Poor Chandler... Matthew's acting throughout the 2nd episode is amazing. I also always loved David's physical comedy with Ben walking in a circle. SO GOOD!!! Also the beginning of Gunther's infatuation with Rachel... ❤
A great pair of episodes, kind of a two-part finale of the 'Janice Arc' if you will. The breakup scene is the show at its very best: touching and heartfelt, while still hilarious and ridiculous. Chandler saying "you can't leave, I have your shoe!!" then Janice sadly walking away, limping with only one heel... Chef's kiss. Absolutely flawless writing and performances adds up to a perfect sitcom moment. Great reaction.
Rachel's dad is kind of a jerk, but I really do love that scene where he and Ross bond for a moment about Rachel stuff, lol. "His name is Bobby Bobby?" "No, Daddy, his name is ROBERT Bobby." LOL!!
Janice did not cheat on her husband before divorcing, in my opinion. He cheated on her and she launched a divorce procedure. By that time, even if she's still technically married, I wouldn't call it cheating. They are separated. What she did to Chandler though, is cheating. It's only my take on it. I mean, I don't think it would be fair to expect someone to be faithful to someone else, while they cheated on you, AND you chose to end the relationship and did start the process. The fact that the divorce takes time, doesn't mean the relationship isn't over. Here, she starts it again, so we could argue she did cheat, but... still. I believe the only cheating she did was on Chandler. Because her and her husband relationship started back truly, only when she broke it off with Chandler. Doesn't change that she did cheat. But, with what happened with her husband... I believe it's good to make the distinction. Because she is "the one to blame" for Chandler, not so much with her husband.
I understand where you’re coming from but it’s still a very individual and subjective matter. Some people greet each other with a kiss on the mouth, others feel like hugging too long is cheating. Legally - depending on where you live (country or state!) - it can be considered cheating until the divorce is final.
Omg I loved your face palm 😂 Thank you for sharing your reactions! I always look forward to them! Btw, regarding Joey losing the Boxer part: If I remember correctly Matthew Perry actually coached a friend of his on how to best play Chandler when he thought he himself wouldn't be available to audition for the part. (The friend ended up getting offered the part but the universe did its thing and we got Perry in the end.) It reminds me of another Joey parallel with Perry: He often suggested his own jokes for Chandler's lines and got praised for it. Meanwhile Joey gets killed off in his show for claiming to write his own lines. 🙃
What you said about Joey at the end is so true, Joey really is surprising 🥰 he’s a really good friend, he’s always there for the rest of the group and even more with the girls, cus he’s very protective with them
holy, is it really half a year since you started this series? crazy. But congrats to your patience, i would binge it in a few weeks (i know that because i did it in november^^ was the 4th or 5th time watching all in all)
Yeah if only he would binge it a bit more, but then again, we all watched it like 24 episodes a year. The perfect amount for me would be exaclty this, but twice a week ;)
You reacting to friends is like a little gift to the community, if there is any ;) It is one of the few things I look out for to watch. And as much as I love it like this, please do it twice a week 😂
Flying through it? Sorry, that's hilarious. 🤣🤣 I'm not exagerrating when I say that my sister and I rewatch this entire series 5 times a year, and we have for decades now. As much as I love friends, have you ever tried Seinfeld? I know, its a whole different feeling but you should have aged into it by now and Friends actually got a lot of inspiration from Seinfeld. I love Friends, but George Costanza will never not be my favourite sitcom character.
@@yousnoerd Seinfeld was right in my timeline, and I watched a lot of it. I had, I think, the first 4 seasons on DVD at one point. Funnily enough, George is the reason I STOPPED watching Seinfeld. The one where his fiance dies from licking stamps for their wedding invitations, or something, and he's happy about it? Have I got that right? I hated that. It put me off the whole show. It was never as high in my estimation as Friends anyway, so I ditched it easily. After that, it was all Friends and Frasier for me.
@@byronabrahams871 Yeah it was a comedy show, not a mix of feelgood drama and comedy like Friends was. Larry Davids motto from the start basically was: no tears, no teaching. He wanted it to purely be about the funny and it really was so funny to me. To this day i can just, out of nowhere, be reminded of a Seinfeld scene and start chuckling.
The Chandler and Janice breakup was inevitable but still sad. I thought it was very mature of Joey to say what he said, especially since he's often made out to be kinda stupid and immature. Fun fact: In the scene when Chandler pops up the paper bag Janice was using, they had rehearsed it many times with him just grabbing the bag gently and the air in the bag was supposed to go out slowly. But during the take, Matthew Perry used more force than he had in any rehearsal and it popped. Maggie was able to hide her face in the bag but, even though he does a good job of covering it, we can see Matthew trying to hold his laughter.
Want to feel old? The song that plays on the juke box came out 25 years before the canonical setting of that episode. That would be like an episode today playing "say my name" by destiny's child which was released 3 years after this season premiered.
It's really around this part in the series you start to see the physical changes in Matthew Perry that were the result of his addiction issues. As you can see here very clearly, he's lost a lot of weight, and his facial expressions aren't as laid back as in the beginning. Then at some point later, he gains weight and gets that very typical alcoholism-induced puffiness in the face. His voice also changes a bit at some point. I remember I noticed this even the first time I watched the whole series (before that I'd only seen random episodes every now and then on TV). But it wasn't until later I learned about his addiction issues and put the things together. It's honestly amazing how good of an actor he was even when he was in such bad shape.
Ohh Oscar, once again you brighten up a Monday with another fantastic reaction (and that iconic giggle). 😊😊 So glad you’re able to go full time with your channel my guy! Any news on the acting front? Any exciting call backs? (Obviously those things take time, grinding it out, and patience)

Wait staff wages are criminally low in the US. I believe the hourly wage is less than $3.00 an hour so their tips make up the majority of their income many times. Sadly, the minimum wage for others is less than $8.00 an hour and hasn't been increased in years. Peace, all 💕
