  • Here is a tutorial on how to transfer Daz3D avatars into CLO3D in the fastest and easiest way possible. With this guide you will learn how to take a custom avatar that you have created in Daz Studio, and make it fully usable in Clo 3D. This is by far the easiest way to make this happen. This is how I import custom avatars from DAZ 3D into CLO for use on any of my projects. Learn how to use the CLO Auto Convert to Avatar, Daz to Blender Bridge, and set up your textures.

    Hello! When I convert to avatar custom shaped (in Blender) female figure it turns out with changed surface. Like Clo can`t reproduce exactly the same body form, it differs a bit and it noticeable. Maybe you have some advice, I would appreciate. Thank you!

    Hi, I'd like to work on specific facial expressions, body and hand shapes to create a photo shoot of some garments that I designed with CLO. Do you recommend to first arrange the genesis, the facial expression and all the shapes in DAZ before creating the avatar on CLO or is it something that you would do later once the draping is done ?

      Hey how's it going! That's a great question. For something like that where you are doing a lot of animation and work with Daz, I would actually suggest to do a slightly different workflow. Most of the steps will be the same, but I wouldn't convert the avatar to a CLO avatar in this case. When you use the convert tool in CLO, it overwrites the avatar rig and animations. For your scenario, I would do the expression and any animations in DAZ, and then export the entire animation into Blender first. You can follow the same steps but make 2 additions. In DAZ when you are ready to export, in the aniMate Lite timeline, right click in the empty area and select "bake to studio keyframes" from the window. Then in the Daz to Blender bridge, select "Animation" from the asset type window. After this, when you import into Blender, it will have all of the animation and facial rig adjustments. From Blender, instead of exporting a OBJ, if you export as an ALEMBIC file, all of that animation info will be included. With this method you do lose some features of CLO like the auto arrangement, but you have a lot more flexibility with the avatar from DAZ. Let me know if this is helpful and gets you going in the right direction, happy to try to guide you more if I misunderstood or you get stuck! Thanks for watching and joining the conversation!

      Thanks@@bengerding for taking the time answer. To be honest, this process seems a bit blurry right now, but I am sure once I'll try to follow the steps you listed, it will make sense.
      Regarding the draping of the CLO garments, I suppose I should do the draping on an avatar that has the same dimensions and pose as the one that I'd set up in DAZ so then I can load into Blender the clothes draped as it should ?

      @@amandinebouinot1921 There are so many different ways to work which can make it a bit challenging so I totally understand! My rule of thumb is to try to always work with the same avatar that I will do my final render / drape with from the beginning. I also try to minimize how many software's I use when possible. Every time you export and import there is usually settings and tweaks that need to be made, so the fewer times I have to do that the faster it will make working. If you import the DAZ avatar into Blender first like I show, you will only need to export the cloth from CLO, since the same avatar is already in Blender.

    my avatar is all collapsed, I am using Genesis 9 - do I need to change the size of the avatar in Daz or setup units in blender in a specific way? right now my avatar is a pancake 🙂

      @bengerding  5 місяців тому

      Hmmm. Not sure what might be happening there. I always make all of the size changes in Daz and then import to Blender. My guess would be something in the export settings in Daz is causing the issue.

    How do you get them into the correct pose in DAZ for CLO? My converted avatars look great but when animated often thighs rub together?

    • @bengerding
      @bengerding  Рік тому

      I’m not sure I fully understand your question but here is my best guess. The standard A pose in DAZ works in CLO for the avatar conversion. If you are bringing over animations from DAZ, I try to start the animation in an A Pose to arrange all of the garments on in CLO, and then I run the animation from there. If you’re getting a lot of rubbing in certain areas like the thighs or underarms which happens a lot, I will adjust the mesh in Blender to allow for a bit more space between those areas. I hope that helps. Let me know if you have more questions!

      Thanks so much! Sorry for the late reply! If you are looking to transfer the pose I find you need to export with different settings, and export the file from Blender as an Alembic (ABC) file. This keeps the animation data.

      @@bengerding Hello, first I would like to thank you for this helpful video! // I have some issues with transfering poses from daz to clo. When I export avatar from daz and import it as obj in clo, it does not have joints and arrangement points and I can export pose from daz to clo this way as well but I want my avatar to have joints and have arrangement points. --- I know I can achieve that with this method as you show in this video, but how can I transfer pose from daz to clo with this qualities?? I am not able to find it anywhere on the internet -_- (btw when I convert genesis 3 with your method, then clo writes that it didnt match the points because avatar needs to be in A pose or T pose but when I do it with gen 8, it is okey)

    how you pute hair and shoes?

    • @bengerding
      @bengerding  Рік тому

      Hey there! There are a few ways to do this. The easiest way would be to have them with your Daz3D model. If you export them at the same time as your Daz model, there are no additional steps. For this video I only wanted hair for the final static render, so I used an .OBJ hairstyle that I have and used the import (add) feature in CLO. The other way is to register new accessories to the avatar under the Avatar menu.
