Scrubs - The show making fun of itself

- The show often makes fun about itself/are self aware. Make meta-references. Break the fourth wall.
So I looked up som episodes and found some moments which I remember.
Scrubs is owned by NBC and ABC. All Rights Reserved.
This is nothing more than a video made for entertainment purposes only. - Комедії
You missed the one where Perry says "This isn’t a tv show, there aren’t any cameras over here, real medical mysteries don’t happen every week and doctor damn sure don’t look like models."
wazsn't that about house?
jeff kennedy 'Twas, but by making fun of a medical show, they're making fun of Scrubs itself
But I mean, Denise was finee
Well, a lot of doctors in the hospital I work in look like models
CallMeTipz or maybe your standards got lowered
I loved how they bashed Grey's Anatomy more than twice in the show.
QuantumChocolate101 cause eliot is in Greys as the JD character
Minecraft Music @aaaa
What?! As a character or a show that they watch in Grey's too lol. How come I can't find any clips on UA-cam?
because it came out very soon after this show and does similar things, hence watching our lives and putting it on TV... aka calling them out for copying scrubs
especially season 1 of Greys Anatomy when it was a comedy, after that it became a drama.
You also missed the one where JD says: "I'm just doing this thing where I use a slice of wisdom from someone else's life to solve a problem in my own life" Jordan: "seems coincidental" JD: "And yet I do it almost every week" I loved that one. Episode 7x10 for anyone wondering
Pixelated well it does say PART ONE on the video so maybe this one you brought up is in PART TWO
well Scrubs isn't exactly a show replying on medical mysteries and the cast isn't exactly full of models, too, so that quote from Dr Cox wouldn't fit the theme of "scrubs making fun of ITSELF" :)
@@irairabella maybe they are making fun of house
Omg so true that was golden
@@ssovideosvarios they do a house one with dr cox
"And so in the end I knew what Elliott said about the way things were had forever change the way we all thought about them."
You missed my favorite one (Season 7 episode 10)!!
Dr Cox: What in the hell are you talking about?
JD: Oh, I'm just doing this thing where I use a slice of wisdom from someone else's life to solve a problem in my own life.
Jordan: Seems coincidental.
JD: And yet I do it almost every week.
Swing!
I also like the Dr. Cox's rant where he's like "this isn't a TV show. There aren't camera's, cases aren't interesting and doctors don't look like models."
They look like Rex.....
Chin up ya ugly bastard
different video
Just like when he realizes he was not around cameras and that his friend had died?

And so many of the Worthless Peon's songs lol.
Yes, amazing music choices in this show.
Seriously , i have a whole Fucking playlist with all the songs of only scrubs.
my favorite one is when the people in traffic stop and the one guy's like "what's going on" and he's like "that damn kid is having an epiphany again" or something like that.
HAHAHAHA YESSS
Then when it cuts back to it the second time the guy in the car is like “is this for that same guy?”
@@joelmavity1467 LOL YES
SNEAK HUG!!!!!
Of course i would go kill him, but he actually just helped to prove my point.
aaah the sneak hug my favorite thing to do in games and to my brother
i dont want to know what kind of life you've had if you see a sneak hug as sexual assault
U tx h
The ‘buh buh b-buh buh buh buh buh” scene sends me every time
Cox looking at him like he's a lunatic cracked me up
Every time k heard that song after that scene I would just lose it lol.
When cox is approaching at the end of the episode and he "plays" the song really quick, was the funniest. To bad it missed the cut 😂
this show will always have a special place in my heart
in your Sacred Heart? I'll see myself out
@@wolfox7776 more like Sacred Fart
i want an hour long show of just Dr. Cox rants.

One doesn't not simply know how to answer that question. :D
"-You don't like Cox.
-Actually i love Cox.
-Greatest conversation ever!"
That sausage is huuuuge!
Janitor must be pretty good at physics..
sure he is.. that's how he became a doctor, Dr. Jan Itor
ThePretarius Yes, but Dr. Akula is better at everything. Especially phlebotomy.
Bruce Einhorn its a battle
Well, now that the clip is over, i guess you'll be leaving... Baaaaooouuu...
+Fraggr92 take my like, sir
Froozone4 I think he took your like with peace
Wait, so JD actually hears all the jingles and sound effects?
There’s a fine line between a vivid imagination and auditory hallucinations 😅
he's crazy.
