Hi Patty. My biggest makeup need is creativity/inspiration. It seems like so many UA-camrs have gone to focusing only on reviewing products and less on what brought them to create a makeup channel in the first place - a passion for makeup! You do phenomenal eyeshadow looks that have me coming back time after time. Your excitement and confidence in creating a look is what gets me thinking "that would look cool on my eyes". Then I explore links (I'm on my way to the rephr sale after I type this : ) ). Please just keep focusing on what truly inspires you - your genuineness comes through. PS. Sometimes I struggle with what colors would look good with each other rather than just the regular nudes. Then I get looking at pictures of colorful birds on instagram and see just how exquisite Mother Nature's palette is. If you're ever looking for eyeshadow inspiration, check it out! Love you, Patty!

Good points! I find I get stuck in a rut and end up doing whatever I've practiced most! I'm certainly not the "artistic" type, so it's lovely to see how new products can be used etc and actually get some inspiration!

Have you visited Hannah Louise Poston’s channel? She’s about not overspending and using what you have- she’s creativity in a shell!!! I absolutely love Patty’s creativity just as much, it’s just a bit different than Hannah’s! I believe you would enjoy her channel check her out! 🙂

So many great tips! The one that was a real "Ah Ha" for me was when you described using the eyeball shape to position shadows evenly, when the hooded skin is different on each eye. I have been just looking in the mirror and trying to get both eyes even just by repeatedly blending and looking to ensure evenness. I'm going to try just using my eyeball shape and ignoring the skin differences. Thank you!

Love my Rephr brushes. They have a good eyelash curler as well. They are awesome and reasonably priced, especially with their wonderful sales. With my stick straight, pointing down lashes, I then use thin coat of waterproof, to freeze the curl, followed by a few coats of volumizing mascara.
Love this type of video, because you are a master, and we need help to level up our makeup skills.
Your talent is amazing and I am such a fan.
I have hooded eyes as well, so this was very helpful.
Rarely, use a wing, but will try this 1/2 wing.
I just usually tightline the upper inner lid with black. Gwen Stefani’s is a favorite. It’s very black, lasting, and goes on smoothly.
Then I tightline the bottom lid with a matching colorful shade to the eyeshadow look. This way, no limited eyelid real estate is taken away from by eyelid shimmer shades.

For me, I use rephr 01 as my "transition shade" brush because I have typical East Asian eyes so not a lot of real estate in general! The larger fluffy brushes are just too large for me so I scale everything down and use the even smaller fluffy brush (I forgot the number) for the darker shade!

1st of all I want to say thank you for the Rephr Bogo add I went and bought all 8 brushes that I was missing from the full collection which I now have ... yay!
And I love that you're doing this video I was wondering ...I haven't been following you forever but I was wondering if you did instructionals. I've only really seen reviews so I'm very happy to see this! your eye shadows always on point, obviously! so my big concern! my only, chronic issue, and I'm not a newbie, is I have the hardest time not getting my lower lid eyeshadow NOT to press or stamp onto my upper lid. Cut creases are a nightmare. I just can't get it to say down. I'm using the "right " primers ...I'm using the right setting sprays... im not mixing cream/powder/shimmer/chromes...... I'm doing everything I think is right (lol) but it's obviously not because it's not working. So how'd you get that lower lid shadow to stay on the lower lid?

I absolutely cant take transition that high, its taken me a long time to learn that one of my hooded eyes has much worse overhang with patch that doesn’t blend as well on it. I’ve found added the middle colour and using a transition to blend that up a bit gives me a much better look than trying to do transition first, roseandben tutorials taught me that one. My wings are a nightmare too as one eye has 3 folds, i have to drop my wing to go more straight than that towards the eyebrow. It’s taken me years to work that out. One pink blush exception that works with everything for some reason is the Dior Backstage Rosy Glow in pink, it doesn’t go on cool toned even though it looks it in the pan, it just looks like a sun kissed glow across the cheeks and i always put that one on my nose too. Adding a little coral or orange at the back also emphasises the sun kissed effect. One thing ive also realised is that i badly need more warm toned lipsticks, i only have dark brown autumnal tones or pale neutrals to wear with warm looks.

Brilliant tutorial, I'm in my mid 50's and because both eyes are very different in terms of hooded lids, I'd realised I need to concentrate on them individually rather than continually trying to make them match each other as much as possible. Ageing is such a pain in the a**e, especially when your skin starts to crepe on the eyelid and loses it's elasticity! Your demo's are the best, always detailed descriptions of what you're doing and why, I'm continually learning. Please can we have the wing tutorial but with neutral eyeshadows and black liquid eyeliner so it's easier to see what's going on?!...xx
