What made the Weems Orchestra special in the late '20's,in my opinion, were the imaginative arrangements, use of insruments, key changes etc. In this number there is a good tuba or sousaphone solo followed by some glorious piano, with presumably much use of the loud pedal, which produces an 'echoey' effect. Wonderful cymbal crashes-perfectly timed!
Boy, Grzegorz!!! You know just how to brighten up a rainy day!!! I LOVE THIS!! Love the 1920 Oldsmobile at 2:19, I Have a 1924 4 door Oldsmobile model B With the first radiator and trim to use Chrome! IT`S A 6 cylinder, Very Dark Purple Blue with Black Finders. along with my other 6 1920s cars, it`s the tallest, at 6' 2" tall. This video is as 1920s as you can get! just my style. Thank You so much for Your hard work on this AWESOME video.

What is it that makes Weems stand out aboee the other bands? Some I like, other I love, but I keep returning to Weems. I had about a dozen of Weems records, all beat to h*ck, but they they were amongst the record I most often played. I've never come across a commercial copy that was better than V+
In Polish a run in the stocking is "oczko" (an eye) - "poszło oczko w pończosze" meaning literally: a stocking has an eye. I remember from childhood the places looking like newspaper kiosks, or sometimes they were just little corner counters in department stores - where women could repair stockings. These points were always full od clients and it must have been quite a lucrative little job for some retired lady who run it. And suddenly, almost overnight - that profession disappeared.
They were "foot-loose and fancy-free" and . . . their "DECKS were cleared for ACTION!" Stop the music. STOP the MUSIC! - What kind of "ACTION" ? Well, admittedly light-duty back then but, now it's HEAVY!! Right! You got it! Music again!
Grzegorz, another home run and thanks much. BTW, Clara wasn't the sexually obsessed lady written about and the idea for example that she bedded a college football team has long been dismissed as myth. Which is not to say she wasn't permissive as was many a flapper of that day and time. But there was much written about her that was not true. Still a sad story tho.
some bitch flapper blocked her videos from me who had this song. I didnt care about her dancing, i just wanted to hear this song. Thanks for posting!!!!!!!
The bathing beauty at 1:30 looks so much like my daughter. Do you have any information of who she was? Looks like she could easily be a relative. Eyes and smile, oh my, could be taken for my daughter's sister. By the way, my daughter has "It'" too. Lots of boys after her, the girls want to be her friend - just like Elinor Glyn said. (She'll be embarrassed if she ever reads this. )
Yes, she indeed was a "IT" owner. I was surprised to read some time ago - in some American actor's biography - that Clara Bow was "a sexoholic", as we'd call that disease today. Back then it was called : nymphomania. It totally ruined her life. She was constatntly engagin herself into new relationship, than - dropping her partner to another, than engaging and dropping again and again... plus a lot of booze and probably, dope. Such a sweet & childlish face - and what a tragedy behind it.
Lovely word --oczko. But now women just toss the stocking, eye and all, into the trash. Poor blind stocking...Worth a poem. By the way Clara Bow attended my high school in Brooklyn many, many decades ago. Never graduated, far as I know. Didn't know she was such a sexpot!
Than ks Masquerade. Ted Weems had his best years between 1927-30. All his recordings from that era are just glorious!

Much of what you state were malicious rumors....!
