A lot of people may not appreciate some of his off field antics, but I always thought he was the emotional centerpiece on those great 1990s Cowboy teams. When he got hurt and forced into retirement the Cowboys WERE NEVER the same.
Mar.5th: Happy birthday Michael Jerome Irvin Sr. "The Playmaker." 3 x Super Bowl Champion, 5 x Pro Bowl, Pro Bowl MVP, Dallas Cowboy Ring of Honor, Pro Football Hall of Fame. Thank you and God bless. Thanks for the upload, FL Films. Blessings
tejastrojan TRUTH! Speak the truth, primo! You could see their lack of motivation, of emotion, of heart, in that Rams playoff game. They didn’t look like they had their mind on the game after that first drive. A leader like Irvin would have focused that ass.
Saw Michael Irvin in Vegas on the Sidelines of a High school game Bishop Gorman vs. St. Thomas. He was pumping the players up just like he did during his Dallas days. Whatever problems he had that's his problem but if I wanted a Playmaker he would be one of the first players I would pick. He went toe to toe with the best and even beat them.....Deion
Michael needs a football life episode that really captures his career and the impact he had on the league and his value to the Cowboys. There was nothing more exciting and beautiful than watching 88 catch a deep skinny post pass between two defenders.
I would have Bob Lilly at 3. Among wide receivers, I would have Drew Pearson ranked ahead of Irvin. Irvin has more recently cleaned up his personal life, but a while back, he was hardly representable off-the-field of the traditional Cowboys.
His rookie year in a training camp scrimmage vs the San Diego Chargers- he got into a fight with a DB. That started the change in the Cowboys from the end of the Landry era to the 90's!
The list is lame .. No Romo on mine. Bob Lily, Randy White, Staubach, Aikman, Emmitt, Irvin, Drew P, Tony Dorsett, Erik Williams ... highest impact players. Lee Roy Jordan was nearly Staubach's equal on the defensive side.. but never tooted his own horn. The Ring of Honor holds most of the best.
They were probably trying to keep this list to career Cowboys. Otherwise there is NO justification for putting Tony Romo ahead of Deion Sanders and Charles Haley. It was laughable enough they put him on over Demarcus Ware and Larry Allen.
Prime Time was probably the greatest corner back and return specialist ever but he only played in Dallas a handful of years. They aren't going to put him on this list because he was just as well known as a Falcon and a 49er as he was a Cowboy.
@@ashleighelizabeth5916 yes. When I first saw the video I wasn't aware that they only went for career long Cowboys. Makes sense. But Emmitt played two years for Arizona and still made it onto the list
Rich Dalrymple is also incompetent by not thinking that Jimmy Johnson was a UM coach in the late 80s and a Cowboys Dynasty coach in the early 90s. That guy only built a championship team to hand it over to a knucklehead that only won a superbowl by making a conference rival weaker by signing a star defensive player.
Michael Leibowitz because nobody won 3 bowls in that decade a few teams won 2. but Cowboys won 3. even with 4 winning seasons they were at a better win percentage. hence team of the 90's
I'm pretty sure he love doing good for the Dallas Police too. Probably ate pastries & had coffee ☕️ The reason I believe this is he was not selfish and knew they had families too. So in return All he knew is to win for Dallas 😁👍🏈 Awesome.
Should have made the triplets 3a, 3b, & 3c. Boot Romo. Add Pearson, Hayes, Harris, & Allen. Staubach & Lilly 2 & 1 in either order. Coach Landry the infinity Cowboy.
I think it has to do with who was the leader and fire of the team, which Irvin was. In 1991 when he had his breakout year and everyone saw what he could do, it really opened up the lanes for Emmitt. Not taking anything away from 22, whatsoever, he was the offensive jugarnaut for them, but when the run failed and they were behind in the 3rd quarter on a 3rd and long, that first down completion was usually 88 and itd set up a score from 22, 80, or 84 and change the tide of the game.
Michael Irvin aka "Playmaker" I watched every game he played I don't think we have another Irvin!!! My list Dallas WR's #1 Irvin #2 Dez #3 TO #4 Pearson #5 Witten TE #6 Harper #7 Hayes RB #8 Cooper!?!?! #9 Zeke RB #10 Beastly
How you gonna put Drew Pearson at #4??? TO’s career numbers are better than Pearson’s but you said this is a COWBOYS receivers list, right? Drew Pearson was a Cowboy for 11 seasons. TO wore the star for 3 seasons. I’m filing a protest! Flag on the play! No Novacek? You got Alvin Harper ahead of Bullet Bob Hayes??? C’MON MAN! EDIT: And damn! You already got Cooper on the list??? I almost missed that due to the rest of the list being so egregious!
This numbering is completely wrong. He should not be ahead of the guy that threw a lot of his yards to him and the leading rusher in the NFL. I do agree being a top ten Cowboy, but not ahead of those two. The leading rusher being who he was kept the guy throwing the ball from a lot more of the stats he could have got and that is a reason a lot of people do not give the 90s Boys passer the credit he deserves. At least the thrower did not get put in jail for committing crimes or left the team for another division rival and then insult the guys that provided much of his production. What a piece of crap list.
Irvin a better wide receiver than Dorsett is a running back. Absolutely no chance TD carried the Cowboys for ten years. People will be saying Irvin was quicker than TD next. Shouldn't even be in the top ten.
I love Irving and I'm a cowboys fan but I hate when they go idk Bc this or that Bc of off field behavior like fuck thattt all that matters is on the field like yeah we don't want our players killing or raping people like Big Ben but shit if they talk shit or don't wanna talk to media that's cool
Me>Irvin His first 3 years he was a nobody and my 1st 3 years is already better than his prime he was a distraction on his team a drughead he was He was not a team 1st guy
As a Packers fan, this list is officially garbage the minute you put Michael Irvin in the top 10 cowboys, let alone the top 3. I'm looking at: Bob Lilly Ed "Too Tall" Jones Randy White Larry Allen Tony Dorsett Don Meredith Deion Sanders Even Tony Romo is a better candidate than Michael Irvin. The Cowboys offense in that time frame was surrounded around Emmitt Smith running the rock, so how is a second-rate wide receiver end up so high on a list of the second most storied organization in the NFC?
How do you leave off the Cowboys's all time leading receiver? The fact you said ROMO was a better candidate is completely laughable. Romo shouldn't even be sniffing the list. #3 is too high for him, but there is no doubt Irvin belongs.
Why don’t you try looking at the books if you’re so confused Matthew. I can’t think of another NFL team with as rich a history at the wide receiver position. And it’s real easy to find his name. It’s at the top of the wide receiver list. That’s right. He’s the number one wide receiver in Dallas Cowboys history. That’s why he’s up there on that list. You got it? Good.
What a great teammate Irvin is. Notice how he would never put himself ahead of Troy and Emmitt.
