Didaché - Are We Worse Than The Pharisees?!? Jim Osman and I Respond to Daniel Kolenda
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 вер 2024
- In the latest episode of the Didaché podcast, Justin Peters, alongside Jim Osman, delves into a critical response to Daniel Kolenda’s assertions regarding miracles within the charismatic movement. Justin and Jim analyze Kolenda’s comparison between New Testament miracles and modern-day charismatic claims, particularly focusing on the authenticity of such signs and wonders. They argue that true biblical miracles were undeniable, even to non-believers, while modern charismatic acts often resemble parlor tricks. The discussion further addresses the theological implications and the historical context of cessationism, emphasizing the importance of discerning genuine miracles from deceptive practices.

I received a supernatural healing from a 10 year alcohol dependence. I was a horrible raging alcoholic. The worst of the worst in my opinion. One morning 7 years ago I woke up and said to myself…” ENOUGH, no more”. I quit drinking overnight with no withdrawals. I have a wonderful testimony now. God knew my heart for freedom. Oh, how I praise HIM!
God does miracles. False churches like bethel don't.
Please ask him to Supernaturally heal me from mu addiction. I've been reading my Bible and praying building up my relationship with Jesus Christ, years ago the Holy Spirit even spoke to me 4 times as I was learning the word, so yes he does know me. Thank you friend amen

Back in 2019 at a small Baptist church I attended the Pastor was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Our church followed the Biblical model of praying and laying on of hands, and God chose to heal him. He went back to the doctor and he was give a clean bill of health. He didn’t do Chemo, But the Oncologist recommended he go through with radiation “just to be safe”. God does miracles and I have been blessed to witness one!
I hope he didn't get radiation. There's nothing safe about it!
Mr. Peters,

Amen! The most miraculous thing in my life is that a wretch like me broken and sinful beyond all hope has been saved by a just and Holy God who instead of choosing to rightly and justly condemn me for eternity saved me and changed me to being a man after Him and someone who lives to glorify the God I used to hate.
Thank you gentlemen for speaking the truth. I was saved from the faith prosperity doctrine. Because of people like you who defended the faith with sound doctrine.
You know, one time in my life, I had a very scary growth on the back of my right shoulder. Being housebound, I have to have Support Services that come in and help. My helper at that time's name was Joyce. Joyce saw this thing too. Neither one of us WANTED to admit what it looked like but I finally said "It looks like cancer, doesn't it?" and she looked sad and scared and said "yes". I looked for something similar online and it was cancer. So she took me to the doctor's office. We both saw it that morning. That afternoon in the doctor's office, he looked and said "where?" Joyce jumped out of her seat to show him while I was pointing over my shoulder. There was nothing there. There was no explanation for it, except that I had asked a few people to pray for me about it. I remember on the way home, I asked Joyce if maybe I had made it up, and she said "Well I didn't make it up! I saw it."
That is a miracle. Something you cannot explain. The healing is so complete you even doubt that there was a problem in the first place, then feel a little crazy thinking that because you KNOW there was a big scary problem and now it's just gone.
God heals
Glad to hear you are well. No cessationist denies that God heals or can work miracles today.
Hallelujah!
Yup, even if an unbeliever saw it and then it was gone later they couldn't deny it. That's exactly like they say on the video. PTL for your healing!

Very well said!
People believing in Jesus is actually a very common miracle, believe it or not.
But an absolutely amazing miracle is when someone is raised from the dead! That is something you see time and again in Spirit filled charasmatic churches but you never, ever see it in these demonic Cessationist churches. That shows which churches are right and which ones are wrong, because only God can raise or bring the dead back to life!
2011 Daniel Kolenda was at an event in germany that I was present at. He proclaimed from stage that a girl in the crowd had suffered from a heart failure for a few years and that God was going to heal it that night. What do you know in a crowd of 6000+ peoplethere was a girl that fitted the exact description, but her heart failure continued and I think she died (not completely sure). The local newspaper of course devoured it and exposed him for it. The next year he didn't make a single of such proclamations.

These people have you fill out a prayer request, before they take the stage. Then after they read some of them in private they call them out in public as a prophecy and a miracle. Oldest parlor trick in the book. Believers are commanded to have discernment and not fall for such heresy.
All these people that you guys have mentioned all have one thing in common, it’s called corporate Christianity. It’s not about Jesus Christ, but it’s about money!!! Plain and simple. Thank you for your videos and Keep calling them out on there heresy. 👍

it is so disgusting and still boggles my mind how so many people can get decieved when it is so obvious. But most of the people are just desperate for health or wealth, no real believers, otherwise they would know that a Christian has to expect suffering and has to endure it.

