Drai looks unbelievable out there. It seems like he is going to put the team on his back if he has to. What a tense game after the Oilers were completely dominating the first half. As soon as LA scored, the game really tightened up.
This is going to a fun series to watch the rest of the way.
Drai is an absolute machine. We're looking at the 2023 Conn Smythe winner!

Interesting stat, Draisaitl lead the league in scoring in the final 21 games of the season. And tied for 1st with 5 points in the playoffs so far. Hottest player in the league right now.
Regular season was also the Draisaitl show.
Draisaitl got that playoff gear and "it" factor. McDavid is the same (at best) in both RS and playoffs.
Leon Draisaitl is just an Ice Warlord out there... playing even better than McDavid right now.
Leon looks Unstopped... you can only hope to contain him. He's playing even better than last season and you all saw what he did in those playoffs.

Or his great board battle win freeing up the puck for Klim. Or the 2 goal performance in the first game. Yet the only thing you can come up with is: “WoUlD yOu MiNd TeLliNg Me WhO sEt Up ThE sEcOnD gOaL”. Great pass by Connor, but Leon was by far the better player in the first two games. Give Drai some credit ffs, the amount of disrespect is absolutely telling and by using your comment you are implying that he’s carried by Connor throughout this game-that’s delusional at best. And it doesn’t make it better that you spam those comments under every comment giving Drai some praise. Pathetic

It's like Leon Draisaitl gets a power up every year to start the playoffs.
It's hard for guys to play a point a game pace come playoffs. Leon some how finds a way to push it to almost 2ppg every playoffs. His hockey IQ is absolutely off the charts.

Loved Kostin's goal. Never reached his potential in St Louis, but he has skill and grit. Hoping he keeps it up.
Not enough people talking about Bouchard being the oldest looking 23 yr old I have ever seen.
He looks like a seasoned vet that has more playoff experience than both teams combined. Really just getting his career started. Can’t wait to see where his talent and millennial dad looks get him.

Second L.A goal last game, first L.A goal this game....HIS MAN. He blew his coverage. Sorry, not on the Bouchard bandwagon at all. Too many costly mistakes.
What a game.. was on the edge of my seat. Hats off to LA for this one, they really made this a playoff worthy game.
Drai is too good. He gets a lot of credit but I still think he deserves even more
Korpisalo is playing some excellent hockey, that third goal he'd probably want back but just from the highlights he's saving 8-10 grade-A+ shots on some of the best players in the entire world.

Kings fan here.....got to give it. Oilers definitely earned that win. Better team overall. 0 shots in the first until the last two minutes? No way that's a winning recipe in the playoffs. Tying it up was great courtesy of Vilardi who is FORTUNATELY back....imagine we get Fiala back too? But, now we head to LA for the next two games and I feel this series is about to hit another level of intensity. Go Kings Go!

This is certainly going to be a longer series. My question is also about the goalies. Some say Skinner cracked last game (I don't think he did). Some may second guess the 3rd Oiler goal on Korpisalo. The pressure is on these 2......Will we eventually see Copely and/or Campbell this series? I wouldn't bet against it.

Oilers looked incredible in the 1st
I'll give the Kings a lot of credit here. They are getting sticks in lanes and are covering their respective players REALLY well. They had a lot of possession time in the 3rd period it felt like. I'm glad the Oilers won but the Kings are covering the Oilers top 6 surprisingly well.
that third period was frustrating... Oilers just kept dumping it in to LA end, and then circling back for line changes.. Even when they had it in the LA zone, they didn't seem to fight for it very much, compared to LA who fought like rabid animals in the Oilers zone when they had it.. I think they gassed themselves in periods 1 and 2... They need to figure out a way to play a full 60 minutes at the same intensity..
@@Apoch86 really? i feel like the effort from the kings was comical at best. couldn't get a single competent zone entry the entire 3rd period (thats not even mentioning the other two periods) and when we really needed to get korpi out of the net we just skated circles in our own zone. I know edmonton's forecheck was nuts today but still felt like peewees vs pros today.
@@boyboynova Maybe I just have a bit of PTSD from game 1 haha.. I watched the 3rd period from my peripheral, and through the spaces between my fingers XD
Felt like the Oilers were just giving up the puck over and over and over, dumping from our zone out of desperation, or dumping from neutral for a line change, then LA would carry it up the ice.. Maybe LA didn't do a great job, but for me at least it was frustrating to watch the Oilers play that way
Depriving opponents of the puck is key to winning games and keeping leads.
Just remember, including the 2 call backs, the Oilers have gotten 9 past Korpi in 2 games. If the Oilers can improve in g3 the way they did from g1-2, they are in good shape. And you gotta think there is an even up game coming where the oil have the pp advantage. They just need to tighten up their stick discipline a bit.
Kudos to the Kings for yet another comeback - this team just does not give up. Glad the series is tied, but Skinner gave up a couple softies. He has to be better moving forward!

@MattAlbie Korpasalo kept it from being 4 nothing in the first. Never knew much about him before the series but he's been solid for them. Will need to find a chink in the armor.
Hockey is always a game of inches, but the "shots on goal" are usually a combination indicator of which end most of the play took place, and of the effectiveness of the defense. The inches part is the diameter of the pipe, and the openings between the goalie, the ice and the pipe. Goalie positioning and reaction time play a part, but that all depends on if the goalie sees the puck, where it is coming from, and how fast it is coming, and what opening it is coming to.
Lol LA was never in this game they got worked despite the score. The only thing keeping the games close is LA goaltending otherwise they would have gotten hammered in both games

Leon on his mission! He's on track to "Mr Stanley cup" bringing him home to where he belongs, to edmonton. And the Oil became fluidly and is with him on his way. You will see, McDavid takes Leon by the Hand in the next games walking with him the in front of the hole team. Great win tonight boys!

Our top 6 has to show up next game, only guy doing anything in the top 6 is Draisaitl, and he's showing off what he can do in the playoffs with 2 legs, guy has been a beast the last 2 games, we just need McDavid and our other star players to show up and we should take the series. It's definitely harder with the refs game managing us to hell, I can only imagine how bad they'll be in LA..

@@ryans413 even though they’re being focused on, they should still have some chances here and there, literally only heard McDavids name like 3 times, then Nuge twice (one where he took that penalty) then Hyman twice, then Kane probably 3 times? Draisaitl is getting some pressure on him as well but he’s still being an absolute beast out there.

Daneault and Kopitar are playing the best defensive hockey of their careers right now. It also helps that the refs are afraid to call penalties on LA due to the lethality of the Oilers pp, and the refs not wanting to be a reason for the outcome. Add to that Korpi is playing other worldly right now, and you can see why the oil's top 6 are quiet as far as point production. But, if you look at the domination of puck control and zone time? Korpi, Daneault and Kopitar HAVE to be this good to keep the Kings above water. The question becomes, how long can those 3 hold up against the Oilers offense. And how long can Kempe be their only real offensive threat?

As good as McDavid is.. Drai really is showing his leadership and clutch skills in the playoffs. Every year I feel he turns it up a couple of gears in the playoffs. Hopefully McDavid will pop off in the upcoming games.. i feel he has been relatively quiet (credit to Daneult and Kopitar)

Yeah basically, 64 points in 39 games. 32 points in 16 games despite trashing his ankle in round one last year. He finds a whole other level come playoffs.
