We played this song in the house with guests, with drinks and more food than you can imagine. Good old days in the 30's up to the 1950's. Still play the songs today. Just too much fun.
This version, although in my opinion, not as good as Jack Hylton’s, is a firm second for me, and I do quite like Gibbs’s vocals. I also happen to own a copy of this record too, having just got it at an antique store. It’s quite the record!
This wordy lyric would not be easy to sing at this brisk tempo, I would imagine, but Parker manages. Weems' hot sides, of this earlier period, are my favorites.
Amazing quality for the year, both the recording and the transfer.

That music is gone and the way things are looking food and drink will be too...
Thanks for posting!!!
Excellent !
Definitely a "desert island" record!!! Many thanks for posting this favorite!
One of my favorite Weems sides, along with “What a Day!”; love the orchestration and that hot trumpet solo!

"P-E-T-R-O-L. Well that's a funny way to spell water." ahh vocals 😭🙏

What does this have to do with any of the Olympic class?

I only know Jack Hylton's version, hearing a very clearly American voice over this song feels extremely wrong.
