Another great magic review. Thanks, David!
Glad you enjoyed it!
You know it's going to be a good day when you start with a magicorthodoxy review!
woot woot
Agreed
Third that 💯
Awesome review man! The first time I saw this trick it blew my mind!
I agree - it's powerful
i've been looking at rope tricks for the last few months so when i saw this, I thought that was how. Thanks, David for confirming it!
nice
Very much like a trick in book “Japan ingenious” by Kenichi Kuroki called sneaky sneaker.
oh cool
Finger rings are my go to for magic effects. So this was a major blip on my radar. I really hope they do a follow up video for two sets. I’m on the fence if I should buy this next or save a few bucks for BIG MONEY(please review)
Smilesotheylikeyou
I need to check out BIG MONEY
Thanks, great review as always, was expecting more than just shoelaces but if it does what it needs to well then all good, cheers
Thanks for watching!
Yeah, I ended up holding off on this because I figured it was something to do with the laces and anytime I'm performing I'm pretty much always either wearing boots or Oxfords, so it sounds like I made the right call. Cool trick through.
Thanks for sharing!
I use linking ropes in my act, and this was one on my wish list. Thank you for letting me know about it.
Wonderful!
You my wife's getting this for me for Christmas.
you have a nice wife
Great review! Thanks David!
Glad you liked it!
I love this effect but I think they should have have included 2 gimmicked laces so you could have them on both shoes. You could do a really killer extended trick using both shoes. After I did it for a group, it killed, but someone asked if I could do it using my other shoe. For $60 they could have included two gimmicked laces. Or charge $79 and include two. Anyway, killer effect though.
you can always buy a second box
Clearly, but who wants to spend $120 on something that could and shold be $75?
I just give thanks to dave. He answers all the comments big respect to you.
:D
Self tying shoelaces by joe noblezada is much better i believe is more visual.
Great suggestion
Yeah the video: "Now, let's look at the trick......" got me too. The tease! 🤣
lol
Picked it up during the Black Friday sale and agree that it’s a strong contender for trick of the year. I would agree, however, that high-tops are probably the only true way to go on this, which bums me out as Converse or Vans style shoes have like zero arch support and hurt my feet when wearing them for extended amounts of time. I really wanted this to be an EDC I almost never have to think about, but this might stop it from falling into that category. Still a fantastic effect, but definitely something for people to consider.
100% agree
Why do they have to be high tops? I have this and don’t see why
@@Brythemagicguy1 Without modifying the length of the laces, it just feels to me like they seem weirdly long on a non high-top, (I tried mine on a pair of Cole Haan Oxfords and the laces looked REALLY long and floppy). I also think that high-tops create more distance between the top and bottom of the laces, which maximizes the impact of the movement of the bow. Just my personal 2 cents, anyway.
@@scotburklin5109 thank you Scot for your help on this. It is a little expensive for me right now but it is insanely visible 3x! Do you think it's worth it? How difficult is it to do? I wouldn't mind wearing high tops maybe not in converse but another brand. I appreciate your reply
@@scotburklin5109 ahh. I’ve been attaching it to the opposite foot to increased
He space
I was also thinking of that premise (linking rope). Thanks for the confirmation. Now I can experiment on this instead of investing on a $60 trick and a hi-top converse shoes! The creator could have marketed this item at a lower price considering the investment factor that I have pointed out.
well some already have the shoes
Very cool review. I wonder if you could use this with the self tying lace trick.👍😊👍😊👍
maybe on the other shoe
Yea. U need to be careful cuz pulling the pants up can ruin the bow. But I’ve tried a few times and it worked
@@Brythemagicguy1 😊👍
Best reviewer in the world!! ♥️
Wow, thanks!
Thanks David for another great review! I have a question for you; You mentioned that you could vanish the ring and then have it magically appear on your laces. How would you do that without being seen to bend down and placing the ring there?
youd have to do a vanish - but NOT point to your shoe - instead go down saying "watch" and load it AS YOU reveal it - it'd take some skillz
@@magicorthodoxy Ok that makes sense! That’s great 😃 thank you!
Hey David; can it be easily replicated yourself? Like for multiple sneakers in multiple colors. I'm a bit of a sneakerhead ; it would be odd if I only did this effect wearing one particular pair of kix being that I sometimes perform for the same people
easily replicated? I dont think so, but then I am horrible at arts and crafts
Will I get the laces in black? Or if I know the secret, can I make it in any other color?
Yes black laces. I couldn't make them myself, but you may have more skill than me.
@@magicorthodoxy ok and can laces be used for dress shoes for example?
as I explained in the video - these are long sneaker laces for high tops.
Hi David, I'm not cut out for this one I'm afraid. It looks good but if I bent down to get to my shoes it would take me 10 minutes to get up again ... and I'd need help!
lol
not sure this “trick of the year” 🤷♂️
Thanks for the review David 👍👍
giving away my copy on INSTAGRAM right now !!!