Peter Parker no, he's an intellectual.
maybe we are just his imaginary audience
psychosis
You left out the episode about the site that let patients grade their doctors. They made fun of the show many times in that one. For example when Dr. Cox read one of his critics and it was "What's up with Dr. Cox's hair? One week he's bald, the next he looks like Sherley Temple" and then he read one of Turk's and it was about him saying "That's what I'm talking about!" a lot.
riss0is °sad voice° "but sometimes that *is* what I'm talking about!" Bloody love this show!
Yeah, that was a continuity error that was particularly noticeable. He shaves his head in a later episode, but they goofed and had to film an earlier episode after it was already shaved. I don't remember if it was a reshoot or just filming out of sequence. For plot reasons, it had to come before some of the episodes where he had hair, so he went from curly to suddenly bald for one episode, then inexplicably back to curly for a few episodes, then shaving his head and being bald again.
You missed the one where Elliot tells JD that "he will stare into nothingness", and he argues that he never does that. A second later he does just that while thinking to himself, then Elliot grunts and walks off. Love that bit 🤣
I love how this show. Despite it being one of the best shows ever, can make fun of itself.
god that sure was original.
DIVAD291 Was that sarcastic?
appelpower1
yes.
DIVAD291 It wasn't original indeed, simply because many people have that opinion. So what's your problem?
appelpower1 no...its not because many people have that opinion. try again.
Honestly I don’t think people give this show it’s due for just how good it was and that it was actually pretty well written ignoring the med school reboot they tried lol
I actually liked Med School, once they got rid of JD. They flanderized him so badly, it was hard to watch.
@@CrownRock1 Agree. Plus, his return was unnecessary. I mean he left and moved on, there was a bittersweet goodbye - and they screwed that. Then, he leaves again, only this time it means nothing...
I know it's an unpopular opinion but I hated Dave Franco(cole) character. To be honest I don't really like Dave Franco in anyting. Anything he showed up on the screen I kind of just rolled my eyes and hoped he would go away.
@@jacobsegura5478 Kelso was easy to hate in the early seasons too. I felt like we were supposed to hate Cole, which would have made his character arc more enjoyable of the series had gone on.
@@CrownRock1 I think my dislike for him is more of a personal thing. Because as I said I really don't like him as an actor. Though I do like his brother.
I love how you can hear JD running away after the sneak hug
RIP Sam Lloyd
While I appreciate your words, Sam Lloyd wasn't in one scene here^^'
2:16 is such a underrated moment, just look at cox's face
Genuine concern, I think.
buh buh buh buh buh buh buuuh buh buh buh buh buh buh buh buuuuuh
it breaks my heart... I got all the seasons on DVD for 60e, best money spent
Scrubs is seriously still one of the funniest shows to ever be on television. True story
'' True stooorrrryy" Ben.
My favorite was actually during one particular intro theme. Kim interrupts the intro to turn around the X-ray saying it was backwards and that she's been wanting to do that for years because she was visible now that JD finally knew she wasn't married.
Scrubs is seriously the best ever comedy show ever. as much as i love friends, they need to have scrubs on continuously throughout the day instead
It’s funny you mention Friends as they actually compare JD and Elliot’s relationship to Ross and Rachel in one episode plus Matthew Perry and Courtney Cox both appeared on Scrubs in different seasons
Totally agree. When scrubs ended, I died a little😩
Oddly enough once I got through friends I never felt the need to watch it again, but scrubs is a series I can always come back and watch.
This is the type of self realization 4th wall breaks that Velma tries to do. It just fails at it
Ahhh, you just can't help but love JD. He's like early 2000's Abed.
sydney jones Or maybe I have it backward. Since JD was the original.
+rencrow He's talking about Abed from Community. A great show, go, check it out. Almost as good as Scrubs. I know, I know, nothing will ever be as good as Scrubs, but this one gets close! ;)
+sydney jones I looooove Abed!! My favorite used to be Annie but I really like Pierce too :p I like all of the characters
+sydney jones, oddly enough I've always considered Troy and Abed from _Community_ to be the next JD and Turk.
Tived Nagol Because they are! ^^
They really nailed the 'less is more' aspect of this. Only doing this gag a few times over ALL the episodes keeps it funny.
Sadly the Artist Formally Known as Prince is now just Formally.
the fact that nobody has corrected this yet almost gives me a hernia. its FORMERLY, not formally.
You are quite right, sorry, I was typing in a hurry
Yeeeaaah, that's why you wrote the same word wrong twice.
Aishath Gaina Give him a break, he's tired from killing Saracens.
The artist formerly among the living.
