Amtrak rolls through here at about 60 MPH normally. Sometimes, they don't hit the brakes until they are IN Oceanside station. I ride between OSD and SAN all the time.
That's not even high speed. You're fasted train amtrack has go 120mph (apparently) but it is restricted to go 60mph. And the fasted you're barely allowed to go is 70mph. Basically, your passenger trains in America are just going slow and causing delays deliberately to waste your money on them.
