I spooled it with 8 LB test mono for lighter lures, gave it some practice casts and found that it did cast well ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e , except that the anti-backlash setting had to be turned up almost all of the way to keep the "overcasts' ' down. I disassembled it, and found that if I potted some "shim washers" behind that anti-backlash magnet assembly, it got the magnets closer to the spool without rubbing, and I could get better control with about a 6 to 7 out out 10-Max setting. I also noticed that the handle shaft had some internal end play, maybe only 2 or 3 thousands of an inch, but it's still noticeable. If the anti-backlash and shaft tolerances were "tightened up" this would be a fantastic value. I've only used it for 4 days of fishing in a month's time, but I plan on keeping it.
Can't say I'm a huge fan of D.I.Y. videos like that, I'd rather just see you catching some fish no matter the species but I have been enjoying the channel.. Keep em coming brother.. 👍🎣

Mongoose Pro this work use just a reel spool , Or Zebco 202 reel, or Bait cast reel . No rod. Works even better. Justifying fishing reels with line on them . Put hook and Sinker easy enough. Been doing it for years.
Hi dear bro I am Kashif Gill from Karachi Pakistan bro you made reel with wooden material which have high friction that why it's not working properly a little advise for you insert bearings at both sides of the spool and put a gear at left side and make a anti reverse system then it will become a real fishing reel.
You need to learn how to put the fish you catch back in the water properly. You don't just throw them back in. Go to the waters edge and let the fish swim out of your hand.

This caught my attention. I've never seen anyone else make a reel out of scrapes around the garage. Definitely badass.