I cant believe you didnt include the "My coworkers" episode, were Todd ask's JD for advice, he trails off and Todd actually adresses his Day dreaming habit!
“That would take a lot of garden gnomes”
annnd there goes the fourth wall
it's funny how this show switches from being drama to having cartoon slapstick in the same episode
God I love this show. I’ve probably binged it three or four times now and it never gets old
I wish I had the time to binge again on Scrubs.... one day hopefully that time will come. It will be like giving myself a well earned gift!
I said in another comment thread that I can always come back to watch scrubs but for some reason friends and that 70 show i can't.
Sneak Hug. Lmao JD is the funniest
This really was one of the best shows ever.
I think Scrubs and Its Always Sunny in Philly break the regular sitcom pattern and are definitely 2 best comedies in 21st century
I think the show is becoming self-aware!
babababababaaaaaa bababababababaaaaaaa
its wrong
bababa ba baba ba baaaaaa, bababa ba baba ba baaaaaaaaaaaa
Yes!!!! You nailed it!!! Nice correction because I also counted the wrong number of “ba’s” and in the wrong sequence. This is what happens when you bring your phone into the bathroom
Such an underrated show, I think it's because you need to watch the episodes in chronological order to really appreciate it
scrubs is the best comedy show
*Best Show
"My Cookie Pants" , Elliot lays down a piano mat as a traps at their front door and when JD steps on it it plays part of the opening theme and he says it's catchy.
back when you could get away with mentioning another show in your comedy writing without having to lawyer up
scrubs is so fuckin underrated.
Really? In Germany it was the most loved show between 2003 - 2011. Everybody knew that show and everybody liked it. They are not talking about it anymore because it ended long ago. Maybe it was different in the USA.
I like it that way. Like only the real cool people watch it. No bandwagon fake fans. I love scrubs
I know it never came up in this little video but...you do have to remember something about this show...
Hooch is CRAZY!
One of the most underrated shows OF.ALL.TIME
There's a few in season 8 when they directly reference their ratings.
On Monk getting the awards:
Blondie "We're not like what we used to be, but it's normal..."
JD "Except for Dr Shaloub, he's always on fire"
"We're not that bad, aren't we, we're still fresh and.."
JD "The Nielsen's beg to differ" (showing an angry couple)
these clips on youtube is the one thing stopping me from going on netflix and watching the whole show again
I have the opposite thing. I watch these clips and then have to binge watch the entire series. Last time, I even took in the ninth season, just because I wanted more. I think I may have a problem.
Holy f*** I remember when scrubs was on Netflix, same with Pawn Stars and a bunch of others
@@youngmoney4313 Pawn stars... I think you're on the wrong Netflix
@@jakefrost5853 What are you talking about?
@@youngmoney4313 Pawn = P*rn... It was a pun
Great editing. This show is classic.
This and Community are sitcoms at their best! The peak of sitcoms television, truly!
This is one of the best sitcoms I have ever seen. The first episode was so great
That scene where JD hums the music lmao
I loved this show so much!
lol meta humor at it's best lol
indeed really great humor!
Community is also a show that I'd recommend with the same type of humour, I love it!
Its*
such a great show
Scrubs is the only show that can watch in a bad mood & end up in a good(or ok) mood right afterwards. Shout-out to Dr. Cox, Dr. Kelso, & Dr. Turkleton! LOL!
"Scrubs - The show making fun of itself"
aka let's break the 4th wall... a lot
technically they would have to address the audience directly to count as 4th wall breaking
*Deadpool has entered the chat*
Thanks for the video, they often referred those scenes in the podcast Fake Doctors, Real Friends.
I'm surprised that the scene which Lampshaded Lampshade Hanging ("he just fell from the ceiling, we're not gonna address that?") didn't make it in here.
with the grey's anatomy one they wanted to say that grey's anatomy copied something from scrubs. for example the JD's voice off that say the moral of the story at the end of the episode. (sorry for the bad english but i'm italian and i don't if i'm speaking english correctly)
So maybe this entire show was all just JD's imagination!!
bob seger That was deep as Tartarus...
Well originally the Janitor never interacted with anyone but JD and if the show had not been renewed for a second season it would have been revealed he was a figment of JD's imagination caused by a brain tumor.
Erdrick68 I didn't realize that. Now I gotta go back and check it out. Crazy!!
darkraven220 Imagine all the stuff that happened in the show was just him imagining all of the stuff he could do with his life as he first walks in the door of sacred heart.
boxhead32from Haha, that is def a good thought. They could have gone soo many different ways with it.
