A common problem with spray foam roofing is inexperienced contractors. With SPF being fluid-applied, it's easy to customize the slope. With so much ponding water, someone clearly didn't know what they were doing. Other problems include: limited installation window (needs to be 50 degrees + to apply), wind, and overspray potential. I'm not too sure about the "not a good idea to incorporate the AC unit as part of the roof". I thought that was a benefit, as opposed to single-ply's which need to use sealants, termination metal, and custom cutting to create a watertight area around the unit. All these extra parts and materials can cause a leak if not done properly.
Any idiot knows you can’t coat a foam roof with oil based Gilsonite the black coating your referencing too! The coating has xylene dryers which will immediately start to penetrate and eat up the foam ! Urethane foam is a excellent roof and let’s not forget great insulation! If this roof had been coated with a proper elastomeric coating your looking at a 40 year roof job ! The problem is Canadians think there umm black coating will fix or seal anything which any experienced roofer will tell you is bs ! STOP PUTTING GILSONITE PAINT ON GOOD ROOFS !!!!
😂😂thank you Steven. Foam roof with proper uv coating will pay for itself. Natural gas prices have doubled. Electricity will not get cheaper. Efficient structures are a must.
Well if this is common in Ontario They dont have decent foam roofing companies there. Spf roofing is second to none when done right. You dont apply asphalt roof coating over spf. And it takes an experienced applicator which old school is know as a foam mechanic to apply consistently. Not everyone can apply spf properly it takes proper training and a certain skill set
