@@jk9084 if the hot air opened up people’s cuticles, then it would not leave their hair looking silkier and shinier, right? It would look craptastic like my hair on a hot summer day…. But it doesn’t. Something to help it make sense is that the plastic is wrapped tight around the hair. So, it’s in a somewhat air tight, very slightly moist (freshly conditioned) environment and forced to lay down. So, the hair is encouraged to lay down and settle down… kind of like if you sleep in a satin wrap overnight. And, coincidentally, when my stylist forgot that step, she would encourage me to wrap it overnight back when I had my hair relaxed. That said, that’s a mix of how I think of it and what I have been told. A professional stylist may be able to explain it better.

My adult daughter had her hair professionally washed, conditioned, and she kept it either braided or twisted every two weeks. Her hair was an inch past her shoulder in August. My hair was mid bra in August. Her hair grew 3 to 4 inches in 4 months. We did a length check over the weekend and was shocked to find that her hair is now longer than mine -- we both had trims in between. Keeping one's hair in a good protective style works! I am amazed!

Sis I know, mine grows the slowest(genetics & iron deficiency). Try Belle Bar Henna or Fenugreek strengthening mask, then two strand twist your hair up for 2 weeks(medium size). Do that for 3 months as you will see a little difference, key is leaving the hair alone. My hair grows as slow as a turtle 🤣. Pumpkin oil also helps with blocking DHT that causes thinning and slow growth. My hair doesn't grow as fast as hers but the pumpkin oil has helped a little when I mix with the Henna Mask. And no it does not turn your hair red as the Henna in that particular mask is not potent enough.

This video was so exciting to watch!! I’ve been natural now for 2 years and seven going on eight months. I’m finally going to a professional the end of January to get my hair treated and a much needed cut or trim. I’m a lil nervous because I haven’t step foot in a salon since becoming natural. But I’m also excited. It’s very important for me to do this on the month of January so I can begin the year off with healthier hair. It has grown a lot but I know my ends are looking terrible.

@Halima Shehu I don't care what they say. Some things are just genetics. Everyone will NOT grow waist length hair. I don't care what you use, how often or how you use it. Everyone's hair is different and their potential hair growth and length of hair has variable factors. I feel sorry for women or girls who get depressed over their length when they have seemingly done all the right things. When they see someone with this result over a seemingly short span of time it can make you feel hopeless if waist length hair is your goal .You may never see this type of response. Your hair gene is just what it is. Do the best you can with what you have. If you need a little help from unnatural means to create your fantasy bomb hair length, it's your bizness.

@@debrahudson6324 thats so not true! I used to think that about my daughter, especially since her dads side of her family has very short hair, but when I did THOROUGH research on hair growth, I learnt about hair follicles, hair breakage, hair strength, blood circulation helps hair to grow stronger and faster, which lead me to make a hair serum out of natural products that stimulates strong hair growth (aloe Vera, castor oil, grape seed oil, carrot seed oil, and safflower oil)!!! My daughter’s hair has grown longer and faster than it has EVER grown; her grandmother on her dad’s side was even amazed! I totally understand your perspective because I also thought the same way before I looked deep into the matter! There was a point that it wouldn’t grow past the top of her ears! I wish I could show you how unbelievably long it’s grown in just one year-her chin!

Couldn’t agree with you more sis ! Taking care of your hair will and can result to this ! Ladies stop being afraid of letting dead and split ends go ! Always remember that your hair that actually grows from your scalp is very much alive under protective styles so don’t neglect the livelihood of your hair and scalp..when I first started out natural I did the big chop everything gone ! It made me a smidget insecure..I read that your hair is like a garden when you take care of it by loving on it and being patient it will flourish !

“The More Hair You Have, The Worst It Is” to wash because I most definitely have to was my hair in sections. It’s so much that I literally had to also section days for what I do. Like on Wednesday I do a prepoo, leave that on overnight. On Thursday I start to part my hair into sections and do a little predetangle and twist each section (I’m so tired that I decide to wash my hair the next day). Friday I finally wash my hair (one section at a time), put in conditioner so I can fully detangle, twist it back up and go on to the next section. After I’m done putting leave-ins, oils, creams/butters, I just want to eat do the rest of my chores and go to bed. And after all of that, we’ve finally reached Saturday where I style my hair. I’m mainly trying to do some flat twist style that would hopefully last 2 weeks, but if I’m lucky(but more like lazy) will last the whole month. It’s really too much, especially when you’re also trying to juggle around kids(young ones to be exact)
