In rebuttal to another comment: It's great for the Bible Project to be the Bible Project. It's also great for other works to be different to the Bible Project. I'm sure I don't need to remind John of this, but feel it worth saying anyway. The only recommendation I have, John, is that you keep investing care in these videos. I rarely have much to say in response but I find them interesting and thought-provoking.

I concur. There isn’t *one* way to do videos for all the people. The value is in the content and we needn’t pander to the mass decreased attention spans by adding cartoons for people who can’t or won’t listen without a flicking show to accompany their listening. Short, sweet, to-the-point, without the fluff, is nice for some! :) The Bible Project is also nice.

Awesome presentation on this interesting topic! I think you would appreciate a book by Valentin Tomberg called Meditations on the Tarot. The format is twenty-two letters to anonymous friends on the Christian symbolism of the major arcana, which were originally not new age bastardizations but Christian meditations.

Well, with THIS concept, it's safe to say that "Prayer" is (then) putting a "Spell" on God to get God to MOVE or REACT according to the intent behind your words when a desired outcome is REQUIRED, but beyond your human potential. Is this correct? Yes.

Remember, this video is about why we humans constantly write stories with spells in them. I’m speaking metaphorically and analogically. I’m not talking about literal spells.

Wow, a very interesting explanation. You can when taking the words without the negative associations and connect it biblically without coming away that the English literal definition and concept is all bad. You could do the same thing with magic though. In modern usage, it seems as if there's no way to relate any good biblical connections, but technically magic means power. If magic means power, and God is the Most Powerful, then He's also the most magical One in the universe. He created the power that those who do sorceress magic harness. He warns people not to use or tap into the natural and supernatural power in this way, just as He warns of other dangers that are things we could do, but shouldn't. In the end it boils down to your understanding and usage and communication of terms.

This is a good video. To extend the reach of these kind of videos you can do multiple things:
    Animated captions
    Animated transitions
B-roll visuals related to what is being said (or images)
    Captioning the main points
    Music
(basically make it look closer to the Bible Project)

Are you referring to sorcery? Or some kind of manifestation with our words? Because I'm pretty sure the bible warns us to abstain from such occultic practices

You’re exactly right. I’m talking about why we write literature with spells/magic in them.

Except these "spells" only work on animals. You can yell at a rock all day long and it ain't gonna move.

As a rock I strongly disagree.

It depends what you consider a spell. If you watch the president give a speech and then thousands of people get up and go crazy. Thats a sort of social spell. If you mean that when harry potter sais "wingardium leviosa" he is harnassing God's speech, I guess thats one possible interpretation. And it makes total sense, untill you remember he is not a real person. I am not saying your totally wrong though because thats an interesting proposition for modern occultists.
