Saltbox style refers to the roof line at back of houses...they were usually a colonial but added on at the back making a sloped roof.

😮I had never heard of this house til now, and I've lived here most of my life. Makes me wonder what other hidden historical gems are lurking around the back roads of old Princess Anne County! Thanks for bringing this one to light!

Hi Chris. As soon as I saw that tree, I knew it was a Live Oak. Looking out my front door at some right now, but we do have Spanish Moss on ours here in New Orleans. By the way, the old sewing machine is probably a lot older than the 1940s. It looks very similar to the one I have that belonged to my grandmother. It was manufactured in the 1920s. Keep up the good work...always enjoy going along with you to these great historic locations!

This house reminds me of the Baldwin sister house in the Walton's. Just a smaller version.

This is very similar to the Hanover House in Clemson, SC especially the side with chimney ; the interior is similar too. I tried to attach photos but I cant ; Sure you can find some on the internet. That house is 1716; an old stone church 1802 is not far from it as well. You would really enjoy Charleston, SC .

    LOL!!!
This attraction is literally open only nine hours per week.
I like the style of the house and property though.
By the way, Quercus virginiana is the botanical name for the southern live oak, and they are found in a thin strip along the coast from Louisiana all the way up to Virginia.

There used to be a lot of frame houses in this area built like this for tax purposes. When the roof came down, the floor was not taxed. I supposed they are torn down now, I don’t know.

Can you produce a video on the amazing but tragic Ajacan story? I wrote an article about it for a local online newspaper. My late father and I used to golf where the current dig is located.
