The physics/momentum in this game feels natural. Not simulated like in Sonic Frontiers. Seems they made what they wanted to do with Sonic Frontiers. Edit: The problem is that the guy playing doesn't really take advantage of the opportunities to show it off.

It's more than just SA2 fans that are winning. I'd argue that fans of 2000's Sonic in general are winning. We're getting callbacks to everything. SA1, SA2, Shadow '05, even Sonic '06 fans are getting Kingdom Valley! Even Shadow's unused prototype design is a skin now! Sega finally realized that they have decades other than the 90's to pull from!
Its not the cyber homing attack from Frontiers, its the warp effect Shadow had from the CG cutscenes in Shadow '05, which is honestly a really solid callback to something we never really saw again.
The part in 2:43 reminds me a lot of the phantom rush in frontiers. Its cool to see how Sega made it fair for both sonic and shadow considering their similar stats, giving sonic new movesets in frontiers as well for shadow in the generations campaign.

The shadow bit does not contain any of the generations physics bro. It's built off of hedgehog engine 2 which was what forces and frontiers were made in. (Generations was made in hedgehog engine 1). Just by looking at the way shadow is moving and his animations that are from forces, it's clear this is not gonna play at all like gens

Chao’s control in this game is going to be super cool to us. Can’t wait to play Sonic X Shadow Generations! The transition is very interesting.

Unfortunately the “forces/frontiers level design” doesn’t come from a lack of experience in the designers.. it comes from User Research showing that their target audience found Unleashed/Generations level design to be too hard to complete. :/ The lane-y layouts and slowed down movement/homing attacks/momentum is a deliberate and very conscious design choice

Hey, they're using the Sonic Forces homing attack lock on sound. Episode Shadow really was them testing the waters. In fact, alot of Shadow's gameplay is very Forces like. The sound effects, the animations, the look and feel of the stages themselves, even the Chaos Control capsules are very reminiscent of the White Wisp capsules. This is Shadow Forces!
The Sonic part of the game looks like they hardly did anything to it while the Shadow portion looks like a level from Sonic Forces especially the physics.
My personal theory is that Sega wanted to do a double whammy with this game. They wanted to see if they could do an upgraded version of beloved past game that wouldn’t upset the fans so that they know what to do for other games (ex the rumored Heroes remaster) while also incorporating a beloved character with expanded lore all wrapped up in a relatively safe way. Generations doesn’t need much tweaking and giving Shadow a side story instead of a full game leaves less room for error while providing great feedback in the process. It’s clear most of the updates and budget went to Shadow’s side (which I love) and I hope it will deliver. Overall, this game could have great ripples for later titles if Shadow’s story is as good as we’re hoping.

I saw some other people play, boosting, exploring new path. I can already say it controls better than Cyberspace, which was my main concern. I relieved honestly. Now all I hope is that this game is a massive success. So Sonic IP can open many new doors for lots of characters.
I think the gameplay will be very good. When I went and watch the og video, I saw a couple of branching paths. And since this is SA2 levels, this could be the first level or a very early one. If this is the first level and there are already a decent amount of branching paths, I cant wait to see what the rest of the game looks like. also MOMENTUM