I couldn't help but think of House when Dr. Cox said "nothing ever changes!"
House and Scrubs, my two favourite "hospital" tv shows
Actually there is a moment where they parody House. Guy was drinking tomato juice, and turned his skin orange
You could literally go forward a hundred years from and realize that at it's prime, this show was the best show on T.V. that no one was watching
Lots of people were obviously watching it if it had 8 seasons
I was too watching it! >8^) Though I admit, as with most shows I like, I only started watching it _religiously_ after it wrapped up (I bought the DVD set about 7 years ago).
This was one of the most brilliant sitcoms, and not enough respected for it's quality. How come our German channels keep replaying stuff like the Simpsons for decades on loop, but not this gem of a show?!
"I'm doing this new thing where I take a slice of wisdom from someone else's life, and use it to fix my own problems..."
"BULLSEYE!" That's some Foghorn Leghorn level pranking.
Self Referential humor is on a whole new level of comedy
I still love the show, it's great. Always good for a laugh, the only season I didn't care too much for was the 9th one when they did Med School.
JD "I know I love to forget all the pianful things that have happened to me. But unfortunatly, I keep replaying them in my head like some clip show from bad sitcom too lazy to come up with a fresh story." XD was my favorite line!!
To be fair, the Gray's Anatomy joke isn't Scrubs making fun of Scrubs; it's Scrubs calling out Gray's for stealing their ENTIRE premise and making it an hour-long drama instead of a half-hour comedy/drama.
You missed the one where Perry makes like he's gonna hug JD, JD flips out and tries to recall the tune himself before going in for the hug
RIP Prince :'(
+John Calcerano FFS where did you come from!
The Artist Formerly Known As Prince is still just Prince.
I never thought about how meta this show was. Makes me like it more.
i think the fact that they're not scared to make fun of themselves made this show extra special :)
I use to love this show so much!!! Hated the last seasons but still great show.
I like the jokes about the Doctor Shalhoub that keeps outdoing JD at every turn 😂😂
That’s why scrubs one of the best tv shows, it doesn’t take itself too seriously. It’s just a tv show.
I love this show and Grey's anatomy and the fact this one always says stuff about it is amazing
great upload!
"Every time an angry woman storms out, another angry woman storms in." - The Janitor, quoting his grandpa.
One of my most favorite shows, definitely top 5, and it's 2018!
I love when shows do this, it makes it that much more hilarious.
It's not making fun of itself, it's parodying common TV Tropes and the likes!
tropes that it has used itself, thus it's also making fun of itself.
The Cricket Nerd
But the first instance of making fun of Grey's Anatomy was pretty much just mocking that show.
Martin Allen Yeah, true, I guess. I didn't pay attention to the chronological order.
The Cricket Nerd I didn't notice any tropes that Scrubs itself has used in this video...
Dave Kelly er, the voiceover tying a bunch of storylines with a similar theme together? they pointed it out in this video itself, and they've used it un-ironically loads of times.
And now i want to watch the whole show over again.
When the way things were forever change the way we all think about them… 😢
With the Grey's Anatomy thing- they're not making fun of themselves. The writer is suggesting that Grey's is stealing their material. Similar to Kelso's comment to Dr. Cox - "You're like House without the limp."
oh man I Love this show, this makes me wanna the whole series all over again and that would be like the 10th time xD
This is brilliant :D
" Of course I would go kill him right now, but he actually helped to prove my point! :D "
I will never stop loving scrubs
miss this show so much
Scrubs is so underratedddddd!
It’s amazinggg
Other instances:
1. JD buys a new suit and says it only matters what America thinks.
2. The "Nelson Family" disapproving of JD.
3. Two seperate references to losing to Tony Shalhoub at the Emmys.
4. All the references to Turk and JD's bromance, including Turk freaking out when he sees a gay couple that look like the two of them, the song "Guy Love" from My Musical, and Sunny and Denise's comedy skit makeout.
Whoaaa... That definitely just made my day:)
obviously the one person who disliked this doesnt think scrubs should make fun of it self because it is just so awesome. i happen to agree. lmao
I didn`t become aware of "Scrubs" until just about two years ago when i got a new channel on my tv called FOX. I Absolutly loved Scrubs and i saw pretty much of it before the FOX channel sudenly closed down again, man i was pissed..
My brother is a doctor and he says its so accurate it's like watching him in the hospital daily
I just want to say that I'm impressed that you've properly configured your ZDSoft screen recorder for a proper framerate and video/audio quality. Other people from the mid-2000s should have taken a page from your book. XD
