I love that your inspiration is someone older than me! I'm 61 and have no intention of ever dressing "my age" I have all the garments that you used in this video ... 😊
I am 59 and have carried this vibe with me from the 70s with updated tweaks. It was before fast fashion really took hold and people really made the most of what they had. My mother always loved an easy elegance with a well curated (and well made) clothes. I got away from that for awhile and fell into the more is more trap until my late 40s when I wised up again. I love this series and Jane Birkin is a favorite. Her daughter, Charlotte Gainsbourg is amazing, too.
Yaaaay i love these vidéos we missed them. You are very special no one would have thought about Jane Birkin. Not because she has no taste but because she is no more in the high lights. Her style is timeless maybe she was avant-garde of fashion.you succeeded as usual in recreating her style xox Algeria
Just wanted to thank you for your videos. I love your fashion videos, your advice really helps me find my style. I also love your vlogs, your family and the town you live in are just beautiful ♥️
Since we're sticking to older periods in time, I think it'd be fun to see your take on certain styles from the 90's next (I can't think of any particular person, but maybe you can pick 3 looks just from the era alone). Really enjoyed this video btw
I love these casual looks. I think I've got most of the things apart from the espadrille sandals. I do have some espadrille-style summer shoes which work well with jeans, etc. It's so fantastic not having to buy anything else!
I was staggered to see Jane Birkin’s style of the 60s & 70s. If she could step out of those photos and walk on the streets today she would not look out of place and definitely still be in super style. Which just goes to show, as you often say, that classic style is absolutely timeless and ultra chic. I shall definitely steer clear of fashion trends from now on. Super video Signe.
Omg, she's so inspiring! Thank you for remembering her. I will surely repeat the look 2 with wide trousers and a shirt. And I personally would do the look 3 in total jeans, it's stylish. The only problem is that I don't have espadrilles.
Never knew about her but her look is totally in style. Great video. Thanks for putting this together. Your city streets look like Gifhorn in Germany. Miss that place.
Big thanks Signe for doing this about Jane Birkin- as I will be 80 in a few days she is someone I have known about for years. i also wear a narrow white boy's T-shirt and had forgotten that Birkin wore (and probably still wears) one.
@Sara-Jane Williams Thank you so much. My husband and I are currently in Andros, Greece where my father was from. My children and some of my grandchildren are also vacationing with us.
I need to look for one of those net tote bags at my local thrift stores! Thanks for a great video. I'm a new subscriber, and look forward to watching more of your videos. 😊
You have elevated my relaxing Sunday mornings...Thank You! 🙌🏼☕️ Love, love, love the video! The all black look was my favorite. Like you I have several pieces in my wardrobe with stripes (5 shirts, 1 skirt and 1 dress) and lots of black and white and a few red pieces. I have gotten into the 60s beatnik look lately… pairing these pieces (Black cigarette pants/trousers/pencil skirt or white skinny jeans) with red or black ballet flats or loafers and a red or black silk scarf tied around my neck and a red or black beret. It gives my wardrobe a fresh look that is still classic and timeless but a bit edgy, sexy and fun! I just purchased both a red and black beret and a red and black small neck scarf from Poshmark and It gave my wardrobe a whole new vibe!🤜🏻🤛🏻
Oh! for a future “steal her style” look you might check out François Hardy The French singer from the 60s. She wears many of the wardrobe pieces you own... but just styles them a bit more edgy rather than classic. She was known for her classic/beatnik style.
You definitely need a pair of flare jeans! I think you'd look amazing in them and it would be a staple in your wardrobe plus you would be able to recreate any 70s or 90s look because flare denim made such a come back in the late 90s! I remember cause I was obsessed with my second-hand flare pair of jeans and I loved to pair them with second-hand high heeled camel Doc Martens.
you nailed the basic look, although you both are different bodytypes and it looks of course different on you both. but the basic narrative of the look is totally the same. it helps, that a kind of casual look goes with your type as well.
An integral part of Jane Birkin's style, grace and elegance is her slimness, it may not be very PC to say it, but the same clothes look very different on a non-so-slim frame, I don't mean to offend anyone.
Two 70's icon that may appeal to you given your natural beauty, effortless style propensity is Jacqueline Bissette, Charlotte Rampling, both UK style icons, beautiful women who took life into their own hands and made no apologies....LOL...Big Hugs honey.....as always a lovely video....
instead of the basket bag, you could have tried to copy the 'birkin' bag by hermes. since that had been created, she wore that instead. it would have been interesting to copy that. much easier with 90s or 2000s bags I guess. I would have like to see, what you would have picked to cover that, because - can we really copy a hermes bag? :-D that I would like to see. not possible perhaps
@@UseLess_dk yes, it's too expensive. I wouldn't be able to dupe that too because my bigger bags are backpacks :-D my back doesn't like it to wear havily on one side - unfortunately
Love the idea of certain pieces needed, great classic basics. The total looks are missing the most important Jane Birkin 'style' though, her va va voom as they say. She wore all these looks but made them sexy and feminine. This is why shes seen as a french fashion icon, not British.
video idea: steal HIS style !!! you/we already go for fairly gender-neutral looks, so it'd be great to take inspiration from dapper men! love these btw
I like your steal your style video's. Thanks for them. Besides the suggestions above, you could maybe include Meghan Markle? Or Naomi Watts. Jessica Alba. Oke, Bye!
I wasn’t gonna say anything but since you left the little candid edit of your foot going numb 😅 I’ve just noticed you don’t sit in your wing back chair any more in your videos. This isn’t a good or a bad thing, just an observation! I’m a big fan of the wing back chair, and love that little corner of your interior style 🏡✨ Anyways, back to your regularly scheduled comments regarding the actual subject of the video! 😅👍🏼
Elizabeth Evans Kiikka haha no that’s true! I kinda liked the backdrop in the house better when I sat in the chair, because back then there was more “depth” behind it whereas now there’s just a boring white wall 🙈 so I like sitting here because then you guys can see a little more of our cozy living room 😍
Loved the concept of going back in time for timeless inspiration!
Giulia Bradamante I know right? I feel like I want to do more of those 😍
I love that your inspiration is someone older than me! I'm 61 and have no intention of ever dressing "my age" I have all the garments that you used in this video ... 😊
Wendy Malatios that’s so great!! Timeless style has no age 😍👌🏻

