Yes, we’ve used roseanne brown from other growers for events in the past, but the blooms were not nearly as large as these. I’m astounded. It must be all the rain. 😉
@@greenbeefloralco yeah i know she is smaller... i will try new ones next year... but i still love the antique look of her. :-) im trying to dry some.. will see
Wonderful to see how well your farm is doing and gorgeous bouquets! I’m totally smitten by Floret Alpenglow, and leaving them to grow on for the extra week or even two has produced spectacular “fluffy “ blooms! I will definitely be reading up on how to save seeds from them! Thanks for a great video, definitely worth the wait 😊
I'm not going to say the trick is to plant 200 of each variety....lol...but it might be. :P Success by over planting? In truth, we were finding the organza bags were staying too damp at this farm and when they'd dry they'd dirty the petals anyways - especially the light dahlias - so last year we planted the boom boom whites out at this farm plot to see how they would do with bug pressure, and we have surprisingly little there. It's been a very good summer here for japanese beetles as Beryl came through when they should have been emerging for mating. We've also culled a lot of dahlia varieties out of our wholesale offerings that do attract the bugs - I'm sure you've also noticed that they like certain colours of blooms more than others. We mostly only sell our tried + true ball dahlias to the wholesaler now since that is what they are looking for. Obviously, if you love using organza bags and that system is working for you, keep going. :)
They are commercial veggie growers. The spray is an industrial fungicide which requires a sprayers license in Canada. It won’t be available to home gardeners.

Thank you for another great video.
How do you possibly get florist quality dahlia blooms without organza bags? The bugs are all over my dahlias.

Will the rest of the buds open on Lisianthus after it’s been cut?
What did she spray the zinnias with? My Florets started early as well but I love them.
