    Yeah, I ended up holding off on this because I figured it was something to do with the laces and anytime I'm performing I'm pretty much always either wearing boots or Oxfords, so it sounds like I made the right call. Cool trick through.

    I love this effect but I think they should have have included 2 gimmicked laces so you could have them on both shoes. You could do a really killer extended trick using both shoes. After I did it for a group, it killed, but someone asked if I could do it using my other shoe. For $60 they could have included two gimmicked laces. Or charge $79 and include two. Anyway, killer effect though.

    Picked it up during the Black Friday sale and agree that it’s a strong contender for trick of the year. I would agree, however, that high-tops are probably the only true way to go on this, which bums me out as Converse or Vans style shoes have like zero arch support and hurt my feet when wearing them for extended amounts of time. I really wanted this to be an EDC I almost never have to think about, but this might stop it from falling into that category. Still a fantastic effect, but definitely something for people to consider.

    • @scotburklin5109
      @scotburklin5109 Рік тому +1

      @@Brythemagicguy1 Without modifying the length of the laces, it just feels to me like they seem weirdly long on a non high-top, (I tried mine on a pair of Cole Haan Oxfords and the laces looked REALLY long and floppy). I also think that high-tops create more distance between the top and bottom of the laces, which maximizes the impact of the movement of the bow. Just my personal 2 cents, anyway.

    I was also thinking of that premise (linking rope). Thanks for the confirmation. Now I can experiment on this instead of investing on a $60 trick and a hi-top converse shoes! The creator could have marketed this item at a lower price considering the investment factor that I have pointed out.

    • @magicorthodoxy

    It looks great, but how visible is this trick, really? If you are crouched down linking the ring and moving and untying the knot, how well can your spectators see this? As you said, they’re not crouching down with you. Perhaps it’s better if elevated on a stage, but I think it’s too small for a stage effect. And you could not perform it as restaurant magic, with all the tables blocking you. So is it best as an internet trick? UA-cam street magic? Or for a couple of friends you want to impress at a party?

    So correct me if I'm wrong but I understand it is just shoelaces but there must be a gimmick, right? I understand that it probably involves m@&3t$ to slide down the bow, but it's the untying at the bottom band then again at the top that is the crux of the trick. The 3 phase part of it is great because once they see you link it on, they might be impressed and think that's the whole trick. The fact that you can bring it back home and slide it up and show you can untie the bow is just 🤯🤯🤯

  • @larrykugelman276
    @larrykugelman276 Рік тому +1

    Mediocre review, David. Sorry, but I shoot from the hip. I definitely don't think it's trick of the year. Not by a long shot. First of all, to show how to tie and untie the bow he should have used white laces against the dark shoe. The black ones blend in and you can't see anything. I had to rewind many times and pause it to try and see what he was doing. He glossed over the critical aspect of the whole trick and spent an inordinate amount of time on the obvious aspects of lacing your shoe. That's my biggest negative for it.
    Personally, I think he stole the idea from Richard Sanders' Interlace which is a much better way to link a ring to your shoelace instead of bending down and simply putting it on your shoelace. Way too mundane and unimaginative for me. Plus, you're telegraphing what you're doing. Not very magical in my opinion.
    I have Interlace and use it at the end of my ring routine by Greg Wilson. I vanish their ring, which is held in my closed fist, in a flash of fire right under their noses and it appears on the top bow of my shoelace. I untie the bow, ditch the Interlace gimmick, and "accidentally" attach their ring to the bottom lace as per Laced Up. I then retie the bow and move it down to the bottom lace where the ring is attached. I attach it, untie it and remove their ring.
    But, to start it all off, I perform the Self-Tying Shoelace on my other shoe, then go into my Ring Routine and Interlace, and end with Laced Up. It's a powerhouse of 4 dynamic crowd stunners. The ring routine alone has 6 phases to it, so from the Self-Tying Shoelaces to the Ring Routine to Interlace to Laced Up it takes a good 15-20 minutes. It's a complete act.

    It looks cool, but with the way things are today I can't imagine borrowing someone's ring and attaching it to a dirty shoe! I think $60 is a little high to me. It should also be offered in different color laces. Maybe I'll make my own, the method is pretty obvious. Great review as always!!!
