Happy belated birthday Ellie! And 30 is where its at lady!! I used Incfile for my 1st biz registration and for Reg agent and unfortunately I didnt find them useful as my RA so I changed. I also didnt use their address, I ended up using my home address, but that was from me not knowing the diff. I didnt find Incfile helpful in my registration but thats just mem My second biz I filed on my state website by myself and found a reg agent that was much more affordable and also doubled as a virtual office/biz address so that was a win/win. I say all this to let people know to definitely do a thorough web search for your RA and virtual address bc prices vary and you want to make sure you don't settle with the first one you come across. Hi Ellie, I made the mistake of registering my business under my home address. When filing a change of address form with the secretary of state should I change the mailing address or the physical address? I ask because I have not found my space to open business but need to apply for funding. I hope you see this.

I also made the same mistake. I was just so eager to get started.
Once you get the virtual address, you will use the virtual address for both but only if u are going to be the registered agent for your business as well.

I did the opposite. Both my business and mailing address shows the registered agent address. Can I do mail forwarding to receive my mail? Or should I amend it and change my mailing address.

Quick question: if you file through a platform like Northwest, legalzoom, do you want the physical address that’s on record with the state to be the registered agent address while the mailing address that’s on record with the state would be the virtual office address ?

Hey Ellie, Can you recommend reputable companies to use for virtual address? There has been back and forth debates between 3rd party companies (ipostal , regus etc) and whether or not banks would give business credit.

Ellie, why is it that...on one hand you're saying that having a virtual address should be used when attempting to get a business bank account; but then you say that it's possible that the virtual address may not show up in the bank's system and we may end up having to provide our personal address anyway? That's really confusing....because you also said that sometimes banks treat you as if you are just a small home based business if one attempts to acquire a loan/line of credit (when having a residential address on file).
Does or should your virtual address be in the same state you do business in or same state your business is filed in?
Any info about business phone lines? I enjoyed the information you provided. Also after reserving the business name, are there steps I can take to keep the name longer than 30 days. I'm not quite ready to incorporate the business.

Hi Ellie, I was about to open a sole proprietor business, and was wondering if I can apply for a virtual address for this type of business. Not an LLC. It’s a very small business, community service type, which will run solely on donations, not tax deductible donations. thank you for all your great content. I’m learning a lot.

Thanks for the informative video, Ellie! Is there any way to get around paying for a registered agent? I thought a virtual business address would eliminate the need for one. Several people in my area have told me they don't use registered agents for their LLCs.
Lawfully and legally no. It's a mandatory requirement. Just choose a state that you want to build a business in for cheap WITH a corporate office.
I understand this but then how do you ship things in and out, like I own a candle company. But I wouldn’t be able to use either one of those addresses would be eligible to ship my products to customers.

A little confused, wouldn’t you want your physical& mailing address to be that of the registered agent on state record so they can check for compliance etc and then you use the virtual address for everything else like when a customer sends back a product ?

Great video thank you, and also had a question...... since the LLC business that we are creating is not linked to our social security.... only to a E.I.N. does that mean that it is not traced back to us? I mean we fill out our real names and information to sign up for all these things, but are we tracked by the gov? Or not because it's not technically in our names it's in a business name which is not connected to us at all because of the fact that it's not with our social or is it still considered our own business

my virtual address company is charging me $59 a month and try to be greedy every month by talking about retainer fees and they have $99 as activation fees and all of that is not said up front you find it out once you start your plan. im with regus and i regret it already.

My business address is the registered agent address, when I started a net 30 account with Quill and Grainger I used my physical address to ship items to. I'm not understanding how I can build business credit with this method with having two different addresses.
