    Wow... Reading these comments & none of it seems to be about the actual video, it's all about race. Seeing many racist remarks. Why are we all hating? Women, we need to start treating each other better. I don't care what ethnicity you are it's 2015. Grow up. Appreciate what you have & what others have. I think her hair is gorgeous. I'm white with natural corkscrew curls, I came here to watch & learn a method to look after my curls better. It works for me. I was never expecting the same results as her. It's her method on my hair. I get we have different hair types. I don't buy Kim Ks exact makeup & expect to look just like her once applied. I understand my face structure is different. Same thing. It's a shame the comments are not disabled on this vid. It would be much better for everyone.....

      It's not exaggerating. Have a browse through the comments. The section is thick with these remarks. Maybe you need to open your eyes and think before you reply. Also, hypocrite much? Your point is I got to wound up and should relax a bit all while getting wound up in your reply to me. Take a dose of your own medicine. Bye now, have a great day.

    There are so many white people in the comments complaining that this won't work on their hair. Well obviously. This video was targeted to people with naturally kinky-curly hair. There are plenty of curl tutorials on UA-cam that are really nice and that are actually for people of your ethnicity :/

    I went natural almost 10 years ago. About a year into my journey I came across this video. This is the only video that helped me learn the 3 strand twist all that time ago and it’s been my ONLY go to hairstyle that gives me beautiful defined curls that last me a whole week. I always get compliments on my hair every time I do them. Thank you Alyssa!!!

  • @venus.5989
    @venus.5989 8 років тому +313

    Since people keep asking the question. This will NOT work on straight hair, only kinky & curly hair. *Not wavy, Curly.* It's possible but the results are not the same. and if you're hair isn't naturally curly, or kinky' you're going to have a hot mess on your head and your curls are going to fall. Its the truth unless you put a lot of trashy products like hairspray and gel in it, then it should hold up. I think.

    • @sophieb-m1472
      @sophieb-m1472 8 років тому +1

      Thanks for this answer. Do you know options that would work on strait or slightly wavy hair that don't necessitate buying tools?

    • @venus.5989
      @venus.5989 8 років тому +1

      Sophie B-M I think the straw method might work but it qualifies heat which may not be good for the hair.

    • @sophieb-m1472
      @sophieb-m1472 8 років тому

      +Mxuy I actually tried a very loose version of this with only 4 twists and coconut oil. It was nice! Not prfectly define like these since it would not hold by itself. And also I had twist each of the 3 strands the oposite way of the "braid" itself since my hair are not curly.
      But thank you for your input! I will try that!

    For ladies with fine, straight hair, this can be accomplished with good results, with some minor changes.
    1) Don't use oil, use a curling gel instead.
    2) You may need to do more twists.
    3) When you start, it works best if your hair is LIGHTLY dampened, just a little spritz from a water bottle.
    4) I tie off the ends with a small elastic, and then bun the twists up to keep them from untwisting.

    • @peepslostsheep
      @peepslostsheep 9 років тому +1

      Cantika Putri Try using the very small silicone bands, instead of the rubber ones. They don't snag hair like rubber. Like in the link below, but around here I usually find them at the dollar store, 200 for a dollar.

    • @trivanaburris2854
      @trivanaburris2854 9 років тому

      Cantika Putri hey dont use a curling gel. use just a styling gel. depending on how much definition you want for the curl will depend on how many twists you need. your hair does need to be wet but not saturated and instead of bands. use clips like alyssa did in her best braid video.

      its doesnt matter what type of hair you have you want curls itll give you curls you want to define your curls it will define your curls. mmmmm. people are so ignorant! its a curling style without heat. like wetting your hair and french braiding it will give you natural waves!

    Everyone, stop asking "will this work on my hair" or "will it work on (race) people hair"! Everyone's hair is different! This probably doesn't even work on some black people. Just try it and if it doesn't work, it doesn't work. She isn't going to know if it works on YOUR hair because it's not hers. Some people's hair will hold the curls and some won't.

