She at the beginning thought that the Indian religion was all about magical secrets and powers, but she eventually realized that hierarchy and patriarchy are the integral part of the Indian society and religion. In the opinion of Durga Nat there is no one who can actually tell or teach about religion, one has to realize and understand on his own. There are some sadhus who are originally criminals but have worn the saffron clothes and changed their identity just to escape from the cops. As well as there are some kind-hearted sadhus who would provide additional knowledge about Hinduism. In the opinion of Durga Nat, the Indian sadhus smoke pots because they consider Shiva their god to be doing the same. As well as when they get high on the weeds they are in a state of meditation, which helps them to live in the moment. Whereas, when the Western people smoke weeds they become highly paranoid. She even considers that there is a huge difference between the homeless people living in the streets of India and those living in the streets of Europe. In India the homeless people think about god all the time and pay homage in their name. The rich people are sympathetic towards the homeless people living in India. According to Durga Nat the Indian sadhus are always searching for inner peace recalling the name of Indian gods.