I appreciate Justin's comment in the Cessationist film: "The very fact that there is a debate is self evident proof that these sign gifts do not continue." This sentence says everything that needs to be said about this issue. If sign/wonder gifts continue today, there would be a plethora of substantive and verifiable evidence to examine which would shut down all further debate on the matter. But, we don't have such evidence, do we? Nope.
I have yet to hear of the charismatic healer that has visited a hospital and cleared all the wards of sick children and adults!Does Daniel have a legitimate explanation for that?
@kainofilter I guess I forgot that the disciples didn't go to the hospitals either...ummm,I think that was because there weren't any"hospitals"to go to?In the time of the disciples, none of the modern innovations we have today were available to them. They(through the power of the Holy Spirit)healed people who had issues that were clearly visible to the naked eye, such as paralysis, leprosy, blindness, demon possession, deafness, etc.,as well as raising people from the dead. But,their FIRST priority was to preach the gospel-the healings that were performed were a sign of the power of God,not of men.
Not everyone in a hospital believes that God wants to heal them. Otherwise they would not be there to get their healing would they? They would be with their pastors and elders. When there is unbelief healing will not take place. So what is the point of visiting a hospital. And I know people that have tried but were not allowed to go into the hospitals to pray for poeple.
@@Elizabeth_DeBActs 3:1-6 - was there faith involved on that part of the paralytic?
@@Elizabeth_DeB May I humbly ask...what happens to the Christian that seeks healing, who is prayed over by his pastor and annointed by the elders, and does not receive healing? What happens to their testimony of believing they will be healed? What happens to their belief in God for that healing?Do they give up on God?We absolutely know that God,by His sovereign design still heals some people. But it is only by His will, not man's.Yes,we definitely must pray and ask God for healing and believe that we will receive it.But ultimately it is God's decision whether or not healing will be accomplished.God has a purpose for every trial, whether sickness or disability, that a Christian bears and sometimes that means a life of suffering.I'm sorry, but saying that unbelief is what prevents healing from happening in a Christian's life is absolutely untrue,as is evidenced in the lives of many Christians, such as Justin Peters.
People like Daniel Kolenda see things in black and white.
Years ago at a charismatic chatting site, I had an exchange with a woman (one of the leaders of the website) after I wrote on a message board that God sometimes wants to heal today, but doesn't always do that. I twice made that point very clear.
Her reply was along the lines of, "How can you believe in a God who never heals today? I certainly don't!"
I replied, "I didn't say that God NEVER heals today, I said that he does not ALWAYS heal today. He sometimes does, sometimes does not."
Her reply: "Well, I certainly refuse to believe in a God who ever heals today!"
Words like "sometimes" were not part of her vocabulary. Her mind seemed to blot such terms out. It was either "always" or "never". In the world view of these people, there's simply no other camp.
Justin, we need you here in Poland! As ex-patriot from Canada and here in Poland this land is infested by all sorts of prophets, apostles and magicians of Charismatics. All made in the USA. They already split my home church.
Would love for someone to address this side topic with Kolenda because I think it's important as it relates to qualification as a pastor: Kolenda divorced his wife Rebekah in 2022 & remarried Elizabeth in 2023. This is not gossip, this is fact. And to be clear, this isnt meant to imply blame on Daniel because we simply don't know.
No reason or detail was given to his congregation or publicly - which for a pastor of his fame should be made available to at least some degree.
My intention is not to speculate on detail, but to reveal he has not only shown himself to be unqualified in handling the scripture, he is perhaps disqualified as he is not "the husband of one wife" nor "above reproach" in how he has publicly handled the matter (swept under the rug).
Divorce is serious and immediately remarrying provides no possibility for restoration of the 1st marriage, which was blessed with 5 kids. Moreover, non-disclosure of the reason and then wiping Rebekah's footprint is concerning. Wikipedia use to mention the divorce and even that is now deleted.

