- Why you should NEVER buy a NIkon DSLR for videos? Filming with a Nikon DSLR can be very frustrating and I talk about why so...
In this video I talk about why you should not buy this camera and it's overall real capabilities when it comes to video settings.
Do I still think this is a good camera for videos - well you'll find out!

Here's MY response here: ua-cam.com/video/A09WcrgXiIU/v-deo.html
watching this in 2023.
My budget is super tight and the Nikon 5300 is the one that fits in my budget.
i feel you bro
2024 here,
this or canon 600d i don't know yet!
This video is misleading. Autofocus depends on the lens you are using. You are using a sigma lens and blaming on Nikon. I have the same Nikon camera and we make movie with this. There were no problems at all. There are also custom cinema profile for Nikon. If you do not have correct knowledge, you should not mislead people with this type of vide.
Why is he complaining lol.
Z50 literally shoots at 4K 30 FPS😂😂
I just love your trademark...... "We all start with nothing, BUT we can definitely create something" ❤

Agree with you on pretty much on everything. Bad sides are low light and autofocus. However while autofocus can't be fixed, low light 🔦 can be controlled by additional lighting.
I think as well that if you are all about video you should go for something else.
I’m a beginner and your videos really help me to relate on how to use my Nikon camera .
You can also load custom picture profiles to the cameras. Maybe the d5200 sucks but the only thing I dont like about nikon is the autofocus for video. Professional filmakers dont use auto focus. Do your research before you make videos, look at sample footage of other nikon models on UA-cam. Videos of the d5300 and on are acutally quite good.
I got a D5300 and the auto focus is shiit lol. Still makes decent video tho but it's all about manual focusing. For me, the 19.59 second video limit is annoying as is no headphone jack. Saving money for a GH5
Darie Nani I also have the d5300 trust me all the manual focusing now will only make you better!!!
agreed :D
my whole demo reel is filmed on a d5200 :)
Thanks for the info's
I am a Nikon fanboy and I agree with your video. I was a mainly photography guy and there were no better cameras for photos than the Nikons. But as I started to do videos damn Nikon sucks. I'm looking forward to buy a Canon for video just because of the dual pixel autofocus. But no camera at the moment comes close to Nikon photo quality and efficiency.
Then wich one should i buy for the same price?
BUY A AF-P Lens You really need it ..... Auto focus with AF-P much much better than your afs lens.. I hope this will fix your auto focus issue. I am also Nikon user. Check out some video Af-p lens review..
is it suitable for d5200? ...i heard its not..but i never try it
I love using my Nikon camera for video. The image quality is every bit as good as Canon or Sony. I simply do not use autofocus and I don't miss it either.
I agree with you 100%
Thank you
The jump from d5200 to the d5300 is actually good ngl
This might be a dumb question, but I have a Nikon D5300 and the autofocus isn't that great. If I use a cannon lens on the Nikon with the converter adapter to be able to use a canon lease, will the autofocus problem be resolved?

Para mi el autoenfoque no es tan fatal, para producciones rara vez lo usarás... Lo que si es lamentable es no contar con más controles manuales o automáticos como velocidad de obturación, iso o diafragma durante el video.
Ha you were predicting the futur with the A7siii :)
ihave d7000 ilove u bro... lets keep it up.. nikon is forever
good video bro, the autofocus is bad but my nikon d5300 does film in 1080 60fps and I can use custom profiles
💪📸
I shoot vids with the D5600 and was wondering where I could get custom picture profiles for it. Thanks.
I love my d5500 for video. It'd be perfect if it had great auto focus. Gotta work with what you have right. Also the 5500 shoots 1080p60 and has a flat picture profile option for video. Good stuff
Kris Cortez he's used d5500 in the title for clicks when a few of the negatives just apply to his camera because its the older version.. He should change that. And people need to start saying poor auto focus in video.. Because people start thinking you can't even focus for a picture
I just picked up the d5600 several weeks ago and absolutely enjoy filming with it. I did a low light video with the 18-55mm kit lense and it did well. I just ordered a 35mm f1.8 so I'll be doing another low light test with that as soon as it arrives. Also, I can shoot 60fps in 1080p. I have no complaints.
there's isn't much difference between d5500 and the d5200 - i guess people read titles and don't watch to the end! nothing but love for my camera
are you dumb ? The D5200 is so much worse than the rest
BVC Co. really😂? The d5500 is a lot better. Flat profile, 1080p 60fps, better low light, rotating touch screen... much better camera.
Canon 600D best?
well for u but for me its far better for video than then canon. Probably ur not good in handling nikon
some will says: But serious filmmakers will use manual focusing and get better video. I agree with that, but what happen when you need to film a event with a lot of persons and you need to be in two places at time? i tried to setup two nikons, one to be getting video alone and other will be with me in manual mode kkkkk the camera i used in manual with me get the job, but the one i leave in autofocus hooping to get a general look of the event, was terrible. So i concluded that: If you will work with only one camera at time, the nikon will work great if you use it in manual focus mode, with some pratice, of curse. But if you work alone and need two views of a job, and have only two nikons, youre f***** kkkk canon and sony have better autofocus than nikon dslr. better leave one of this for work in autofocus mode while you get another camera in manual focus mode for better shoots.
And then the Z6 and Z7 came out...
Dat raw video tho
The d500 is also a really good camera. Has in body stabilization, shoots 4k, 1080p 60fps. Also nikon is the king when it comes to photos.
Just buy a Canon if you want to shoot videos and take pictures (or a Sony/Panasonic, if you want a mirrorless... but consider their limited lens selection and higher prices on those). It has the best autofocus and some cheap original Canon prime lenses that are much wider than the ones offered by Nikon.
You have said it’s not a bad place to start. Indeed, but at the same price with Canon you’re getting much more if we’re talking about video performance. Plus, you’re likely to continue buying lenses for Nikon and switching later on would be hard and not economical.
You're not wrong - use what you got but options are always good to consider
And even in 2023 Nikon is not so good for video.
to late lolol
well i do have the d5600 and it shows it does 1080p 60
Hahaha
get a newer nikon bro
