  • Here are my recommendations on gear to maintain your knives! kit.co/Frankie...
    No amount of money with yield a sharp knife even a month from the day you buy it, like a car's tires, knives wear down and YOU must maintain them in order to continue to have a sharp (and therefor safe) knife. Join me in this simple tutorial and then most importantly, do this! practice this!

    Just like my grandpa!!! Thanks so much! He always sharpened with a whetstone and I still have his! All of his knives would “shave the hair on his arms”. That’s how he knew it was sharp enough! You are awesome!

    I used to sit at the table and watch my dad sharpen his knives. I sharpen mine, too. Great info, Frankie!

    I’m new to your channel. What is the name of the steel rod you are using. What do you recommend?

    I've been using my stone wrong. It's gray. I just run knife across it. I buy knives with NO teeth. From ikea.

    If you know how to sharpen a knife, you can make even a butter knife very sharp, but the quality of the knife it’s self will help you keep the knife sharp for longer. I have the same knife and it’s the best 200 bucks I’ve ever spent.

    Frankie, do you have a correcting stone to flatten out your whetstone? I’ve heard some say you need one to keep your whetstone from developing “waves”. What’s your opinion on this?

    • @FrankieCooks
      @FrankieCooks  6 років тому +1

      I've seen them, it makes sense. My stone is 3 years old, still flat - never 'flattened' it.

      Frankie Cooks thanks for your reply! The information you gave me a while back on Instagram about Bob Kramer’s videos was extremely helpful. Nothing like a good sharp knife to make vegetable chopping a meditative rather than stressful and dangerous