Back in about 1991 on a construction site in Foster City, CA a nailer named Tom fell through a hole just cut in the roof about 30' faced down to the concrete floor. I ran across the roof and down the ladder and to the fallen man. His head was cracked like a melon and he was not breathing. I laid my hand on him and as I did another new believer also laid his hand on him as I prayed " Jesus just save his life" . Immediately he started moving but was not conscious. I removed his nail bags and gave instructions to go to the office and call 911. Then I instructed carpenters to drive their cars to key points to guide the ambulance. They came and got him and went to hospital. Near the end of the day a rep came out to talk to us all. The spokesman said he had broken ribs, broken collar bone, broken ankles, broken fingers on both hands, broken thigh bone. I asked "what about his head?" . The man said, " oh, there is nothing wrong with his head." Wayne looked at me and said "Jesus saved his life!". Wayne and I saw his head with one eyeball hanging partly out and bleeding. Homework for everybody: research Montanism. We’ve literally done this before and it was condemned as heresy. Why? Because it’s not biblical! Because that movement was started by a man who simply claimed to be great and people took his word for it. We’ve done this before. If it were of the Spirit it would have continued, but that movement died out completely. The church has always been cessationist because it recognized the mere fact that people could no longer do sign gifts. There was no command, not change in teaching, no official council to declare it. They just stopped with some situational exceptions when the Lord so chose, just as prophecy has historically stopped over long periods of time. Just because God stops doesn’t mean he’s incapable. If anything it’s a test to see who will continue in the foolishness of choosing experiences over the Word.
If you are a biblical christian,
it should bother you to reject a biblical command to seek the gifts based on an unbiblical assumption.
I guess you have at least the idea of doctrinal development in common with Rome then
*ALL* of this could be settled if Daniel Kolenda did a live miracle i.e., restored the withered limb of *one of his*
most faithful followers in an controlled environment that Justin, and/or Jim oversees from start to finish.
@kainofilter // Correct; but through whom does God do miracles? [cf Acts 5-and 15 which says]: "All the people kept silent, and they were listening to *Barnabas and Paul* as they were relating what signs and wonders *God had done through them* among the Gentiles." This is merely *one* example.
@kainofilter // Correct again; now please refer back to my original comment-and focus hard on the persons name stated there. Shouldn't he be able to settle ALL such related claims re: signs and wonders [miracles]? What a great opportunity he now has-wouldn't you say? After all, Jesus validated His Apostles and what they taught via signs and wonders; so why doesn't Daniel Kolenda follow His example?
@kainofilter // Please know the most important thing is to search Gods word, and place our trust in the truth, not what we want to be true.
2 Tim 3 v16-17 is the means to do so. Those who do not will find themselves in 2 Tim 4 v3-4. I'll be praying for you.
All that has to happen for EVERYONE to believe that faith healers are real, is for JUST ONE of them to take a trip to the local children's hospital and start healing those children. Of course they would say that "that's not how this works" or "the children just can't have the faith necessary for them to be healed" but that is exactly how it SHOULD work. This healing grift has been going on since the days of Dowie's healing revivals and it's same act.

Nothing specific , just calling out the normal things that happen to people in the world. Thank you, Justin peters for this. you guys are spot on.
Not to mention, the charismatics get thousands of emails a day, with specific ailments, for prayers....I'm sure they use those to target specific people. They act like they're psychic or something. Lol
@kainofilter who are you asking?
I am a cessationist that could be put into the category of "no miracles nowhere ever". But let me qualify that: there are things that happen that we have no explanation for. Most would, I guess, be content in calling such things miracles. But to me unexplainable does not equal a miracle. When someone comes and tells me a story about a miracle, they are placing a requirement, a burden, an obligation, a yoke, on me. They require me to believe them, or else I'm an evil meanie, who practically calls them a liar. I refuse to submit to that. That is tyranny. They have no right to require that of me. I have never had anything miraculous happen to me or anything even close, so that it could be even speculated whether or not it was a miracle or not. It is always someone else, who tells these stories. I can not know, because I don't have a miracle-o-meter. I can not know if they lie, or if they are insane, or if they are simply superstitious and impute greater meanings on things than the things deserve. So when someone says they are healed of cancer and doctors are amazed, I'm sceptical, because I can not know if they are representing the amazed doctors truthfully. In this area we operate completely with our own FALLIBLE judgement. Our own ability to parse our surroundings is deeply flawed. Humans brains misremember, synthesize information and generate false memories. Notoriously untrustworthy. I am obligated to believe the Biblical miracles, so I do. But I am not obligated to believe anyone's stories, so I happily won't.
This is my thought. Someones “experience”. Has nothing to do with my faith. It’s like some people and or churches, that angels are “appearing.” I am sure you think you are seeing something. But it’s not what you think. Even John in Revelations was told by an angel not to fall down and worship him. So yes, I am more in line with your thought. I do believe God can heal people. But whatever experience people have. Has nothing to do with my faith. It doesn’t increase my faith. I just stand on the WORD.