@@magicorthodoxy excellent … just saw the post 👍👍
Ah I have another trick using shoe lace that can be follow up for this.
oh nice !!!
you could possible use a pair of jordans
Are they hightops
they do have high tops jordan 1s for example :)
I got this one and love it!!!!!
sweet !!!!
It looks great, but how visible is this trick, really? If you are crouched down linking the ring and moving and untying the knot, how well can your spectators see this? As you said, they’re not crouching down with you. Perhaps it’s better if elevated on a stage, but I think it’s too small for a stage effect. And you could not perform it as restaurant magic, with all the tables blocking you. So is it best as an internet trick? UA-cam street magic? Or for a couple of friends you want to impress at a party?
great for street magic !!!
David, where did you get the shirt you are wearing in this video? Thank you!
some place like tpublic www.teepublic.com/t-shirt/21221906-retro-vintage-rabbit-in-magic-hat?feed_sku=21221906D1V&feed_country=US&BG%5D+%5BG.NAM%5D+%5BL.ENG%5D+%5BGEN%5D+%5BC.TShirts%5D+%5BPLF%5D&+bunny&ar_clx=yes&ar_channel=google&ar_campaign=71700000088748521&ar_adgroup=58700007503484722&ar_ad=PRODUCT_GROUP&ar_strategy=search&BG%5D+%5BG.USA%5D+%5BL.ENG%5D+%5BGEN%5D+%5BC.TShirts%5D+%5BSSC%5D&gclid=CjwKCAiAs8acBhA1EiwAgRFdwy5HyAT1k_BWlfNnS3aWX_adUvhwbwxd3mAX-POYt5VSRJp7x8T17hoClM8QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
@@magicorthodoxy Thank you.
This is amazing takes rope magic to another level.
AGREED !!!! two other levels !!!
So correct me if I'm wrong but I understand it is just shoelaces but there must be a gimmick, right? I understand that it probably involves m@&3t$ to slide down the bow, but it's the untying at the bottom band then again at the top that is the crux of the trick. The 3 phase part of it is great because once they see you link it on, they might be impressed and think that's the whole trick. The fact that you can bring it back home and slide it up and show you can untie the bow is just 🤯🤯🤯
its got 2 big kickers for sure
I love this trick. So worth the investment
it's so good
How easy is it to do as smoothly in the demo? I'm an intermediate hobbyist
@@brianmendenhall8387 easy but will take practice . Especially tying the bow
@@Brythemagicguy1 thank you for sharing!
Hey Dave, Thanks for reviewing Laced Up!
thanks for stopping by - tell your friends I'm giving a copy away over on INSTAGRAM
Cool trick! Very visual! I am guessing the black color of the laces is part of the magic gimmick!
It may "help" but I dont think it matters too much
@@magicorthodoxy oh, it’s not “black art”?
How do you feel about performing this on a close up stage with the lights on you?
Eyyy im always the first one to comment ai
lol
Trick of the year.
it'll be nominated for sure
Mediocre review, David. Sorry, but I shoot from the hip. I definitely don't think it's trick of the year. Not by a long shot. First of all, to show how to tie and untie the bow he should have used white laces against the dark shoe. The black ones blend in and you can't see anything. I had to rewind many times and pause it to try and see what he was doing. He glossed over the critical aspect of the whole trick and spent an inordinate amount of time on the obvious aspects of lacing your shoe. That's my biggest negative for it.
Personally, I think he stole the idea from Richard Sanders' Interlace which is a much better way to link a ring to your shoelace instead of bending down and simply putting it on your shoelace. Way too mundane and unimaginative for me. Plus, you're telegraphing what you're doing. Not very magical in my opinion.
I have Interlace and use it at the end of my ring routine by Greg Wilson. I vanish their ring, which is held in my closed fist, in a flash of fire right under their noses and it appears on the top bow of my shoelace. I untie the bow, ditch the Interlace gimmick, and "accidentally" attach their ring to the bottom lace as per Laced Up. I then retie the bow and move it down to the bottom lace where the ring is attached. I attach it, untie it and remove their ring.
But, to start it all off, I perform the Self-Tying Shoelace on my other shoe, then go into my Ring Routine and Interlace, and end with Laced Up. It's a powerhouse of 4 dynamic crowd stunners. The ring routine alone has 6 phases to it, so from the Self-Tying Shoelaces to the Ring Routine to Interlace to Laced Up it takes a good 15-20 minutes. It's a complete act.
always shoot from the hip !!!
It looks cool, but with the way things are today I can't imagine borrowing someone's ring and attaching it to a dirty shoe! I think $60 is a little high to me. It should also be offered in different color laces. Maybe I'll make my own, the method is pretty obvious. Great review as always!!!
wow - it'd be hard to make yourself (I think)
How is it that obvious? Parts of it are but not the untying of the bows, that is what fries me
