to what he memorizes in 2 string octave chunks and has a few variations of each lick to keep things sounding fluid. edit: key thing he does things typically in 3s and 6s but hes got a few 4 and 8s too
My pleasure, Thanks for being here Robert 🙏 Will upload the Tabs/Notation to the 'UA-cam Bonus' folder tomorrow ( Galactic Modern Guitar, on my website) Stay in touch
Great lesson Daniel as always. Really enjoying the Galactic Modern Guitar course. I’m in module one and it’s already improved my phrasing and how I link lines together. Well worth doing thanks man. 👍
Finally went through! Being a student of yours for a year this was a real pleasure to go through really showed me with your guidance my fundamentals are solid! And great lesson here too !
so, aware of the triad but putting it all together + the esercises already opened up my mind :-) love it -- yo've got another subscr.here, Thanks Mr.Daniel Weiss! 🙂
@@WeissGuitar you should definitely do a video about the more advanced artistic talk on how to "steal" and develop cool lines that we like from other famous guitarists
Hi Daniel, thanks for the overview I'm currently doing A minor pentatonic and C major practice with focus on triads to learn the fretboard. (as a side note, can I ask how you got the "subscribe" graphic at 2:25?)
You are a star,l think l learned a lot from this video. So that's how they shred!!!.Aperggios Arpeggios all the way and a little twist here and there!.Thanks for the insight but l prefer fingerpicking and this video introduced me to endless fingerpicking technique
Thank You 🙋🏻♂️ Its inside the Galactic Modern Guitar series 🎸🛸 at my website (link to access is in the video description) and pinned comment- its more then just the tabs. Extended exercises and 15 modules 96+ videos. Thanks for being here 🙂🙏🏻
Your string skipping part reminded me of my 'any 2 notes per string on 2 strings played in ascending order, then descending order, moving down a half-step each time (and reverse)' thing. I literally 'stumbled' over that, one day but couldn't figure out why? Later I realised it was because at each reverse, the same finger finishes the 4 note group and starts the next 4 note group, which is a fairly unusual repeat move. I practiced it, so got over some of it, but still hit a speed bump vs other fingering sequences. Do you have any tips for speeding it up?
That's great! If you want to speed things up, try working subdivisions over click (metronome), going from 1/4 to 1/8, triplets, sixteenth notes, etc. I've got a video or two demonstrating this. So that's what I do
@@WeissGuitar Thanks! I think I was wrong about the 'same finger' thing. It is an extra complication, but I think now it's more a combination of factors which make it a 'foreign' feeling routine vs some other types. Each time I stripped it back to something simpler, it was still feeling 'foreign' vs scalar/arpeggio playing. I'm starting with 2+2 notes over 2 strings in various ascending then descending lines of the same notes. Next moving those lines a halftone up and down, where the 'same finger start/finish' happens, then multiple half steps up and down. Trying to do all 3 items at once from the start, is difficult to track down where it's going off.
Good question, first of all thanks for taking the time to ask - -I am happy you are here 🙏 Back in highschool, it took me a few months to learn, and it will take me a lifetime to master. It's never-ending, and for me, that's the most wonderful part.
Those are definitely the elements needed to learn these concepts in all keys all over the fretboard. It represents years of practice or at least hundreds or thousands of hours of practice and for many people it's an overwhelming effort. Most people only have fixed amount of time to practice and, at best this type of harmonic work would be a fraction of that total time. What I haven't seen is a program that breaks down the exercises into a set of steps so you could proceed methodically through the exercises and over time, (limited by practice time and skills) move through the program. Once you can navigate enough of the arpeggios a useful exercise to apply these things is to take some songs from the American Songbook (standards that have good harmonic progressions and relatively simple melodies) and slowly work on doing arpeggios and mixing it up with playing notes in the melodies. Many of these songs use the triad chord tones for much of the melody. Start with easiest songs first.
Hi Mark, Thanks for being here and for your comment, you have just described my Galactic Modern Guitar Program :) 'a program that breaks down the exercises into a set of steps so you could proceed methodically'
@@WeissGuitar i totally agree. With all due respect to all the effort and dedication put in the making of these extraordinary videos, i also think some concepts could use a bit more digging. For instance: why are the diatonic degrees on C major filled with minor and diminished chords? Why aren't they simply C D E F G A B? Thank you so much! Your most annoying follower ahahah

Thanks for the lessons Daniel! You're great looking and a pedagogical ace ! I'm much obliged for the info you so effortlessly convey.

I'm jealous, I wish I had long fingers.
Man I have played those string skipping arps for so long, but never thought about the enclosures! Outstanding material.
Jeff! :-) Thanks! just published a new one, check it out
Loved this lesson. Pulls together all the pieces of Arpeggio lessons I've watched and could not make sense of. Now I get it. Bravo.
So happy to help, Ken, Thanks for being here, stay in touch 🙋🏻♂️🎸
Paul Gilbert used to shred those string skip arpeggios all the time. 🤘
Oh yeah! does it so well
Still does

Thank you! This is the most comprehensive triad lesson I've seen on YT. I will now set about studying it; see you in 10 years...

could you learn the caged system and the arpeggios and get to the same "conclusion"? some what..
Probably. CAGED is just a memory device to help you learn the chord forms.

- what is/are,most problematic hands/fingers movements on guitar
during chords changes of course?
Your top 10 :)
100% Anything by BACH
It moved from triad to arpeggio to melodic and harmonic scales very quickly. I was interested in listening to just soloing using triads
Check out the new one I just published
is there anything else I could do while you're at it- like climb a mountain - .... ...!
