    It's awesome to have such a large planter ! The bonus is that you can move it easily from place to place because...it's a wheelbarrow! 🙂

    Jenny I love your channel - you and Jerry are so much fun to watch and are such hard workers. Love your videos on all of your gardening projects. Showing how you plant up your home gardens and at the nursery teaches us how we can use one or many of these plants to create special containers or even special garden spaces in our own home gardens. Like you said - you can get an impact with just one plant or many. I just think it's fun to watch people who own a nursery and who grow the plants - there is so much content and we thank you for sharing it all with us♥

    I bought a wheel barrel at a thrift store very similar to yours, my husband drilled holes in it and I painted it white and this is my 2nd time of filling it with beautiful flowers for displaying in my yard

    One tip that your fans would appreciate!
    Please comment as often as u can on heat tolerance whenever you talk about a plant. Us southern gardeners always have to take that into account. Sometimes I want to try a plant but hesitate because I worry about it's heat tolerance.
    Thanks! Absolutely love ur channel!

    My daughter brought home a wheelbarrow a few years ago, wanting to do this. We never did anything. In Michigan we have to wait till after Mothers Day to plant. So after seeing this video going to get it ready for planting. Want to rust it up a little more. I have so many flower beds I have to find a spot 😊This will make her happy. Thank you 🌺

      Same here in Minneapolis. I just picked up plants at Lowe's and a garden center. Cool-tolerant plants, but since I had to turn my furnace back on (last week, record-breaking highs) I'll be moving the containers indoors at night until temps are regulated. It's been far too long a winter.

    I’m still using my rusty wheel barrow. The front tire is hanging on by a single bolt and tire falls off sometimes. And my rake & hoe both broke last year, so now I’m building gardens my knees.
    But I plan to use my wheel barrow in the garden for the same thing someday.

    Thanks for the fine instruction on layering of soil amendments in a pot. Will add a top layer of excellent compost in mine.

  • @Edu_Kate
    @Edu_Kate Рік тому

    Jenny, I just followed your suggestion of 1/3 compost in the bottom and the rest potting soil. (I tried it last year, too, but in a much larger container - no drainage hole, that was intentional.)
    It's so heavy! (Before watering.) I planted 8 violas that came in 3" pots. I'll drag it to my front door, but until our temperatures regulate I think it best to bring it in at night.
    Where I usually buy Land & Sea compost they had a different product, Purple Cow. I think it's made in Wisconsin. I really liked how crumbly it was, no clumps. It contains earthworm 🪱 castings. Should be good.
    Ooh! I have to report on my garlic 🧄 First attempt growing it. The other day I saw shoots about 4" tall growing through the straw. After I divide my nearby rhubarb (the main reason I got the compost), I'll spread some on my garlic bed. This is thrilling!
    I've got another large container to arrange. I went a little wild at the garden center so have a box filled with stock, lobelia, bi-color green on green vinca vine, nemesia, celosia, creeping Jenny, begonia, wire vine, an unusual fern.
    This gal has been couped up too long.