Derren Brown grew up and attended a charismatic church. He then got into doing hypnotism at College. He noticed similarities between church and hypnosis. He also studied magic. He has appeared on Justin Brierly's Christian podcast in the past. He did a lot of TV shows exposing psychics and even had a seance show, which ticked the psychics off in Britain. He is an Atheist and he is homosexual but he's quite a decent chap. He's done some good exposes. It should be mentioned, however, that he is a total skeptic of the supernatural along the lines of James Randi. You have to be careful with "magicians" because they know they are lying when it suits them. Randi's documentary was called An Honest Liar. In the seance TV show that Derren Brown did, one of guys that took part went behind a curtain and completely freaked out and screamed like he was dying until Brown calmed him down. I truly believe that that man freaked out because he encountered a demonic entity. But Brown puts it down to hypnosis. It's interesting because I saw a show in Britain some years ago where he was a guest and the presenter asked him, "what is hypnosis?" and his reply was "I don't know".

Did the Pharisees commit the unpardonable sin? Also, if these miracles were real, there are countless people in cancer wards that need healing. I do not know of any of the Charismatics going there.
I believe they did
Exactly.
If these people were real, they would empty out the cancer wards.
Some did. The Holy Spirit empowered the miracles to bear witness to Jesus’s identity and mission. By attributing the miracles to Satan, Pharisees rejected Christ. To die in that condition is to die without possibility of pardon.
But Jesus often spoke of Israel as a collective. By rejecting Messiah, “the unpardonable sin,” the Jews brought the nation of that time under judgment. It was destroyed, including the Temple, in 70 AD. (God will turn them to Himself again some time in the future.)

One important thing to note. Apostolic gifts were for signs of the time because they did not universally have the “Bible”. No Apostolic gift continued after the cannon of scripture was closed. There is no need for it because we have the Bible. The best argument that be made is Apostolic gifts continued up until the last Apostle died… (John in around 100 ad).

In the late 70's and early to mid 80's I attended a First Assembly of God church in New Castle PA for a total of 7 or 8 years. They spoke in "tongues" and preached the gifts of the spirit and I believed without question. A faith healer named Dale Everett visited the church for a couple weeks and one evening asked if anyone would like to be healed of anything. A girl I knew who attended the church for years who had one leg about six inches shorter than the other went forward. We all stood around her and the preacher while he held her out stretched legs while supporting them by her heels which were in the palm of his hand. He prayed and we prayed. Her leg shot out about 3 or 4 inches and then another 2 or 3 inches more until they were even. I knew her. She wasn't a plant and she walked out of there carrying her corrective heeled shoes. Was that a visible miracle? I also experienced a time when two people gave a tongue message one morning during a Sunday service. When the man spoke out in a "tongue", the typical gibberish utterance, I instantly heard or knew the entirety of the interpretation like a download in my mind or spirit. Then the interpreter spoke exactly what I had just understood and knew. After the service I told my experience to my friend who was the person that originally invited to the church and he said the same thing happened to him during g that service. That means that at least 3 of heard, knew or understood the same message at the same time. Here's the thing, the tongue speaker wasn't speaking to a foreign crowd, it wasn't a known tongue and the interpreter was a woman. At the time, back in 1987, I thought that really something. However, about ten years or so ago I started listening to John MacArthur on the radio while driving to work. He was really bashing churches like the one I used to go to. So, I started praying for the truth of my experience and whether today's speaking in tongues were real. John MacArthur proved to me with scripture what the truth is about the practice of speaking in tongues. I read his book Strange Fire and was educated on tongue speaking. Thank God for John MacArthur and his rock solid correct teaching of the scripture. So, what about the healing I witnessed and the tongue experience I had. Both were real. Was it God that healed the girl's leg and a demonic presence that inspired the tongue speaking and the knowing of the interpretation that was validated by others or what? It happened and was real. To this day I'm still perplexed by what happened and what I personally experienced.
False prophets today are way worse for there is no stoning coming there way.
Easier said this Kalinda guy is not doctrinally sound and is a false convert

