I met Su Pollard , many years ago , When I worked as Chef ln Nottingham, and su was in pantomime at The Theatre Royal, she would come in for lunch in full costume!! Truly zany a great comedienne, singer and person, A national treasure x lots of love sue lvanxx
From the BBC TV series The Marriage, a 6 part series shown in, I think, 1986. The fly on the wall documentary followed a couple in the lead up to their wedding and until their 1st anniversary. They are still together 36 years or so later. Tje programme was produced by Desmond Wilcox who was the producer on several documentary type programmes and series especially in the 70s, 80s and 90s including The Visit and The Big Time.
The plant. No,not really. The dentist perhaps? My friend's girlfriend, having become a fan from seeing her on TV,took him to see her do her own show at the Palace Theatre in Watford one evening in about 1990-91,and they took me along. One of the props was a pair of human-size letters spelling SU with lines of dressing room mirror-style lightbulbs in them, that flashed in patterns along with the music.
Wow, who would have thought Peggy the cleaner from Maplin's holiday camp (hi de hi) would sound like that! I was around in 1986 but don't remember it at all, came across it by chance, what a great catchy song. I can't believe she wasn't more famous for her singing........ brilliant!!
So it does. Such kind words Matthew, I do take my inspiration not just from Sue Pollard, but from Matt & Andrea, a couple truely in love from Stratton Audley who had this as their first dance song on their weddign day, and play it at 5.12pm every year on the 15th July to mark the day they first exchanged that first loving glance.
Sue is a wonderful talented lady. She once worked in Chesterfield Uk., and left the companies money around £2,000 in a public toilets it has been said. Then she remembered, wet back and found it was still there. phew!. Great song.
@Jay and Ross sheppard omg i actually came on here ti see that part, absolutely loved it especially the bit where they look at each other confused pmsl
su can often be found guzzling back the gin outside a pub SHOUTING N SCREAMING and then when recognized does the whole "oh im just here with my friends" bit whilst dressed in multi coloured leg warmers
HER PERFORMANCE, IS, SO GOOD, TRUST ME, GET THIS MOMENTUM, WHEELS IN MOTION, ALL YOU, SU POLLARD FANS, DAY BY DAY, FROM, BBC OR ITV, UK, YOU WILL REJOICE IN THIS, I DON' T SUBSCRIBE, TO ANY PARTICULAR RELIGIOUS FAITH, BUT SU' S PERFORMANCE, IS, TOTALLY UPLIFTING, IT IS, LIFE CHANGING. GET' S TO THE HEART, OF WHAT MATTERS IN LIFE.
Has anyone had this for their first dance song at their wedding? Wasn't it written by Bill Buckley, That's Life presenter and Channel 5 announcer? At least it's catchy!
I remember the show this was from, it was a fly on the wall documentary following a newly wed couple round for a year. I looked it up and they're still together. Even though she's dressed like Noddy, I think Su Pollard looks super hot in this! My younger self would be disgusted with me for that!
1welshdevil But your called the Welsh Devil saw your from the UK- So how comes you have never heard this then- It was on Absolute radio a few months ago
@@donnn-sg4mk Ah, that’s nice to hear. Just revisited the video and saw your reply. I wasn’t being cynical, they seem a nice fun couple from the footage here, just that so many marriages run into trouble. Wonder if Su keeps in touch with them.
Starting together…..what? with mr Twelvetrees? You chased him enough throughout You rang, m’lord. Unfortunately for you he only had eyes for miss Poppy.
with someone playing wacky roles, it's hard to imagine she had a good singing voice. Why didn't she continue it? It's the Susan Boyle syndrome- you never know what they sound like when you just take one look at them
Su could sing, but the outrageous characters she played, plus her…errr…unique fashions meant she was never taken that seriously by the record buying public Still…whilst I wouldn’t have bought the record as it’s definitely not my style, it’s Su “Peggy” Pollard!

The wedding photos certainly look very 80s! Desmond Wilcox was Esther Rantzen's husband.

@@derekhorne8076 Or Dennis Taylor. I don't think Elton ever had a pair like that.
If they were any larger, Su would need scaffolding to keep them on her face
I didn't know you could sing so well, keep on singing
Thank you for Uploading this 😁👍🏻
She looks like Linda La Hughes from gimme gimme gimme lol 😂
@Jay and Ross sheppard omg i actually came on here ti see that part, absolutely loved it especially the bit where they look at each other confused pmsl
Linda La Hughes stole Heidi Honeycomb's look lol
Linda was too funny. When I saw sue come on that one episode I laughed me head off
Awwww that's funny but harsh.... Both of them rock!! Kx
Hahaha this made me laugh
Su Pollard is a music and comedy talent, a natural performer.
Still Loving it in 2023☺️
I requested this at my cousin Wayne's marriage to Julie October 1994. I think I'm forgiven now, ha.
Does anybody have a link to the programme this was from? It was called The Marriage. Would be good to see it again for the nostalgia

Richard Eckley the groom lookalike corries Kevin webster with that awful 'tache and very 80s fringe and mullet!
The couple looked cringe.. glad I never watched that programme

Why what was the first?
Reality Shows had been around for a while. Sheena Easton was featured on The Big Time which I think was also produced by Desmond Wilcox who was the producer of The Marriage.
Can't work out if this is a joke or not. Great song though!!
Absolutely not. I bought this single and so did lots of people in early 1986 - the single reached #2 in the charts
Year?
1986
Thank you
1903 when Madge Cartwright and Teddy Meldrum first got it together.
