They told me to jump into that mud river and land on my knees, I went first and did what they told me. I quickly realized it was 3 feet deep with concrete at the bottom, pretty much destroyed my knees
Did 2023, Summer Seminar. Was a wonderful experience, even if I don’t end up attending the academy. Sadly we didn’t get to do the E-course due to it being wet and injuries were likely. Other than that looked identical to what I did, other than detailers wearing AOR2 instead of the blue camo. My only disappointment was I didn’t get the aerospace or Astro space workshops. Echo 3-5
If you attend the summer seminar, do you have to apply to USNA? I’m interested in doing it because it sounds like a fun and unique experience, but I don’t know if I want to apply or go here
I did Summer Seminar in 2017 and plebe summer in 2018. I will tell you now Summer Seminar BARELY scratches the surface of plebe summer and plebe year. It’s a lot of fun tho :)
How was the physical aspect? How many push-ups and running in a day? I just applied for this summer and was wondering what kind of shape I need to be in for summer.
What's most important to consider is that summer seminar is an opportunity to complete the candidate fitness test and have your scores recorded for your application. I don't remember the exact requirements, but I think you can find them in USNA's admission info. But really, don't worry too much. You have an opportunity to take the test another time. What excites you most about going to summer seminar and possibly attending USNA? I'm excited to be starting there this summer.
QE Adventures I'm super excited to get the chance to spend a week up at the campus and learn kind of what it's like to be a mid. I really want to go to Navy because the opportunities it presents after graduation. I'm assuming since you said you are starting this summer that you got in. Congrats if so.
It's definitely a great way to see what the campus and life are like. If possible, apply to the West Point and USAFA summer programs too. Navy may be your first choice (it was for me), but attending all three will make your decision process easier. Plus, attending for a week will help you see whether you REALLY want to attend a service academy for college. Some people changed their minds during SS.
Currently a plebe at USNA. USNA is by far one of the best institutions at the academy. It sucks a lot of the time, but it's definitely worth it. If something was easy then it wouldn't be worth doing. A common misconception is that Summer Seminar is like life at the Naval Academy. It barely scratches the surface. Message me if you want any details.
Thanks! Right now I'm a candidate myself, so I'm in the middle of the admissions process and am still learning a lot about it, but I'd be happy to offer any help I can give you.
Super excited! The academy is so competitive and my math is really not very good, but my extracurricular helped a lot and I'm guessing my written responses. My name is Kurt from Florida hopefully I'll see you :p
