  • A moment of great pride for me as I watch my husband turn into a Disney Adult! We were at Disneyland on Valentine's Day during an extended layover back from a trip and had only gotten 2 hours of sleep. So it may have just been the sleep deprivation mixed with a few beers talking, but Joel was really wanting to see Mulan's parade (as part of the Lunar New Year Celebration at California Adventure).
At first I thought he was joking, but he kept asking if we were in a spot where the parade would come through. He didn't grow up watching Disney a lot as a kid so I've been trying to find any opportunity to get him to enjoy Disney as an adult (without the nostalgia).Out of all the things we did I think watching Mulan's parade was definitely my favorite just to watch his reaction!
Oh and when he saw Oswald he asked "What's Mickey doing in Mulan's parade?" haha guess we have a ways to go on the Disney knowledge!

I don't understand why Mulan is dressed in the formal lady dress that she hates. Why not her armor or her more normal village clothes?

Hello! Thank you so much for saying that the Disney Character’s love it when adults say hi/get emotional (on what it is like to be a Disney performer video). I LOVE Ariel because I’m in a wheelchair (have been since birth) so as a kid I really connected with the fact that she was a mermaid and didn’t have legs but wished that she did (or in my case, wished they worked). I was lucky enough to go to Disney as a kid but I think there is something equally as magical about seeing the characters as an adult because you can now articulate what your favorite characters mean to you and even remember the experience if you were too young/didn’t to go as a child.
PS if you ever get a chance to see Ariel again would you please give her a hug for me?🐠 🧜‍♀️ 🌊

I'm so sorry I'm just seeing your comment now (admittedly I'm not on UA-cam as much as I used to), but it just made my day! I haven't shared this on UA-cam like I have on my other social platforms but I was in an accident in September and used a wheelchair for several months while I recovered. I can very much relate to what you said about Ariel being a mermaid and wishing for legs and I definitely felt like Ariel when she gets legs for the first time as I learned how to walk again. So nice to hear someone else make that connection to Ariel and being in a wheelchair too ❤️
