Came back to watch this video and I wanna add something on 13:37 - The Project X Zone intro is the very first thing that Studio Trigger worked on, fun fact! That's because during the time of PXZ's development, Studio Trigger was newly formed during that time. It's thanks to Project X Zone that we got Kill La Kill and even the Dungeon Meshi anime!
When I first played 1, I fell HARD in love with the new OCs, even though I understand their criticism. They are my children now, and no one will stop me…
@@Stitches2117 Yeah I also thought that was weird since I thought they were going to be a bigger impact on the story later? Idk also for me I kinda liked them as characters so it kinda sucked they didn’t return
Same, and I wish Kogoro and Mii got more screentime ;w; It makes me sad that they only appeared in the first PXZ game, which resulted in their character development being rushed :( They teased us in PXZ2 with the squad suddenly coming across the Koryuuji mansion at one point in the story, but that was pretty much it. They never appeared in PXZ2 at all :( Hopefully Kogoro and Mii make a return in PXZ3...if that ever happens ;w;
Spoiler for the Project X Zone 2 retrospective but Morizumi left Monolithsoft in 2017 along with Koji Ishitani. Without them and with out a low powered platforl like the 3DS I cannot see another game being made.
The only chapter I remember hating back then was the one where you have to chase the goblins in the ghouls and goblins part. I remember when I was a kid that level was the hardest one until I realized I had skills that can give me extra movement 😭
I tried to load my save to see where I was at... 52hours in, my units are around evel 46-47 and I can't beat the next stage. I don't know what I did wrong, but I'll either have to try really hard, or start a new game.
This game series is pretty awesome if you just look at the fact that this game introduces people to some niche characters that most people overlook. Hell project x zone 2 was the one to introduce me to the YAKUZA series since I thought kiryu and majima were cool and I remember getting Yakuza Kiwami on PlayStation plus. I do have to agree though that the game is SOOOO LONG to play and sometimes I have to put down my 3ds and do something else cause your either going to get sinked in on how long you play or you start to get drowsy with the dialog or repetitive gameplay. Excited to see your project x zone 2 video. Man what a journey you’ve had to go on for this series
Ever since I've watched the Namco X Capcom and Endless Frontier duology retrospectives, as well as the Xenosaga I + II and Xenosaga II + III retrospectives, I've waited for this video to come. And now it's here! Very great retrospective, I really enjoyed it. The Namco Cross series is such an underrated masterpiece and I love them so much.
A good reboot of the last game on PS2, but still not really that great to be honest, but the cast was a plus for the game. Although PxZ2 is considered the best one and is my favorite game of the trilogy, and i look forward for your retrospective on it!
@@Monhamd1000 Let you in on a little secret, I've already covered PXZ2 back on my old chanel in 2016. ua-cam.com/video/7HxmcTdr1oI/v-deo.htmlsi=3QSwFW4AnOZGgPZP
I probably made it about halfway through the first PxZ. It's cool and pretty, but it's so tedious that most chapters are just Slowly Beat Up About 40 Mooks Simulator.
When I first saw Due back when I watched a playthrough of Project X Zone this year, I was like "OMG hello" Seriously, she's so pretty, and I love her so much ;w;
I agree that the game feels a bit too long, and that the turn order gauge was not implemented the best way. There were many times I just had my fast units tank attacks while my slower units caught up to enemies. And while the combat is satisfying, it's not well suited to depth. Usually, you go for all crits using your strongest attack, or all attacks for more XP. The system mechanics of the game is also a bit shallow. Too many of them are slight buffs that you would only use in a pinch. The few that aren't, like extra movement, there's no reason not to use. Most of the time, your XP would be better suited for defense, counter attacks, or the supers. Still, I had a lot of fun in it. It's fun in short bursts, and as a side game. So the handheld nature of the 3DS is perfect for it.
Like your profile pic, just picked up Devil May Cry for the PS2 the other day with the intention of trying it out for the first time. Project X Zone keeps making me want to play the games it refrances.
15:49 it's funny I got into all of these series before finding out either of them were in ProjectxZone. Tales I've known about as a kid, a good bit before XZone came out. Sakura Wars i didn't find out about until Shin released a few years ago and while i definitely knew of Xzone by then, i didn't know Sakura Wars had characters in it till i was already a cemented fan (seeing Gemini standing next to Yuri was a trip for obvious reasons). And God Eater i also only recently got into like a year ago (still on 1st game) and didn't realize it had characters here until this very video lol. Same for Valkyria Chronicles, especially cool to see they went with 3's main trio, which does make sense since it was the latest at the time, but I'm used to VC1 cast being the darlings lol.
After seeing this video I still disagree with your criticism for it having "too much dialogue", as I keep saying, this franchise was just not made for you. "Too much dialogue" is an staple of the Super Robot Wars franchise and this game was made by the creators of said game, so it should be expected that you will read a lot.
The game series that made most of my 3DS memories.
For me that was mostly Fire Emblem.

I doubt it would be revealed in a Summer Game Fest, that's a western event. More likely, it'd be revealed in a Ninttendo Direct or something.

I remember the original title was Capcom vs Namco (the first game that was never released outside of Japan).
Hm? It's Namco X Tekken, not Vs. That's reserved for fighting games.
