I love what they did, they tried to replicate the RoboCop Movie soundtrack, and successfully did
It's from a 1989 Japanese Import CD called "Game Sound Deco - G.S.M. Data East 1". Found it online years ago. :-)

I didn't play the arcade game until I was 16, but I played the Amiga game as a child. It kicked ass. Robocop is amazing.
The arcade robocop had 2 secrets to get infiniti points you need the cobra gun first you have to punch the box then shoot the cobra once and don't move and your points keep moving up by 100s I learned this trick years ago when the arcade was released.
I was around 4 yrs old when this game came out. Man how time flys.... 0:35 probably my favorite of this soundtrack.

Apologies for the very late reply lol... I agree dude. The prologue music is a masterpiece. As basic as the technology was, they managed to create something filled with feeling and tension, which made you both feel for Murphy, and want to get into the game and start cleaning up the streets :-D
Was really sad that this portion of the music goes by in a few seconds in the actual game. It sounds so good.

The arcade board is using a similar soundchip which is the
Yamaha 2151 (also used on Capcom CPS1 games).
The Sega Genesis chip is Yamaha 2612. Both based on FM

it was released in 88 or late 87, but it came to my town in the 90s XD
to be fair mate, I'm in my mid 30s so played it mainly in the early to mid 90s, so I get what you mean. I miss those days too brother :-(