The atheist that trained that man to be a faith healer isn’t stupid’ though he is lost , he’s not stupid. Atheists are not stupid because I preach to them all the time, if anyone could pick out something that’s false on a list is a Christian first who knows their Bible ,and second on the list is an atheist. Does that mean you don't already possess them? Do you have some and not others? Can you get specific? I believe I was given the ultimate gift, which is forgiveness for my sins and eternal life. I no longer seek this gift, because I was already given this gift based on what Jesus did for us on the cross. He died for our sins, was buried and resurrected the third day according to the scriptures. I was given a clean slate. I was given a desire for righteousness and given self control through the power of His Holy Spirit. I've been blessed throughout my life with innumerable blessings. We were told that with clothing and raiment we are to be content and we ought to receive what we are provided with in thanksgiving. James 1:17 says "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning."
@@joshmccracken16
I´m sorry if you felt "put on the spot", I wasn´t trying to be rude. What I was trying to do is pointing out that many cessationists try to claim that they have the Bible and don´t need anything more, while they in practicality don´t actually follow the Bible. That´s the only issue to me, obedience to the Scriptures, to Christ.
"Also, I cited scripture to back up my point" You did, but it´s not a Scripture that says anything negative about the gifts at all, or the use of them. It says we should be more happy about salvation, and of course I am. That is not an issue between us. And I did use Scripture as you know. The command to earnestly desire the gifts is from 1 cor 14:1
"Pursue love, yet earnestly desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy."
"You seek the gifts to edify the body of Christ. Does that mean you don't already possess them?"
True, I only have a few of the gifts. I speak in tongues, and I have some measure of discerning spirits (at least twice I have felt an evil presence over a person, one had to be excorcised and the other was battling a very serious personal sin issue that he needed to be set free from), I have been used in healing, but it is not very common. And I would like to prophecy, as the Scripture calls me to desire it especially.
The reason I don´t find your idea that I should be content without the gifts to be strange is that it assumes we seek them for ourselves, to fullfill ourselves. But we are told to seek the gifts to edify others. People are served greatly by these gifts, Take the 2 examples I gave earier, the gifts led me to help these 2 people. One had had a demon for years, he was tormented. Praise Jesus he was set free! And also the other man, when I felt the evil prescense I asked him about it, and he confessed his sin and repented. Praise God!
You can also imagine the blessing real healings bring. So if we love others, we are called to seek the gifts for their benefit.
I think your argument that we are to be content is not applicable to the gifts at all. First of all, if you used it about everything, we could not seek the kingdom of God since we are to be content. You are talking about different issues. If Paul meant to be content and therefore not seek the gifts, he could have said that.
Instead he told us to be content with clothes and food, and also to seek the gifts.
1 Tim 6:8 "If we have food and covering, with these we shall be content." So we are told to be content with a minimum of possessions.
I try to do both. And I see no legitimacy in saying if we are content, we shouldn´t want the gifts. That´s using one Scripture against another, as if God ever spoke against His own Word.
I don´t think that´s what you want to do.
I am very happy to hear what Christ has done in your life, and praise Jesus for His grace to you in all of this. What you have experienced is the most important thing in life.
If you are healed in this life, that´s a glorious and wondeful thing, but you will still die someday, but we who have been given forgiveness will live forever. '
Some people have delivered a message from God, that´s great, but all who have received salvation will one day see the face of Jesus and be with Him forever.
The gifts are just a taste of the glory that´s to come.

Okay, I just started watching the video, but I already have found the place I can ask my question: The Cessasionist movie. WHEN will it be available to watch in Canada??? Everywhere I can find it to watch it demands I must be American. I can't even order a DVD copy as it only ships to the USA. Why is this?
buy a VPN for a month and set it to US server. Any one will work, the website can walk you through the setup.
I was on hard core drugs for many years and after accepting Jesus Christ as my lord and saviour I was set free immediately, no rehab or any other medication, but by the power of prayer from my mum, that was in 1980, thank you father, thank you Jesus, thank you Holy Spirit for leading me everyday, that is a miracle.
I absolutely believe in healing and muracles and have experienced it myself and seen others healed when prayed for . BUT having been inside of several of these ministries, they exaggerate a lot and many get healed by emotion because of all the hype
What miracle did you experience yourself.
There are unless I am mistaken those who teach you just have to believe what you heard out of someone 's mouth such as the so called, preacher and if you question it you are treated with contempt.
