Very nice images. Back in the '80's and '90's I reenacted the Black Watch Of Canada (RHR) in WW2, and the Imperial Black Watch in WW1. Brings back memories, this does.
My father was in the PPCLI 1st div overseas in WW2, He served in Italy, Sicily, Denmark, Norway, North Africa, He drove Bren Gun Carriers for a time overseas
As a Patricia of the present I really respect the work you have put into the gear and the look, you could not have chosen a better regiment. 2 VP Paul Alastair
Can you recommend me something available over the internet as to just how 60 Canadians managed to hold the line against 800 Germans at Passchendaele? Just saw Paul Gross's movie and was wondering just how they did in real life.
Right now we're still trying to get up to speed with the WW2 impression. One of our guys is getting a Korean kit together but that would be used for static displays only.
There are some dealers that sell the kit. The uniforms are made by tailor we've hired. You can't get WW1 uniforms in surplus stores anymore. This war almost happened a 100 years ago. Now its getting hard to find WW2 stuff.
Good question. I've bought a few items, mainly kit related like mess tins and webbing parts. From the uniform I saw of my friends I thought it was fine.
Good question. Actually we are still trying to find a tailor. Some of our guys have bought their uniforms from What Price Glory. Do a google on that name and you'll find them.
Woa -- thats a wonderful tribute. I still can't believe you guys do that for fun though, digging trenches is not most soldiers idea of a good time :) None the less it is well appreciated by current ad former members that you guys do these tributes.
I've got Northwest rebellion, WWII and Korean war kit and am about to join the 27th Battalion C.E.F. for WWI reenacting which is hopefully going to work out.
No we don't unfortunately. I'm not very knowledgeable on Cdn kit in the Korean war but from what I've seen it was a transitional time for equipment for Canada. Some units were equipped in WW2 pattern kit and some were adopting US style kit.
@24michiganironbrigad, you don't have to live in Canada or be Canadian to reenact a Canadian soldier of WW1. Do a google on our group, 'CMHS' which is the Canadian Military Historical Society for details.
Numerous places. For WW1 equipment most if not all is repro so sources like What Price Glory is good. For WW2 stuff there's still some original equipment in surplus stores. Repro can be attained at What Price Glory. Do a google on that name and you'll find their website.
Honestly I would love to come out and be a part of the work you men are doing I deploy in feb and return in oct but after that I would love to don the regemental regalia of the past and partake in your activities 2VP Paul Alastair
Ah no. It cost us thousands of dollars in material. I don't think we're going to "blow it up" so it looks more real. It will weather. You have to remember that some trenches were put in new.
in the actual first world war would they have used corrugated metal in the trenches? i would think it would cause additional shrapnel if hit by a shell.
Canadian Army Overseas living history association is one based out of Ontario. There are many others though for WWII, WWI, Fennian raids etc especially for War of 1812
No. We have no connection with the modern PPCLI. We have members from Southern Ontario, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Colorado, New York to name a few locations.
There are various stores for uniforms and equipment for reenacting, soldier of fortune, what price glory, Man the line, At the front are a few. You could also get it custom made.
my uncle george ronald watson died in italy god save the queen

Good question. The answer is yes. They used it. They used what ever they could get their hands on.
I've got Northwest rebellion, WWII and Korean war kit and am about to join the 27th Battalion C.E.F. for WWI reenacting which is hopefully going to work out.

5 stars!!
I don't know. We're a Canadian reenactment group who portray Canadian soldiers. They didn't wear US kit.

Do you guys recruit in Michigan? I am looking to get into ww1
Are you guys the same PPCLI reenacting group that has WW1 branch in newmarket ontario?
No. We don't have any members living there. We are in GTA though.

They used it alot in reality. The idea was that the explosions for the most part would remain outside of the trench.
does anyone know if theres a war reenactment during summmer time in eastern Canada, more specifically in the maritimes, if so please reply