MERIEM BENMOUSSA Thank you lovely! And so true, she had great taste then and she still does! Living proof that timeless style is in fact a thing 😍👌🏻

Gloria Company - Burke I’m so happy to hear that! And welcome to my channel! 😍😍

Spot on as always!!! 🎯🥰
Love IT😍 all the way from USA
Look number 3 seems more brown corduroy. You should watch the movie “la piscine” that movie essentially is Jane Birkin’s style 101
Françoise hardy style please

Good styling from a style icon Signe. I was just googling some current photos of JB.....she is unrecognisable now. 😂💚D
This is my favorite series, classic! do Jennifer Aniston
I love her style, it just doesn’t have the same feel though with high-waters.
Really my style, effortless ! Plus I was born 14th december (the same day as Jane) :) :) (sorry for my english I'm french) 💗
Audrey Chmr your English is fine! 😍👌🏻
I am currently obsessed with Carolyn. Besette I think you’d like her style she was JFK jr wife
tree hugger oh cool!! I need to check her out 😍😍 Thank you for the tip!
She’s the epitome of classic 90’s for me n she was rocking that minimal CDG pouch like no one else ever did! Her make up is on point too!
She reminds me a lot to the actress of "You"
All lovely. Treat yourself to a basket x
Gail Spear thanks! Haha if I find one in a thrift store I might! Then I can keep blankets in it when I don’t use it 😍
YES 🙌
Elle Marie ❤️❤️❤️
Loved this - what about stealing her daughter's style too!?
Eleanor Besly I am considering it for sure! 👌🏻
Use Less Excellent, thanks!
you should have a look at Jeanne Damas website. You could pick some ideas to reach that kind of look.
Where did you get your net bag?
Raquel Kutsch I got it as part of a perfume PR box from Skylar 😊 but there are loads on Etsy!

Funny Girl except a Hermes bag is so expensive and I’m not that into the Birkin bag tbh 🙈 so I would probably just go for my good old shopper 🤷♀️😘

The jeans need to be almost covering the shoes. Any shorter, they make you look heavy.