      *breaks the comb by just trying to comb my hair*

    the perfect twist out, whether it's a 2-strand or 3-strand twist out, takes time and effort to achieve AMAZING results. So glad to see a well-done twist out. I get my inspiration from videos like this and can finally say I've mastered the perfect twist out for my own 4-c, low porosity, thick hair. I make my own DIY products as well to achieve the perfect balance between nourishment and optimum hold for my hair. I've documented my own version of the perfect twist-out on my UA-cam channel and am glad to see others achieve beautiful results as well!

      Love Jo It does matter because there's only certain type of hair that is more visible in the natural hair community and that's the truth, And how is supporting youtubers with tighter kinks (and i'm referring from 4a-4c with 4c being largely ignored) segregating anything? They ALL need our support.

    • @Empriz7
      @Empriz7 9 років тому

      Just something to think about...could it be that 4 compared to the rest of the World is a small population...even compared to 3, s meaning less viewers. ..could it be that most 4c don't even like or know how to do their own hair? Could it be because many wear their hair low or in a fro that they don't need or want all this styling videos? Could it be that most 4c wear weaves 70% of the year so they're only viewing tutorials 30% of the year? Could it be that out of women that choose to wear relaxers a large population of them are 4c and they fear society views, not being able to manage their hair, or they went natural before and went back to a relaxer or a texturizer? I have 4c and this is what I see from those with similar hair in my world. Food for thought. ..maybe it's not a lack of support, maybe the audience functions differently when it comes to styling hair. I am One of the few 4c that styles their hair on a regular basis and I'm a marketing person which knows you have to really assess the behavior of an audience to understand it.

    OK now, I am a white women with natural curly hair. Born with it, HATE it!! If I wash it too much, it breaks. If I don't wash it enough, it turns to straw. So... this is what I do: I wash my hair on average once a week or once every two weeks if I can get away with it. My hair is extremely course and YES!! I use products like Olive Oil Creme and DevaCurl Ultra Defining Gel and many others that are made for "black people hair". Just by looking at my hair you would swear that I was a black woman.
    Thank you Alyssa for your videos. The 3 Strand Twist Out turned out beautifully with my hair.... :)

      i know this was three months ago but try the shea moisture line the curling cream (coconut and hibiscus) keeps my hair moisturized even tho its 4c. try using enough to go through your hair but not coat it, alot goes along way! Also ive heard using that, a holding gel/mousse, then using oil like cocnut oil to seal it helps! if you just want to wear it natural try shea moisture creams/ leave in conditioners and seal with oil (cocnut, olive, black castor, etc.)

    I see alot of the same comments/questions. The style is best done on wavy, curly, or coily hair. If you have straight hair, you could still try it but you will not get the same look. Best gels to use for twist outs (if you have textured hair) is an alcohol free product. Personally I get the best look using a mixture of shea butter and coconut oil.

    I'm tired of people asking if this will work on straight hair, so let me say this; yes it can work on straight hair but PLEASE don't expect to have the same results. You will have waves, not tight curls, unless you pack on a ton of product.

    I really felt hopeless trying to deal with my natural hair. I always got so frustrated and gave up midway because everything seemed so complicated and I have so much damn hair to deal with. I freaking love this! Tried it a while back and it worked great! I just got a process done recently that tightened my curls but haven't tried this process yet since. I am thinking it will probably turn out like your texture now. Otherwise my curls are wavy beach curls due to the length. My stylist showed me this a year ago and I always love sharing it and referencing it! Thanks!

    Great tutorial! Thank you! I must say that I am pretty surprised by the RACIST comments written here. Why are you so eager to segregate? I believe this video is made for EVERYBODY with curly or straight hair, to learn how to style it using this technique. It is very ignorant to assume that white, asian or hispanic people don't have the type of hair almost as curly as the model in the video has, and it is also racist and hateful to exclude anyone from watching a hair tutorial just because of the colour of their skin -"white"- or the texture of their hair -"straight". People can watch what they want to.

    This is the first time I've EVER seen racist comments on a NATURAL HAIR video. The worst part is its mostly black people talking bad about white people. Like really bro? We have our natural hair movement and its going strong. Why can't you just let the straight haired people respect and admire that and call it a day without going on to make it about race? On another note, White ppl also have coarse curly hair too. Ive seen it naturally, the woman's not even mixed either.
