    The M1A is based off of the same design of the M14 that the U.S. Military used during the Vietnam War. It’s a great rifle for any military enthusiast to have in his or her collection 🍻😎

    This one in the video is fitted with a U.S. military issue M14 stock

      Elbow up?! Interesting, when did you go to boot camp? Things have surely changed, tactics and techniques. Now they yell at you to put your elbow down.

      @@BattlefieldCurator back during Vietnam war. My dad went to boot in 1965 and that’s what he used to tell me 🤷🏼‍♂️. I didn’t mean it as some kind of criticism I was just being humorous. But he had a expert metal on his uniform so I assumed he was being serious. I’m open to correction

      @@JohnnyRebKy ah ok, I was just surprised/ curious. That means that it might be in an old manual somewhere, marksmanship manual or something. I went to basic in 2007, they yell at you to keep your elbows down because it exposed you to the enemy more. That, and when you stand and fire, you’re chest is supposed to be facing the enemy so if you get hit, your plates and body armor take the hit. If you stand sideways, then your armpit and sides may take the hit. Realistically, you’d want to fire from cover. Anyways, so I think I may try and find a manual or something or figure out when they changed it from elbows up to elbows down, or if that was in the manual.

      @zubdub2506 Рік тому +5

      @@JohnnyRebKy the old school marksmanship method was much more focused on what would be considered "traditional" precision shooting today. So it prioritized precision accuracy on individual shots, rather than effective accuracy and recoil mitigation to deliver multiple impacts on the target or target area.
      Tactics have changed pretty significantly since then. Much of how we teach effective combat marksmanship today has been transitioning to the aforementioned, because much of combat now occurs and will continue to occur within tight, confined spaces. So, the ability to mitigate and manage recoil while shooting continuously on target is crucial in modern warfare, much more so than more traditional precision marksmanship used to be.

      @BattlefieldCurator with the older traditional style stocks you're supposed to lift your elbow what's called "chicken winging" so that it creates a deeper pocket in your shoulder for the butt of the rifle. It lessens the recoil and steadies the rifle a bit more.

      Yes, it is similar to an M14 except the M1A is a commercial production and does not have a select fire switch. I spoke with a rep at Springfield this week and the M1A has had a lot of traction within the last few years.
