  • Yabbies, Crawdad, Crawfish, Mudbugs, freshwater Crayfish! It doesn't matter what you call them they are a lot of fun to catch and they are also very nice to eat!
I headed down to the main dam at the farm to see if the Yabbies have started crawling. The weather up here in the hills has been all over the place with only a few warms days and plenty of cold days/nights. However since we are now in November the days are much longer so this will help the water warm a little.
I decided to set the opera house nets over night as this would give me the best indication if the Yabbies were on the move. While checked the nets on the following days I did notice some small fish darting away from the waters edge of the dam, Makes me think I should give the fish a go at some stage!
I hope you enjoy the video guys and if you do please give it a like and consider subscribing.

Brilliant video and catch. Nice spot to spend a day. Time to check out my Uncles dams at Mt Pleasant. Conditions look good for them in the Murray this season too

I hope you get a few at your Uncles dams! I still think we need a good week of hot weather to really get them crawling.

Hi I am looking for places to go yabbing Even if you have to have a permit that is not a problem I am happy to get a licence for the permit. Looking places near North Suburbs. As I am looking for this type of stuff for a hobby. Also local creeks and dams that you can also fish at the same time in release.

I’m not 100% sure what creeks/rivers have fish or yabbies out North but you could look at going to places like Warren Reserve out at Mount Crawford.

Do they let the people book to catch some?!? I like to try catching some yabby for an experience 🤩🤩

@@NgocMai-gg2vx unfortunately not, the farm is a working dairy farm so there might be cows in the same paddocks as the dams.

@@NgocMai-gg2vx any creek/river is worth a try. Metropolitan wise I have caught them in the Field river/Sheidow creek if you just want the experience of catching them, I probably wouldn’t eat them though. Just about any creek that doesn’t dry out or has large pools in the hills will have them as well. Some parks and reserves in the hills have dams and they are worth a look too!
