I just ordered a bunch of chopped carbon and resin for another car project. I might have to make a fuel door for my Evo with the leftovers, thanks for the idea and tutorial!
Shoulda takin your “flange” off used parts wax #2 , 3 coats buff off pva then gel coat and resume process… you loose the thickness of the part from the thickness of the flange…, once cured grind back till you see the 2 layers then pop them apart with a puddy knife popsicle sticks etc
Love the video man. Hope to see more! Getting ready to do some things for my f30 😎 FYI. A light heat source should remove those air bubbles in the cup prior to applying(at least that’s been my experience). Could make it easier for you
I just added all the links in the description. The mold starter kit that I ordered and used to make this mold has a list in its description to all the links if you want to order things separately.
Yes i order my brushes from amazon and i got some scissors from fiberglast.com although i kinda want to get the electric scissors because nothing that i have can cut Kevlar well. a good mask is also important when cutting material. I use a headlight polishing pad to buff my molds after wet sanding. I use Fibertack MT-1 for my layup when making a carbon part. i tried super 77 and 71 but had a lot of issues with the surface quality. Hope this helps! Awesome video man. Looking at getting into CF making as a hobby and see where i can go from there...super easy video to follow for mold making
It is a fun hobby although a bit frustrating at times.
Nice job can't wait to see the end piece!
Being trying to a mold too. The PVA needs to be sprayed to get a smooth finish. Trying my mold making for the third time. Learning curve
Yeah I just got an air compressor so I can spray PVA now. I have been using a chemical release and that seems to work well
@@CleffersGarage Thanks for the info
I'm waiting for your next step tutorial until we have successfully done the carbon fiber product.
so please keep making the next content video for us
New video up! ua-cam.com/video/e4Af3yRFjXg/v-deo.html

thank you i'll have to try that it might help with the surface finish.
Plan on doing a polypatch one?
Can you list out all of the products you used to make the molds?

@@CleffersGarage awesome! Any materials or tools you recommend having that the links don't provide? Like good scissors and paint brushes and what not?

@@CleffersGarage awesome man. Thanks a ton!!
What did you use for fillet wax? Thanks for sharing! Keep up the good work!

Nice vid
I wanna do the same for my mk5 Supra
That would be awesome!
How do you mix your gelcoat? Or is it ready to apply?
The gelcoat that i have calls for 2% MEKP by weight and then just mix it up with a popsicle stick.
Interesting video but I’m getting motion sick. Camera stand isn’t just a decoration…
Hello.how do you rinse the brushes from resin or throw them away?
I toss them every time. I guess you could find a way to clean them and save some moneys.
What are you using for filet wax to fill the void

It won't let me heart this.....that makes me sad
I will talk to the developers and see what they can do about it. 😘
That’s not how you do it, unless it is. I don’t know a single thing about carbon fiber.
Where did you buy the gelcoat?
