- It's surprising how 50/50 this game mode is with the community. I personally don't hate the game mode, but I also don't think it's very fun to play. Although I'm curious what you all have to say about that.

the respawn thing is peak bungie, the issue they saw was that enemies would farm people as they spawn in so their solution was to make it impossible to defend because you start spawning at the ass end of the map while your rift is under siege.
A well coordinated match with clan and even more with randoms makes this game mode super satisfyingly to play.
The excitement when your team or enemy team is at the rift using everything they got to fit that 1 min time bomb is amazing.
Playing for the objective be being the runner, guarding or just pushing forward ahead of the runner makes this game mode rocks.
I just dont like some maps too much because some small spaces makes a huge cluster fuck where everyone just go "random bullshit go!" In a corridor, my frames die man...

At first for me yes it sucked. Then a clanmate started commenting plays as if he were Madden reincarnated. Made the gamemode fun and changed my approach to the mode. Emote celebrating after a tuddy is fun. Run blocking for your teammate is fun. Pushing for the two extra yards is fun. Ressing linemen (blueberries) to help create a lane for your runner is fun. Coming back and saying oooo he studies tape is fun.
Rift is fun which means bungie can make fun things but in a sea of matchmaking issues a refreshing drip of freshwater just turns salty.
It was definitley not fun to grind the seal. The mode itself is way better than some of the other modes (Scorch I'm looking at you). I think my biggest gripe with Iron Banner has always been 6v6 on maps not made for 6v6. Rift is exponentially less annoying on Disjunction while on the flip side Eliminiation (3v3) is unbearable on it.

After they finally added the mercy rule and reduced match times its not *as* bad. But its still bad. Just literally have it be a playlist for both Rift and Hunt whenever IB is around and problem solved.

It is a mode were you have an objective instead of going for kills only.
I had fun matches and I enjoyed the grind for the Iron Lord title.
Good thing is nobody is forced to play rift since control is always available.
In all the history of iron Banner, I have never experienced this mysterious thing called "fun" a single time... until Rift. 🙂

Apparently its a trend to take the spark and just hide instead of banking it. People were pissing me off so much yesturday our ENTIRE team was next to the enemy rift and the guy with the spark was emoting in a corner.
Eventually they die to the spark though
Hot take: I have had more fun and more wins, in iron banner rift, then I ever had with control, like, honestly, the main reason why I like rift more, is because it forces you to play the game, and not just go for kills, unlike in control you got kids who are ignoring the objective, just to get a lot of kills, and honestly that's what ruined control in iron banner for me, now yes, it sucks when rng puts me up against god tier sweats, but honestly, when that happens, I still have more fun in that then I do in control cause at that point I know when I died and fucked up, I know it was my fault, but when I lose in control, I know at that point it was obviously that one person who was just aiming for kills, and not objective captures

after getting the title I was able to enjoy it. before that was mostly trying to get points. my best matches were with ppl that had already the title so they focus on playing as a team.
It's way better than any other iron banner we ever got
The pure force that makes me anti is that you either play normal get a 6 stack that beats you in 2 minutes, or play Freelance and spend 10 minutes in queue just to get a game that lasts 15 minutes with only 1 rift.
It’s great. Even when it’s not iron banner rift. Even normal fist is awesome, because (9 years in) people still have no clue how to deal with blink players carrying the spark!
Atleast in d1 rift players got credit for support kills in d2 rift everyone gets a participation trophy.
I love freelance honestly. Playing with a stack is when things get a little more dicey

It's fun for me, bcs it's not control anymore with a few tweaks. Plus freelance makes it better if i just want to play solo.
The gamemode is fun, i've enjoyed it, but it has several design problems as pointed out in the video.

Yes it is; the people who just say “rift sucks” are the same people who ignore zone cap in control. Objective-based modes help the destiny sandbox shine, and the tweaks done since Week 1 really added the polish the game mode needed.
It's such a shame that rift isn't as well received, it could have been really good like in d1.

Thankfully i got a bunch of good rolls so i dont need to play ib again for a year.

For me it comes down to this as long as i dont get any credit in the end scoreboard im going to pass rift lacks a motivation factor atleast for me its like as if bungie wants to protect bad players from bad stats. There is no incentive when they hopefully make it control again i will play again. The loot sucks too.

Also not saying its perfect, ooohhhh my god some things need work but when they DID work, it was a lot of fun.
The first iteration of rift was awful. Constant 0-5 stomp fests, extremely one-sided matches most of the time, barely worked half the time, it was an absolutely dreadful experience. Now with rift part 2, it feels more fleshed out and complete, no more bugs (at least, from what I saw), and there's a mercy rule in place (thank god). I still don't think it's the most fun, but I'm biased because I don't like crucible lmao. At the very least though, it's tolerable.
I hate rift too, but people are complaining about getting a bunch of kills and then look at the leaderboard and see themselves at the bottom, I hate it too but that means you’re not doing the fucking objective
